As always our preferred choice in Vientiane”
Location, staff, food, facilities - we can't think of a better place in the very heart of Vientiane. Even for a short stopover it's a perfect hide away. The most polite and well trained staff we know in Laos, giving you a welcoming feeling!
Everything went well until we were hit with a $3.00 missing room key charge.”
Delicious breakfast each morning and great staff at the Restuarant too. AirCon in the room worked great, hot water with good pressure. Beware of the bathroom door threshold on the floor that keeps the flooding water (if there is a plumbing issue). It is a Toe Buster, I kicked it more than once even though it is clearly marked as a potential injury hazard. Room 604 is a quiet room except for Certain’s times of the day when housekeeping storeroom is right next door sharing the same wall as 604. Only one elevator in this hotel and it is kind of slow. Something you’ll have to get used to if staying more than a few days. Parking right out front for my rental car was nice. Last, but most significant for me is the lost (plastic) room key charge/fee. $3.00 is not much however, I would have accepted it more if they had clearly explained such a charge upon Checking-in, which did not occur. So, having stayed at over 75 hotels in 200 nights, I’ve never had to pay this fee ever.
Good but could be better”
The breakfast was below expectations: the staff do not pay attention to refiling the buffet, the crepes are sometimes not well cooked. The check out experience was confusing: the person at the front desk simply was not answering our questions, was attending to other customers who arrived after us, and we were not sure if we can leave or not! It is a good hotel, the rooms are very nice, but the staff could do a little better for the standard.
Best hotel in the heart of Vientiane.”
I love the comfy bed and pillows and blankets. There’s a spa inside the hotel. It’s so relaxing staying here at Salana. We will come back to stay here again next time.
Just a problem of sound proofing.”
The only bad point I can remember is the sound proofing...but the hotel is based on an old fashion style which includes the windows as well ... that’s why maybe we can hear all the noises coming from the street. The rest was just excellent.
Beautiful hotel in perfect location”
I spent three days in Vientiane on a short trip. The hotel beautiful, clean and close to the river. The bed was big and comfortable. Bathroom was perfect and very clean. I had rented a motorcycle, which was always parked and covered for me by the staff. My next stay in Vientiane will be in this hotel again.
Comfortable clean small hotel feel in a great location.”
Great little hotel with a personal touch, excellent service and facilities. Breakfast was also excellent. The dining area had a nice street side cafe feel or you can eat inside. We moved to Salana from another boutique advertised hotel in the same price range that was badly in need of some love and care. While Salana has a new and well kept feel, it is not large and impersonal. It is an easy walk from Salana to both the river front and center of this quiet town. We stayed here a second time on our way back out of Laos as we found it so welcoming on our way in.
This was an excellent choice for us, an upscale well-managed hotel within walking distance of most of the local sights in Vientiane. The included breakfast buffet was varied and fresh, the 4th floor lounge was intimate with a wonderful outdoor perch. The mattress was a bit old and bumpy, but we find that in almost every hotel in SE Asia
My husband and I spent one night at Salana Hotel. Staff were polite and helpful. The room was clean and roomy, Best of all was the breakfast which has plenty of varieties of western and Laotian food. Great hotel to stay in center of Vientaine.
Nice and good place to stay”
Pros: Nice hotel, though small (compare to other hotel) but unique, clean Cons: Some staff only care with Western foreigner, if you are Asian, feel like they not serve as usual. Breakfast is good, but room are very small. Very few table and limit. if you come in the same time with other guest, you have to wait for long time
Clean room, delicious food, Great service! Cozy like a home. This is my second time staying this place. Very near to walk along Mekong river. In additon, hotel upgraded my room type from superior to deluxe for free. Will stay this place again whenever I would go Viantiene.
Improvements to the Breakfast and Service: # English breakfast tea would be better served in a pot* instead of a bag-in-a-mug** */** whether pot or mug cold fresh milk should be provided in a small jug on the table plus a teaspoon to add sugar if required **if serving a bag-in-a-mug then in addition to milk in a small jug jug on the table a teaspoon plus a tiny bowl to take out and discard the teabag when the required strength is reached. # A mug by itself is quite crude!, Ideally a mug should have a saucer, in the saucer the teaspoon can be put plus the used teabag can be put there after use.
Very Impressed - fantastic staff”
This is a great hotel with the most polite, helpful staff. The room was a good size with a massive, comfy bed. A very good breakfast option and a really nice meeting room / bar on 4 floor. The only slight issue I had was some road noise coming into the room and if your room is facing East, it can get very hot (& bright) in the morning if curtains are open. Fantastic hotel & will stay again when in Vientiane.
They do their best for guests”
It is so thankful that they did their best to provide good service! I used pick up van and even your flight would be delayed, they will send the driver later as delay if you send message. And they check messages so fast and reply soon! It really is good. And breakfast was absolute:)
If you have to go to Vientiane, this is the only place you should stay”
In two trips to Vientiane, I've stayed in four hotels. I will do everything in power to only stay at Salana. Perfectly located, great rooms (including an upgrade for this trip) and a good spread at breakfast, you would be hard pressed to find anywhere better in the Laos capital. That might not be saying much, but this Salana is head and shoulders above anywhere else.

Exceptional staff and sumptious buffet breakast”
I stayed at Salana Boutique Hotel just for one night, paid around USD110. Plus points: - The hotel is extremely tastefully decorated with natural textures and traditional arts/crafts, so it's very soothing and calming. - The staff are extremely warm, polite and helpful. - The room comes with complimentary fruit basket and turn down service (with a chocolate snack) - Location is great, just minutes away from the riverside and night market. - The breakfast makes up for the high price. Not only an extremely thoughtful and generous buffet spread with plenty of healthy options, but also special made-to-order eggs, pancakes, noodles, pasta, desserts etc. You will be spoilt for choice! I would recommend skipping dinner (or having minimal) the night before so you can fully enjoy the breakfast. Suggestions for improvement: - For the price point, the hotel could afford to provide better quality toiletries. -
Nice setting, good location”
The hotel is well located next to one of the many wats in town and easy to walk to most of the things you would want to see. The staff is very good - friendly, attentive and helpful. The room was fine, well maintained and the breakfasts were similarly very good. The balcony on the lounge on the 4th floor is a nice place for a beer at the end of the day before you head out for dinner.
Top tier accommodations in Vientiane”
Salana is an extremely well designed and appointed property operated by a warm and professional staff. I cannot remember the last time I found myself remarking on the number of smart design choices and thoughtful amenities. Not only do I have zero complaints, I cannot even think of room for improvement. This place has its act together, and I look forward to visiting again in the future.
The hotel was a good location ”
