Charming place in excellent location”
We really enjoyed our time at Sam's House. Great location in the middle of everything, comfortable room (if you don't mind a tiny bathroom), great seating area outside (on the porch ad in the communal areas / bar), beautiful design of the huts right on the water. We were welcomed, felt safe and cared for and were near enough to walk everywhere in Kanchanaburi. The Internet was fast and reliable and there were unlimited eating option a few minutes in each direction.
Cozy cottage with perfect location”
I really liked my stay at this guesthouse. The staff was superfriendly and they helped us with everything they could. The price was reasonable and the location was perfect. Walking distance to the railway station and to the bridge of river Kwai. Also many restaurants and bars around this area. More than that the cottages were very cozy.
Great budget hotel. A little gem.”
For ten quid a night I couldn't fault Sam's place. I usually never spend under fifty dollars for a room and was expecting to take one look at the place and go and find somewhere else. But we stayed. Friendly people, good atmosphere, clean rooms. All you could want for the price. No complaints at all and i will definitely stay there again.
Lovely hotel”
A very nice hotel with quality mattresses. The surrounding is very calm and soothing. Very suitable for those who would like to have a peaceful and relaxing stay / holiday. A very unique hotel with rooms of a variety of choices. Would be back at Sam's House if given the chance. Worth the money!
Good location, helpful staff and adequate rooms”
stayed for two nights while doing the tourist trail. was nice and quiet and on the river, away enough from the buzz of the main street but close enough to walk to places, including the thailand-burma railway centre and cemetry. i booked a day trip via the hotel, went to the hell fire pass and museum, bridge over river kwai, rode on the railway, elephant trek, and bamboo rafting, included lunch transport, all admissions and a great english speaking guide, all for 850bht 8am-5.30pm i booked to stay in a bamboo bungalow, slightly more expensive then the basic room, but from what i could see those rooms seemed fine too.
Good location, small basic rooms.”
sams guesthouse is a little bit run down and in need of a spruce up. we booked a 1 bedroom bungalow which turned out to be a tiny a frame building with just enough room for a double bed and a bathroom attached to the back. it was clean, air-conditioned and cheap but we really needed a bit of room to open our bags! we upgraded to a bigger room for a very small extra charge. larger bungalows are available along the river bank but there were too many steps for our old legs. we did enjoy our stay here. friendly, helpful staff, clean room and very good location.
Great location ”
This place is good for few nights stay in Kanchanaburi. Close to bars and restaurants, 20 min walk to bridge over river Kwai, friendly staff too.
Small Comfortable Guesthouse”
We had a wonderful 2 night stay at sam's house. Rooms were small but comfortable bedding. Bathroom was okay. It is located near many restaurants and pubs. Bridge over the river kwai is also located nearby.
Very charming guest house. Loved it!”
We really enjoyed our stay. We had the room over the reception which is huge, colorful and unique. The owners are very polite and friendly. . The old coffee house is just around the corner with excellent food and nice atmosphere just a step away. The first temple is just on the other side of the road. Take the train from bankok and a tuk tuk to the hotel. Very easy.
Value for money hotel”
We liked the setting of the hotel, from the outside it does not look very inviting, but it is set in a lovely area, each room with a little outside patio. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with good, large beds. The owner of the hotel was very helpful at times, but at other times seemed disinterested. I asked her for the time of the train to Bangkok, she just pointed to a timetable. When I told her that I did not understand Thai, she ignored me and continued with her business. On our last day, she helped with serving breakfast, and asked me to write a good review. In spite of this, I will still recommend the hotel
Cool guesthouse with friendly staff”
It is a cool guesthouse near the main attractions of kanchanaburi but is in a quiet setting along the river. The staff is very friendly and willing to help with anything. They actually overbooked our room so upgraded us for free. It is a great place to stay while you are exploring kanchanaburi.
Good location, basic acccomodation”
Overall a decent place to stay for the money. The Bridge on the River Kwai is a 15-20 minute walk away. There are lots of restaurants nearby. The cottage was basic so if you don't need any frills then this will fit the bill. A few things to note: If stairs are an issue, you might not want to book the bamboo cottage, the other options would be okay. Breakfast is okay but the other food was a let down. The staff were friendly but spoke very little or no English so if you go looking for help or advice on what to do and how to get around you'll be disappointed.
Nice little hut with good price”
It was not as near to the attractions as I thought. it is more likely you take a tuktuk to Sam House from the bridge over River Kwai. Though it doesnt look fantastic outside, it is quite clean inside.
Good hotel in quiet location”
Good hotel in quiet location. I went for the room with aircond as it gets quite hot in Kanchanaburi. Close to the main attractions and good places for food. Staff are very helpful and friendly and speak good english
Nice, affordable hotel”
This hotel had nice clean rooms, basic but very good value. Clean bathrooms and free wifi. Close to all the amenities of the area, and about 20 mins walk to the Kwai bridge. There are many activities and tours to do in the area so it makes a great base to stay for a few days.
Good location but Bungalows small”
I have stayed at Sam's once before, in their 1 bedroom hut. The hut was nice, spacious enough and felt like a little home to camp out in. The Bungalows, however, are quite small. The triangle shape truly makes you feel like you are living in a section of a house of cards. There were just 2 twin beds with the springs all messed up and an adjoining bathroom. It wouldn't have been bad for 2 people I suppose...but considering the hut would have been OK for 3, I mistakenly tried to squeeze 3 people in this triangle bungalow. The staff does what they are told must usually with some grumbling. The water shut off unexpectedly for 30 minutes in the middle of the day. The location is on the main road with bars and restaurants, just a little 5 minute walk.
CHeap Place in a Quiet Area”
This is a good option for visiting Kanchanaburi. It is on a street with many hotel options and about a half hour walk to the famous Bridge on the River Kwai. It was a quiet neighbourhood and close to restaurants on the river.
Good location on the river”
Comfortable stay here but we were given two single beds pushed together that weren't quite together! Room was clean and tidy and with the aircon was all that with needed. Guesthouse only served breakfast which was alright as there were plenty of other places nearby.
this is a good choice for backpacker”
Convenience for find something to eat and near city you can rent bicycle or motorcycle so easily this guesthouse has car park and wireless This is best choice for tourist who want to safe ur money ka
Nice Flora , Small rooms”
Rooms small but clean, nice bath room with Good hot shower. The bed was too big for the room, and no place to hang your clothes. The water gardens added a good feel to the place as did the wooden lodges. Sams house guesthouse is only a minuits walk from the main st full of (yawn) bars, food stalls and restaurants.
