What a disappointment ”
We have had many holidays on Koh Samet but this was the most expensive and the most disappointing. All the reviews commended the food, which is a critical part of our holiday. The resort was so beautiful, our room was excellent with all the facilities in it. The resort location was fabulous, the staff smiling and friendly. But.....the food was very poor. Huge variety of breakfast dishes but all Luke warm or cold.. the coffee was lukewarm and the boy making the omelette was very inexperienced, the end result floating in oil with a texture of scrambled egg. The diviner’s in the evening were just average and ordinary, nothing special. We only have three day holidays, and spent a little more on the resort because of its rating and reviews. Fortunately we found a fabulous swimming beach in the next small bay over and we swam twice per day in the clean water and the pristine beach, which was infinitely better than the Stony beach by the resort, our salvation to a enjoyable holiday.
Good, quiet location on Ao Phai beach in Koh Samet. Would definitely return and recommend this resort to other travellers. The downside of the resort had no signal for certain mobile services and the hotel had wifi issues which was a bit of a let down. Other than that we had a great time.
Lovely resort ”
Lovely resort. Very clean and maintained both inside and out. Excellent breakfast included in room rate. Excellent dinners at very reasonable price between 12 to 15 nz dollars. Our room was the basic room. Still excellent. Large bed. Big fridge. Balcony. Jug. Coffee etc.Aircon. Excellent room rate. Drink prices only a little more than the nearby convenience store. Nice little beach. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Overall we had a lovely experience on koh samet. Would definitely recommend. Extra costs. When u land on the wharf from ferry you pay 20 baht each. Going though the town you have to pay another 100 each to the park wardens Ferry prices 50 baht one way. Bus to Bangkok from ban phe wharf is 165 each. Mini bus from pattaya to ban phe 450 including one way ferry. Enjoy KohSamet
Always a Great Stay”
I've stayed at Samed Villas in various capacities pretty much since it opened many years ago. I've stayed as a young couple, as a couple with a baby, all the way up until now with a 13 year old kid. This time we stayed as several families with a total of about 16 people and we all had a superb time. Rooms were great and clean as usual, lots of snacks and drinks in the rooms, got upgraded on the family room where all the kids stayed which was great, plus the breakfast was a good mix of western and Thai dishes. The beach was clean and there were enough chairs even though the resort was quite busy. The new beachclub at Tubtim around the corner is excellent as well and we did a day there (I hear it's owned by Samed Villa's daughter). Very minor issues with the service being a bit slow, but to be honest, I know times are tough and they're probably normally quite quiet at the moment so not enough staff on hand, so it's very forgivable. Also the facilities are a bit limited as compared to what we're used to staying in Koh Chang, but again, totally different sort of place so it's definitely forgivable not having a pool or gym. A solid 9.2 out of 10 from me and we'll all certainly be back. Highly recommended.
Excellent stay ”
The resort was on the beach inclusive of the rocky patch - they provide bench on the beach and also serve drinks and food - The room were cozy and clean while if you want sea view that is also available - The occupancy was on mostly family and crowd was good - breakfast was excellent and overall food taste was very good - At night dinner table are laid on the beachfront with Barbeque and good lighting- it was amazing environment to dine there - There are other restaurants and bar next to the resort like silver sand and also a disc but the food of Samed villa was better - Staff were very courteous and the lady at the reception. Was always smiling and very helpful - we really enjoyed our stay at samed villa and would strongly recommend the resort to others and would also love to come back there .
Lovely place for honeymoon/vacation”
The place is nice, beautiful, and comfy. The staffs give us the best room (room A19), in front of restaurant and just 30m to the beach! The receptionist is fluent in english, and all the staffs are polite and nice! It was pleasant experienced for me and my wife and i will definitely be back to this place someday. Super recommended for everyone who wants a lovely experience at koh samed. Thanks samed villa resort!
All you could wish for…”
All you could wish for to make your stay on Koh Samet very comfortable and very memorable… We upgraded to a Sea View Deluxe room… something I would definitely recommend doing…our room A2 meant a beautiful sea view with no steps or stairs! Room very clean and really well decorated. Good beds, lovely shower room and good tea/ coffee making facilities… Food there was really good and fairly priced. Good breakfast with good selection. Situated right in the corner of the long sweeping bay it had such an “ away from it all” feeling. Staff very attentive… even calling our Speedboat company to confirm our return…
Stayed on Samet many times but never Ao Phai before. The beach is lovely, the position of the resort is excellent, its easy to find fault with anything anywhere, but we have no complaints about our stay which we thoroughly enjoyed. We will stay again.
Great place for relaxation”
We found Samed Villa Resort exact as they described here. The view and amenities of this resorts are amazing. Staffs are very friendly and ready to serve. The resort is quiet large. The breakfast area is the most charming place in the resort. The room was very good. Wifi was great too. Their food is best across the Samed Island i suppose. Overall we loved the place and will stay here again if we visit Samed again.
one of the few things to improve on the island”
Samet seems to have become very commercialised now, but this hotel remains the best deal. rooms stil pristin,e service first class and a decent breakfast. wifi is a bit up and down, mainly as everyone was watching youtube I guess, staff happy to help me as I work online bu letting me use a hard wire for 10 minutes. they cant do enough for you at this resort. Beds comfy, bathrooms modern and good towels. if you want a beach bed, copy the others and put a towel down at 6AM ( that annoys me) :) Evening food on the beach is perfect too
A nice little tasteful resort right on the beach. Off season prices good value. Location was ideal, on a small beach called Ao Phai which was a little rocky and we didn't swim there but a two minute walk south was a really beautiful beach for swimming called Tubtim and 5-10 minutes north is the larger Sai Keaw beach. A ten minute walk to the main town which is a plus if you want to go to the 7-11 or more local restaurants and eateries. Restaurant was really nice, as was the buffet breakfast. I would say its one of the best options on the island for the price. Some of the staff weren't particularly friendly which is unusual in Thailand but still gave good service.
Wow....beautiful place right on the beach...we had a beachfront bungalow.....great room .great food....what an amazing array of food at breakfast...free beds and towels on the beach..canoes for hire 100baht per hour...will stay at samet villa resort again next time on samet....
Best food prices and quality in the area! ”
Food prices can be high on Samet. But their prices were lower than even the small restaurant in the area. I was impressed with food quality as well. The resort is very well managed and service is good. The swimming area in front is too crowded for me and does have some rocks....there are many better places for swimming and snorkeling worth searching out. I was surprised that the resort...which has a LOT of rooms...did not have a swimming pool. I prefer swimming in the ocean...but still....
Excellent Seaview Resort”
Booked 2 Deluxe Seaview rooms, as we had friends visiting from the UK & they had never visited Koh Samed before. Was very pleasantly surprised by the rooms, very spacious & comfortable, with lovely sized bathroom. Food was excellent & therefore we ended up eating there for most of our meals, once sitting on the veranda area & twice on the evenings, when they set up tables & chairs on the beach right next to the seashore. Plenty to choose from at breakfast time, both Thai & Western, including omelettes made to order. Good that they have dedicated sun loungers & free towels for guests to use, both on the beach & on a rocky outcrop out the front of the rooms, where we had booked. Staff all very friendly & acknowledged us whenever they met us. Will definitely be revisiting Samed Villa resort on our next visit to the island
Right on the beach great holiday room”
This place is right on the beach, we arrived with a speedboat directly drop us on the beach. We call the hotel staff to help for the luggage as we can’t drag them on sand. They were really helpful. We stayed in the ocean view cottage style room which is really nice and spacious. The only complaint is the bathroom has a bad smell. The beach and water were nice, we had dinner at this resort it’s delicious and cheap. Highly recommend Koh samet!
"+" close to the beach, good price for a bungalow, beach chairs and beach towels. can rent a mask for snorkeling, fins, kayak. have omelette for breakfast. friendly staff. "-" no toothbrush provided. very few dessert options for breakfast buffet. loud music at night from a neighbor bar. need to pay extra 200 baht upon entering koh Samet as a fee for being in a national park (although i had my hotel booking, i still had to pay to the National Park security guards).
Wonderful stay at Samed Villa - I’ve previously stayed next beach around and had always thought I should give this resort a try I was not to be disappointed as expectations were exceeded in every way .. newly renovated room was fabulous - setting overlooking the beach and headland was stunning Staff were ever obliging. Breakfast was way better than other resorts I’ve stayed along this beach
Very nice breakfast ”
Very nice resort, very modern, nice beaches around very besutiful. Breakfast was really good, chef is great i loved the potatoes and pumpkin soup. Stuff is nice , everything is really nice. Only thing that bothered me was loud disco music from bars in the area until midnight . Its a shame last few years all around samet island people like me who come to enjoy peaceful environment ends up like i rented the room in pattaya in walking street next to disco bar. I hope managment in this hotel and others can do something about it. Other then that everything was nice , also morning smell around my room was unbeareble it smelled like toilets really strong. That something that can be fixed after loud music awoken in morning by suige smell ! I am sorry but i was glad it was one night stay.
We chose Samed Villa after reading the reviews. We enjoyed our stay and really appreciated the staff”
Cons, the beach is a little rocky, BUT not a deal breaker. The location is perfect, food was excellent and the staffbwas top notch. Koh Samet is going down in quality from years past, but staying at Samed Villa was a great choice.
We loved this place and even after exploring other parts of Koh Samed we quickly realized our resort had everything we needed and ended up eating meals there quite a bit. At night it's helpful to reserve tables as they fill up quickly. Was great to have our own beachfront with umbrellas, chairs, and towels. Free breakfast was amazing. Overall great value for price and would stay here again. It is very family/couple oriented just for the solo traveler to keep in mind.
