Beautiful place with great service”
Samsara has a beautiful lush garden around the pool that makes for a really good atmosphere. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. The staff are professional and attentive. They are also very honest. Someone in our group left their ipad and the staff kept it safe until we could retrieve it. Thanks for a great stay!
An Oasis in Phnom Penh”
A lovely, quiet oasis of green with a pool to chill in or beside. Although there were some problems with the plumbing, my room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. When the problem reoccurred, staff changed my room and upgraded it. I would definitely stay here again - and also can highly recommend their banana milkshakes!
Very friendly, pretty well located boutique hotel”
Enjoyed our one night here. The staff were very welcoming and we enjoyed our room. The kids special on the menu is a great value and we enjoyed our dinner. The only minus was that phone didn't work in the room. Would definitely recommend to others.
Nice boutique hotel with great breakfast and pool”
I've stayed at this hotel a number of times but this was my first visit with my family. There were five of us, 3 in one room (with extra bed) and 2 in another room. The manager has changed from a French gentleman to a French lady since my last visit, but fortunately she maintains the same friendliness and standard of service as the previous manager. Overall, I can't really fault anything much - it would have been nice to have a sofa in our room (there was a sofa in the other room) although that was a minor issue and there was even a communal sofa and coffee table just outside the room. The pool was refreshing as usual and the location itself is fairly quiet due to being located in a small lane off a road close to the Indian, Vietnamese and Thai embassies, amongst others. Although not in the riverside area, it's only a 15-20 minute car or tuk-tuk ride from there with traffic (10 minutes from the AEON shopping mall) but it's within walking distance to the Japanese district and various embassies.
A good place to stay and near by a Japanese Street”
if you are planning to be in PP, it is important where you stay. Location is a main issue, tho it is pretty easy to move around the city. Samsara is in a very quite place (not on a main street), neat by a Great Japanese street (restos, Coffee shops, Hairdresser...) and it is an easy point to get around main important spots in PP.! I will definitely come back to stay with them... Although, they can make better for breakfast...
Near by Embassies and perfect to relax”
Are you going to have an appointment / Meetting at Thailand/Japan Embassies? this is the perfect hotel to stay ! It is located at walking distance from their sites. also, If you are into Japanese culture, there is a new Japanese street going up near by the hotel with a nice variety of Nippon restaurants, coffee shops and even a hair dresser.
Exceptional service, beautiful Khmer style rooms ”
I booked a taxi to bring me to the hotel after arriving on an evening THAI Airways flight from Bangkok. Little did I know beforehand that Samsara Villa doesn't actually own it's own vehicles so they just outsource regular airport taxis to bring guests to the hotel. Therefore it wasn't worth paying $15 for a taxi when normally they only charge $12 to the hotel with plenty of taxis waiting. Also, by not having a taxi waiting for me, I could have had some Burger King, which is located just after arrivals as it was getting late and I didn't want to stop somewhere for dinner. In the end I went to Tour Les Jours for a sandwich and a salad, after which the driver drove me to the hotel. Upon arriving, I was greeted by the new French manager (the previous manager now manages a hotel in Kampong Cham) and she upgraded me to a suite. The suite featured a huge bed, two TVs (one in the lounge room, one in the bedroom), working desk, comfortable lounge and coffee table, walk-in wardrobe and storage room and a separate shower/bath and toilet. My only gripe was that the hot water was only lukewarm at best, even the next morning. Maybe this was due to the solar hot water heating system and the fact that there was a strong thunderstorm that started just after I arrived at the hotel and lots of clouds earlier in the day all over the region.
All in all a very nice stay but just a couple of things let this place down, firstly there wasn't any hot water in the bathroom, just some lukewarm water. The waiter at breakfast was quite forgetful so our breakfast was a haphazard affair but it was tasty and had good variety. Lastly upon check out we were charged a rather steep $3 for two bottles of water we drank in our room as there wasn't any complimentary water provided.
excellent place, pet friendly”
A real value for money with very nice rooms, great staff and nice garden. Location is little bit far to walk to main attractions and nightlife, but there are a lot of tuk tuks and its a very short ride. One of the best options in Phnom Penh. Pet friendly.
Boutique hotel, great service, good price”
This is my current favorite place to stay in Phnom Penh. For a low price you get a very nice modern room with little touches of class not seen very much anywhere else. The staff is great, the food very good. It is in a quiet area but 5 minutes from everything a site-seer wants to see. Did I mention a really good staff? They speak English, French, Khmer and I don't know how many other languages.
Lovely little boutique hotel”
Although, like most people, we struggled to find the hotel initially, that had paled into insignificance by the time we left! The hotel itself is beautiful, with a lovely pool and well designed lounge areas outside all the rooms. The pictures don't really do it justice. Our room was comfortable and well equipped, the food was excellent and the staff were just brilliant - really attentive, friendly and helpful. It may be a little way out of town but within walking distance of the Russian Market and a couple of reasonable restaurants so comes highly recommended.
Beautifully restored villa located on quiet alley”
Despite being a regular visitor to Phnom Penh, finding this hotel was a pain. It wasn't the location, but that nobody knew how to find it! We spent about 1 hour driving around in circles in the local area trying to find the hotel. Security guards nearby, just 100-200m from the hotel all either claimed that "there are no hotels on this street" or that the hotel is located somewhere else in the surrounding areas. In fact the hotel is located about halfway along street 466 with a hard to make out sign (at least when it's dark) pointing in the direction of the hotel. After finally arriving at 1am, nobody opened the door for 20 minutes all the while there were dogs barking in the background. Once finally let inside, the staff were more than helpful and showed me to my room quite quickly. Breakfast was very nice, featuring freshly baked croissants, bread and homemade jams, fruit juice (orange, mango, pineapple, apple), tea/coffee (peppermint tea was my favorite), fried rice, eggs, bacon and muesli with milk or yoghurt. Staff happily asked if I wanted more and brought seconds if requested. The French owner was very helpful organizing my visa extension and local driver's license renewal as well as booking of onward transport. Even though I eventually went back to Poipet with a taxi I found myself, staff were very helpful and obliging to all requests despite one or two miscommunications. The hotel features a number of sofas where one could read and relax outside of the room and the gardens are beautifully landscaped. Apart from one night when a wedding was held next door and thus was noisy until midnight, at all other times the hotel area was very quiet and like an oasis from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. My only complaints would be that my room was not made up on 2 occasions (out of a total 6 night stay) and on one occasion the hot water didn't work for 30 mins. If you need to extend your stay without booking through Agoda, note that the hotel only accepts cash.
It depends what kind of stay you're looking for ”
My friend and I stayed here for a night. It is a relatively new hotel in a secluded location. It took a long time for our driver to find the hotel... we asked a lot of people for directions along the way and got confused with the Sat Nav. Upon arrival I was impressed with the look of the place. Hidden behind high white gates, it's very welcoming. A pretty building with a small but clean pool. The French owner made a big effort to make us feel at home. The room was a decent size. The towels and sheets were immaculate, something which I've come to appreciate I'm Cambodia. Oddly, our room had no TV or phone. When we came back from a big night on the town, the tuk tuk driver had difficulty finding the hotel again, then we discovered there was no water in the fridge available for purchase. The breakfast is made to order, which is a nice change from buffet. There were a few businesspeople chilling out downstairs doing important- looking things on their laptops (or perhaps analysing their FB page intently, who knows). Overall, although I probably wouldn't go out of my way to stay here again, I can imagine my dad really liking it, or a businessperson or family. It's great value for money.
Great little oasis! ”
This is a beautiful find! I used to live in Cambodia and came back for a visit. This was the perfect place as it very much embodies what Cambodia means to me: kind individuals, serene surroundings and delicious food. The place is central while just a bit away from the city business. The pool and greenery offer a great feeling of being away, while remaining close to restaurants, tourist attractions and markets. The area is also surprisingly quiet, offering the best sleep! The staff are very kind and accommodating, especially the manager Joseph. I had to request some changes due to under circumstances, and he readily accepted, though he was not even working that day. This was particularly helpful as I was still very jet lagged and would have really suffered otherwise. The rooms are spacious,, clean and well decorated. The pictures are very authentic! Thank you again for this great stay and I absolutely recommend this place!
Nice Get Away”
Great staff, good management, free breakfast, uncrowned pool, plants, shade, nice rooms with AC. Need I say more. Not centrally located is the only draw back for tourists.
Room #7 is great!
Nana was preparing a super nice breakfast. Her friendly smile, attitude and the way she treat the guest, is superb. Love her smile. Will go back and stay again when my next trip to Phnom Penh.
A villa with character and a modern dependance in a lush tropical garden. A quiet place, on a side alley, away from the city’s rushing life. A delicious breakfast with lots of options. A restaurant with numerous dishes on the a la carte menu. Tuk-tuk on standby outside the gate. Cars can pass through the comfortably wide alley. Excellent WiFi.
We stayed 3 nights in Samsara Villa end of January. The hotel was beautiful and quiet, the rooms very spacious and beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable during our stay. Location is quite good. there are a few restaurants and a supermarket in the neighbourhood. City center is far but there are always tuktuks available in front of the hotel so going around was made smooth and easy. On the whole we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose Samsara Villa again if we ever happen to travel to Cambodia again.
Nice tidy hotel but disappointed with noise on Saturday”
It had been a pleasant stayed in this hotel with a lovely staff, nice room and good choices of breakfast menu. We planed on just stay inside the hotel as it was quite far from the river area, but we disappointed with the pool party on Saturday as it was so much noise and kids running around the hotel. We can't even read the book and enjoy ourselves. That was a terrible part of staying here. Staff was lovely. One of the best in the room was the water pleasure in the bathroom was so good and we enjoyed it a lot. We would not go back there as it would be awful to pick the same date that they were having the pool party again.
