This boutique hotel is housed in wooden Thai houses that date back to the reign of King Rama 6. The Grand Palace, Temple of Reclining Buddha, and Temple of the Dawn are all near Samsen sam Place. Just a kilometer away is the tourist haven of Khaosan Road, filled with bars, nightclubs, and shops. A short taxi ride from the hotel will take guests to Siam Square, filled with small boutique stores and several shopping malls. Despite the age of the property, the facilities are modern with Internet access as well as 24-hour room service. Walking distance to historical sites in Bangkok, and also close to entertainment and shopping venues, is Samsen sam Place.

Samsen Sam Place is a wonderful little hostel located in a quiet unassuming alley street off of the main road (Samsen Rd). It is located in an old wooden Thai home. This makes the location quite appealing with beautiful wooden floors and quaint touches throughout. My room was one of the two suites which afforded me with a large double bed, a workspace table, two seating chairs, a small beauty station, and a large bathroom. The bathroom had a little wardrobe where I was able to put my luggage and keep my clothes accessible as I stayed for 7 nights. The shower was quite large and the water pressure and availability of hot water just what you’d want. While the bathroom amenities were basic again, it was all that was needed. There are plenty of restaurants nearby to choose from as well as easy access to money exchange locations and atm’s. It is also very easy to call a Grab to come and take you wherever you want to go.
Fantastic location for sightseeing, river and more”
I originally booked just 2 nights at this place as this was my first stay in BKK and I wasn't sure about location - it looked from the map as if it were far from a metro/BTS. I thought this might be a problem. Not at all. In fact, I extended my stay here to the total of 5 nights because as it turned out the location is absolutely perfect - within walking distance to the key tourist attractions like the Grand Palace (20-30 min stroll), Wat Pho i.e. the Reclining Buddha Temple (2nd largest in Thailand), the Temple of the Dawn (5 minutes to the river pier no. 14 for the boat ride), and the Vimanmek Mansion (15 minutes north - free ticket with the Grand Palace ticket). And of course - the Khaosan Road - is literally 10 min walk away. Getting right into the busy (noisy) centre of BKK was not a problem either (although I must say I was glad to return to my riverside location) a fast taxi was only 80Baht, if you have no luggage a tuk tuk might be fun as well. The rooms and common areas are exquisitely clean and well maintained. My room was a Delux with private bathroom, which had a powerful western-style shower and toilet, big mirror and a full array of complimentary toiletries (incl. comb, toothbrush & paste, plus the usual shampoo & soap). The bed was super soft but comfortable (none of that sinking feeling...), the TV with satellite channels (incl. BBC/CNN/HBO etc), air-conditioning, a fridge and free WiFi - all made for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast menu had 4 sets - and I loved the chicken&rice soup set in particular (toast / eggs also available). All in all - highly recommended, if/when I return to BKK I will definitely be staying at the Sam Sen Sam Place again! Thanks again to the SSS Place Team for your wonderful hospitality!
Samsen Sam Place is like a little oasis in Bangkok, which can be pretty hectic. Location is great, since it is close to Khao San Road and Pier 13 to take a boat that will take you to the main attractions. The room was very spacious and clean, which we highly appreciate. Staff was very friendly and they even arranged a grab taxi to take us to the airport.
Boutique guesthouse in a great location”
We had a great stay at Samsen sam Place a boutique guesthouse in a great location of town within a short stroll of public transportation, the bustling night life of Khoa San Road, and waterfront dining - also close by are historical landmarks and temples. There's a cafe located on the property which we didn't have the opportunity to try because of our short stay. However we would stay here again if we're in the area, recommended!
Far out but so coool”
the Samsen Sam Place is a bit off the beaten track. You will need to take the boat taxi to get there (connecting from the BTS). But it is worth it. You have clean rooms with mattresses that don't make you wonder who slept on them last (as opposed to the Sukhumvit area). Lots to do at night. Feels like a bed and breakfast. Shucks, the secret is out!
For the price, it's hard to imagine how one could do better than Samsen Sam. The rooms were squeaky clean, and the laundry service was dirt cheap. The guesthouse is also on a quiet street, and it's a short walk to the Chao Phraya riverboat express. But perhaps best of all, Samsen's staff is really fantastic. I couldn't recommend this place more highly.
Great stay at a great guesthouse”
We really enjoyed our stay at this guesthouse. The owner is a very nice man who speaks excellent English. We had free wifi in our room (but not all rooms come with wifi), and free wifi in lobby area too. They gave us a good breakfast in the morning and gave us some very useful information about the area, such as what to do, where to eat, get a beer, etc. The only thing that slightly confused us was that all of the roads in the area were call Samsen Road, but they were Samsen 1, 2, 3, etc. We didn't realize this until we had walked up and down two of them, so be aware of that. We will definitely stay at this guesthouse again the next time we are in Bangkok.
We stayed in December, in a great room in old building and the day affter in the new part. Great location and accomodation. They also helped us with the airport shuttle. Thank you Samsen sam Place
i stayed here for one night july 19 with my girlfriend. its one of the best hotels ive used in bangkok and that includes 4 star. rooms are spotless, beautiful old building. staff very helpful. khaosan road is only a ten minute walk will use the sam sen sam next time im in bangkok
Just what we needed”
For our first night in Bangkok before moving to Kanchanaburi we were just looking for clean, quiet hotel not too far from the southern bus terminal! Sam Sen Sam look ok on the internet and at a reasonable prize including breakfast we were more than happy with it! Arriving late on the night there was someone there to show us round with an ice glass of water, the room was a good size with clean shower and a nice tradional Thai feel around the place! the staff were very friendly and helped us get to the bus station in the morning, writing the address for the taxi driver in Thai for us and pointing us in the right direction without even asking! It had the added benefit that its in easy walking distance of Khoasan Road! Stanard breakfast was good too!
Warm, friendly staff; charming hotel”
Sam Sen Sam is excellently located, about a 20-30 min walk to the Grand Palace/Wat Pho, and 10 minutes from Khao San (a road I recommend avoiding, but the area around it is nice for restaurants and other sightseeing activities). But it's on a quiet lane -- across the street from a small wat -- so you won't get the noise and bustle of the city. By far and away the best thing about Sam Sen Sam, though, is its amazing staff. After making the original Agoda booking, I came back here many times on different stop offs in Bangkok -- the staff here remembered my name, what I'd been up to, and did their best to help me on the next leg of my journey.
fantastic guest house away from the noise”
we really enjoyed our stay at the sam sen sam guest house. very friendly staff and owners and very helpful also. our room was beautiful and clean and big enough to enjoy. bathroom was plenty big enough and very clean and tidy. it was great to be away from the middle of bangkok and found the water taxi, which was only 5 minutes walk to be a great experience. the taxi took us to the sky train which was easy to negotiate as well. the guest house had been in the family for generations and was well maintained wooden building but had all the electronic key systems and air conditioning.
Lovely place to stay and great location”
We loved Sam Sen Sam, staff very friendly, breakfast lovely and if you love your food like my husband does they will get you more toast etc at no extra charge. Room and surrounds extremely clean and cosy, the front counter is always manned. No tea and coffee facilities in the room, but there is a coffee bar down in foyer entrance. We were in room 2 and it could get a little bit noisy due to fellow travelers being a bit inconsiderate and slamming the door, not Sam Sen Sams fault though. All in all a very pleasant stay would definitely stay there again.
A pleasant boutique hotel on a quiet side street”
An adorable boutique hotel. The staff were gracious, helpful, fairly easy to communicate with. The room was simple but elegant. The bathroom was 1/3 of the room and comfortable. The only negative was the TV was far from the bed, but we weren't there to watch TV. Make sure you request a room with air conditioning. Transportation is easy to get. Easy to walk to Kao San Road, and the water taxi. Perfect for back packers or people site seeing. The breakfast was adequate. Madame Lek(?), Let(?) was lovely and gracious, helpful. Also, book a tour to the floating market...glad we didn't skip it. Thank you staff at Sam Sen Sam.
A wonderful place to stay”
We were a group of three friends who stayed at the Sam Sen Sam for a week. We had a great time! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were excellent, being clean, tidy, quiet and comfortable. The hotel itself is an old aristocratic mansion and oozes with historic character. It has been beautifully maintained. Its location is superb, being in a quiet side street just a ten minute walk away from Banglamphoo. There are excellent cafes and bars nearby (inculding Mai Kaidee's for veges). Would definitely stay again!
Lovely hotel with great location”
Sam Sen Sam was a great place to stay. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. We loved the location, as it was close to daytime sights and a river taxi stop. It was also near several great street food options. The breakfast was also decent, especially in comparison to what we found in other hotels in Thailand.
Quiet location with easy access to the noise of the city ”
Stayed here for 2 nights after arriving in Bangkok. First night we were put in the wrong room but we were upgraded for the second night so overall everything worked out fine. Both rooms were great value for money. We’d payed for private bathroom but ended up having to use the shared facilities on our first night. They were clean and did not cause us any discomfort, our upgraded room was beautiful. The location was great, just 5 mins from KhaoSan road down a quiet street. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Rooms were bright and clean and everything we needed for our 2 night stay in the city.
little oasis in busy Bangkok!”
Sam sen Sam place is conveniently located in a quiet side road of the bustling khao San road area. The place offers great escape and feels like a little oasis given the popular location for backpackers. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great value for money. Would definitely book again.
Lovely hotel and staff”
The location is great, not too far from, but also not too close to the craziness of Khaosan Road. The staff was very friendly; they wrote for me a note in Thai to hand to a tuk-tuk driver instructing him to take me to certain places for a certain price. The hotel itself is really cute, as was my room. I enjoyed the breakfast as well, and would stay there again.
Very nice and interesting hotel”
The hotel was very nice, very close to the Samsen Rd. (5-10 min. walk) but in a quiet area, also very close to the river and water bus station. Breakfast was good and the service was perfect. The only small problem that we had was with the air conditioner unit - the air was directed to the bed and the low speed was in fact quite powerful, so it was hard to sleep with it on. But all in one, everything was ok.
