Good for groups
Booked into a 4 person room with friends. The room is really nice and comfortable. 4 beds, nice shared bathroom, extra sink, fridge, tv etc. There is a dining table and bar area in the room. All for around £20 between 4 people. Overall for what we wanted at the time it was perfect. Didn't see the staff much and when we did she never seemed too happy. Location isn't great but if you're with a group of friends or family the room is perfect to chill out in or take a 15minute walk into the busy areas.

Not bad
The room was on the third floor for 3 people. Location is good if you have a bike, quite place as well. The only problems is that water stopped every minure for the 10 sec and the beds were on the rollers.

no frills basic accommodation
affordable price and helpful staff
Only stayed here for a night before leaving Koh Samui. Reasonably clean and comfortable room. Do note that toilet paper is not provided, bring your own! The hotel is slightly off the main road and both my travel agent and the Songthaew driver had no idea where it was located. Try using the "Ruean Kratha Ron restaurant" (a BBQ buffet place) on the main road as a reference landmark - turn into the small lane at its side and the hotel is a short uphill walk away. The staff I first encountered didn't speak much English, but she got me on the phone with her lady boss who was very helpful and allowed me to check-in earlier when the room was available. I was on the 3rd floor and for some reason couldn't connect to the wifi most of the time and had to use internet at the lobby/reception.

Spacious room, price
It started as a disaster, the floors were a bit dirty, air cond was not working, patches of black spot at toilet, and the room has a smell like it has been vacant for a long time. Gradually, we got things worked out and it's not too bad after all for the price, considering we are not at the hotel most of the time. The room and beds were spacious, hot water for shower, and for air cond to work we just need to turn on the powerful button. And there's a very nice restaurant 'Baden' operating just few steps away from hotel, try the Thai curry dishes and the fruit shakes! Do note that the hotel is a bit far from Chaweng Central and at least 45 mins walk to the famous pubs and bars so just take the public transport or rent a bike.

The room was comfortable and had a tv and aircon. Wifi was ok. However the location is far from the beach and main area. A good 15 to 20min walk to be exact.

Value For Money with bad internet
comfort, close to the restaurant, nothing else
I really liked Econo Lodge but last day some one from guest started downloading something and internet went out of GB traffic and wasnt working for 2 days, after calling manager for hotel, she said it will be fixed within a day, but it wasn't. I recommend this hotel only if you don't need internet at all.

Great value for money but mind arrival time
Spacious room, location, price
The hotel is in the very beginning of Chaweng if you go from Lamai. It has spacious rooms and even big family rooms with two double beds. There is no food service inside but hundred meters down to the main street you have a variety of inexpensive but very nice & tidy Thai cuisine cafes. Advised to eat here as in the middle of Chaweng the prices will be higher. Family Mart is 50 more meter to the left as you go to the main street. Although it's really close to Chaweng (20-30 minutes walk will bring you to the very heart of Chaweng beach) it's quiet in the night, there's nothing loud around the hotel (and it's 100 meters uphill from the main road). Overall it's a perfect place to stay for backpackers, first time comers to Thailand, and families. I think some people even rent their rooms as "condo" for long term. The only difficulty you might come across - if you come between 8pm and 10pm there might be no one welcoming you. The reception door is literary closed during this time, the staff seems to be having a long change-over. Maybe if they have a reservation they will stay ti meet you up but better check in befor 8pm or after 10pm. Also mind they hold a key deposit of 1000 baht & return it on check-out. Ask twice what time the staff will be at the reception, because if you check out too early, again, the reception might be closed and there will be nobody to return your deposit. I checked out at 7am (reception closed) and had to come once more in the daytime to get back the deposit.

Clean & comfortable hotel
Comfortable, clean & in a quiet area
After travelling to the north of Thailand, we needed a hotel with a good size bathroom where we could take a nice shower. And that's what we've got! The rooms are of a good size too, & very clean. The air con & internet worked perfectly too. The only drawback was that there was no elevator, we were on the 2nd floor & had to drag up our luggage. The hotel is situated on a small hill, but we rented a jeep, therefore that didn't affect us. There's a good car / bike rental place just round the corner from the hotel. We also had some pets here, a few stray dogs who used to welcome us every time we stepped out or into our rooms. Don't expect any nice views, but expect to see a buffalo in the yard of the house opposite the hotel! The animal is harmless, so you can just walk past it with no trouble at all :)
