New Hotel just shaking out”
The San Jiang is a recently completed hotel (Jan 2013). The rooms were bright and clean. The staff really tried although we did have a language barrier. The hotel is quite a distance from the center of the city and not yet well known to taxi drivers. Little things that may be corrected in time - one small bar of soap for a three day stay, mini bar refrigerator that wouldn't cool, no chairs arount the pool, very inadequate gym, no bar, breakfast where hot things weren't hot and weren't replenished when they ran out, no credt card machine. These things all should be worked out in time.

Lovely hotel! Staff is helpful and hotel is good!”
It is good new hotel. Rooms are clean. Good to sleep. Not nearby the center of Vientiane but nearby Mekong River. Tuk tuk to city center around 3 USD. Dinner is grear however menu in Chinese language. But staff can help to translate. Breakfast is simple but ok. I expected dim sum and other chinese food. But haven't got.

Decent Hotel in the Center of Vientiane”
after having been to vientiane a number of times and staying at the supaphone guest house, i decided to stay at a different hotel in the city. this hotel is located very near samsenthai road and joma cafe, offering a good central location. rooms were clean and decently appointed but small. the room was very similar to other similar hotel rooms in vientiane. the staff were pleasant and willing to help. overall, a good stay, but the hotel offered no distinguishing points from other similar hotels in the city.

a business hotel with helpful staff”
We stayed overnight here as it was a very reasonable price. The carpets in the corridors are so thick that you feel you need snow shoes to walk along them! However it is a fair way from the centre of Vientiane and it's confusing that there are 2 hotels with the same name near each other We dined at the Chinese Restaurant at the hotel and unfortunately the menu is only in Chinese but we had a wonderful meal and the staff really tried to be helpful.

Comfortable modern hotel a little out of town ”
A large modern hotel curiously located in the middle of the out of town Chinese market. The hotel is geared up for chinese guests. Rooms are large, clean, modern and with excellent bathrooms. Despite being 2/3 Kilometres from downtown it is a swift 5 minute taxi or tuk tuk ride in.The very reasonable room rate more than compensates for this minor inconvenience. No wifi but a free computer room. Breakfast very Chinese in style. No bar, restaurant or lounge for guests but big function rooms for conferences ,weddings etc. There is a minibar in the room and some very good restaurant bars overlooking the Mekong just 5 minutes walk away. Staff speak enough English and are most obliging.

Have a care”
We stayed in January 2012 and the hotel was not yet open, this appeared to be reflected in the price we paid so we were OK with that, So the gym was not open, there were no pool chairs etc I suggest if a facility is important and you are going shortly then check before you go. We had a great stay because our bed had was uber comfortable, brand new, as were the sheets, the staff were some of the best I have ever come across. The hotel is in a slightly out of the way location, but very close to one of the better famous and busy restaurants in area down overlooking the river, next door to a huge shopping centre with it's share of fake handbags etc and close to quite a few sushi restaurants. Downsides the hotel has a huge snagging list and the mainly chinese clientele who smoke everywhere, make sure you get a non-smoking room.

Spacious, clean, catered to Chinese tourists”
The room was spacious, clean, and everything was provided that most hotels would provide. Bed was very hard, it felt almost like sleeping on a carpet. Breakfast was decent with quite a few choices, but it is catered towards Asians and mainly the Chinese, hence it may not sit well with others. It was ok for us as we are Singaporean Chinese and used to it. Location was abit far from the Mekong River, we had to walk out to the main road and hail a shared tuk-tuk. We picked the hotel as we only had to stay one night before our early flight home next day, so we could walk about 45 minutes to Wattay International Airport from the hotel, which was what we wanted. Good enough a stay!

Lovely rooms, poor location”
This hotel is close to the airport and about 3 km from the centre. It is located in the middle of the Chinese commercial district. There are no scenic views. You have to go the centre by tuk tuk although you will pay a trip if you don't negotiate it down . The hotel boasts LAN in the rooms which it doesn't have. Using the internet means occupying a mosquito infested office. The breakfast buffet was terrible. The warm food, mostly for the Chinese quests, got cold very quickly and the western style buffer a disgrace. The poo steps were very dangerous. No safe in the room. The hotel charges room items in dollars and demands deposit in cash. Very inconvenient. It charges its restaurant and KTV in Kip. Very silly. Recently refurbished but definitely not a 4.5 star hotel.

Ok Hotel not the best location”
billed as a five star in the literature, it has a long way to go. the hotel has only been open a few months and not everything is finished. it is a little far out of town on the airport side and in the middle of a chinese wholesale market, so if you want to buy rock crushers or a huge concrete mixer this is the place for you. the staff are very accommodating and the level of english at reception is good. the hotel is aimed at the chinese and we were the only westerners there. breakfast is very good, noodles and dumplings along with eggs and bacon. lots of fruit.

Comfortable Room Need Well Train Staff”
The newly open hotel and we got announcemnet letter in the room that the hotel is on trial opening. Location of the hotel is close to the airport. The hotel is in the middle of basic shopping complex. It was not impressive at all on arrival and check in process however I found the room was comforatble. The drainage in the shower room need attention tofix. TV only with chinese channels. No internet connection, a big challenge for business traveler.

Our room was overlooking the river and I enjoyed the lovely time and the fantastic breakfast by the river. The location was excellent, we could walk around to many cafes, restaurants, spas, shops, night market, temples and enjoy the charming little town! very comfortable”
Room was lovely, very comfortable. Was nice to be able to use the pool. The staff were excellent but spoke very little English. Dinner was very expensive compared to other places. Breakfast was mainly catered towards Chinese guests who are the vast majority who stay here, and so there wasn't much that I wanted to eat. Very nice stay overall though

Good hotel but can be better.”
Pros.... transportation is convenient even though hotel is located out of the city. Money changer and convenient shop is just around the corner. 5 minutes drive to airport. Cons..... breakfast is too Chinese. They should have a better spread of Western and Lao food....eg. omelette, bacon, ham, french loaf, baked beans, cheese and etc. Front desk staff can hardly speak English.
