Friendly staff, great location, good value”
Sanook Sanang is a great value for the money. Our room was clean and cozy, the staff were extremely helpful and the grounds are very nice. It's just off the main road and a short walk to the beach. I would recommend this place but with one caution, it's directly next door to an elephant camp which we discovered our first morning when we woke up to them shrieking and grunting. I don't think these elephants were mistreated but it's also not natural for them to have saddles on their backs or dance to techno music for a show 3 times a day. It was a bit of a downer, although has nothing to do with this resort.

Little Gem”
A basic room set in beautuful grounds, large room which provides comfort and security. Tv, fridge, shower, large double bed although matress is on the hard side, storage and air con. Cleaned daily could not fault with clean towels, staff are very friendly and helpful, very happy to go back and spend more time. The location is perfect in kai bae just behind 7-11 with a elephant sanctuary is just behind. Loved hearing the little ones trump on occassions so cute. Really enjoyed my stay here. 5 min walk to kai bae beach what more could you ask for.

Not the best but not the worst.”
Accommodation is basic. Not good as photos depicts. Rooms smell mouldy. Quite noisy with birds, elephants and cockerels. Mosquitoes a plenty. On check-in the Manager charged 400 baht more than we paid via Agoda saying that the rooms we had booked were unavailable, and quickly became irate with me when I queried this. I raised a complaint with Agoda and was refunded the 400 baht after my stay. Kai Bae as a location is perfect though. You can swim with elephants on the beach. Relaxing place, chilled out island vibe, enough restaurants and bars to keep you busy. Beach is peaceful.

Lovely, clean and friendly hotel!”
We absolutely loved this hotel - family run or so it seemed. Our room was ver clean and spacious with the option of room service daily! There is an elephant camp right next door so when we woke up of a morning we could hear them bathing and playing which was an awesome thing to wake up to! Around 5 minute walk to the quiet beach - lots of restaurants near by and a 7/11 at the end of the road! Really enjoyed our stay here and would be more than happy to stay again!

stayed here 3 nights. hot shower is good, matress was good also. hotel has no restaurant, but there are many just down the road. one restaurant is bad, the ban kai bae; it serves grilled fish which is charcoal black on the back side. the owner declines to make amendment and charges full price. stay in the hotel but do not go this restaurant!

Fine, Convenient Option for an Off-Season Getaway”
The staff here, though limited with English, was so helpful upon my arrival, and upgraded my room for free because of the lack of guests. It rained most of the time I was there, so it was nice to have a quiet, private home base to relax in. The laundry service was cheap and left my clothes smelling so nice and fresh! And I loved being able to see the elephants from my balcony. This is a walk to the beach, and lonely during off-season, but I had no problems with it. The wifi was fast and dependable. Sometimes there is no one at reception, but only for short periods of time--just be patient.

we stay about 11 days august -september 2013,in sanook sanang,but we been here the first time in 2008,the "resort" (because is not!) is ina quiet place at the end of kai bae beach, i think the manager is very bad,was much better the old owner,the thing positive is that our small room was in a garden with a lot of animals all around,like frogs,chickens,gekko,and sometime dogs come to visit us and beatiful cats from others house,very special ones,also birds singing and elephant talking ,we was impressed by this nature,but not by the gestion of this poor hotel,there aresome trouble with the shower,not water pressure,and no amenityes in the bathroom,also for make the room you have to ask! otherwise that people doesn`t care about cleaning,they just used to take out some leaves falling from the trees,that`s all. indoubtedly an unlucky choiche!please don`t go there! ( the only things we are happy to meet the pets!) the thai "manager" is unpleasant,( she doesn`t speak well english,like all the people..)and she doesn`t help us for,was just be able for asking for money for any thingh,from the first day she tell us the list of price of the elephant show,(that we didn`t ask!) also you can see the show for free!because the room is just beside the elephant camp ,so why pay? at the end of our staying we have a problem with the taxi,and she ask us 400 bath for overstaying few hours! the next time we will choose a bungalow on the beach, but every other place is better than this!

Located towards the end of kae bai, this was a great little bungalow resort. Staff were friendly. The place is right next to the elephant park and close to all restaurants and amenities.

Stayed here for 1 night with son and his wife overall was happy with everything apart from the bed was uncomfortable.When i first arrived a lady turned the aircon on with a stick as the remote did not work so had to have it on constantly,instead of them changing the batteries or replacing the remote i could not turn it off!!There doesnt seem to be anybody working there apart from 1 thai lady with 6 month old baby and a 14 year old boy, the owners seemed to act like they were there on holiday as when we got there we were told they were having a sleep at 2 in the afternoon, and there was no one there who spoke english to sort out the rooms later when in the bar area the owners went out for dinner leaving the bar with no one serving you had to help yourself, there were people coming in and sitting down for a bit then getting up and going somwhere else because there was no one to serve them, it just seemed like the owners we not interested in running a buisness just to be there on extended holiday, like i say i was only there 1 night so it might have been a one off and when the owners were there they seemed nice people, i just think they are not used to running a resort, the place could do with a bit of TLC to make sure everything works properly and to make for a comfortable stay, word travels fast and returning customers are very important to a hotel/resort, at the moment i would not recommend it or stay there again until they get new mattresses and pillows.

We took the room with aircon, basic but clean. Very spacious bathroom. The staff went out of its way to answer and solve any questions. Very quiet , nice garden and balcony. Only stayed one night, but would not have mind staying longer if i knew of this place. Maybe a waterboiler could be nice to make some coffee in the morning.

good welcome, considering we arrived really late due to travel upsets. even though we woke the hosts up, they were friendly and courteous. laundry was done simply by us leaving it in the laundry bin in our room, and when i unknowingly left some shorts behind, the woman recognised me in the street, and told me to come get them.

Perfect location, average room, hard matress”
The location is perfect, right near to 7 eleven and close to resturants and the beach. You can book day trips and hire motorbikes from accross the road too. The fan room was too hot at night (at Christmas!) so get A/C at any time of year. The room was basic but good if you are not fussy, it was clean enough but the matress was very firm. Overall not bad for the price.

great location. right in the middle of the town, but far enough from the road so the noise doesn't get you. its on the wrong side of the main road for the beach, but its only 5 minutes away, so that's not an issue. the dude runs the place is laid back and cool. bad point: our bed was terrible. we felt every spring when moving.

We reserved a room for a night. We were sure that will find better one (cheaper and better) The location is good, this area is the best in Koh Chang everything is close still quiet and the prices are still ok. Not a warm welcome, nothing special, the bed was uncomfy, chairs on the balcony uncomfy. Everything is old, used.No chance to eat in, or maybe he forgot to inform us....The wifi not worked in our room only outside.Noisy geccos :)

th first room i had to ask to change as the door had large holes or gaps where any bugs can get in. the owner lady asked no questions and changed it for me straight away. but for value for money it wasn't, i found another place just down the road with a pool, much better room and bathroom for only 5quid more. there was free wifi, but it we virtually non existence in the rooms.

Nice staff - strange boss”
The staff was nice and friendly but the Russian boss - who met us when we arrived - had no smile or nice attitude. When we got up in the morning we could se a lot of elephants from the neighboring camp having their morning shower which was a great surprice and fun to watch.
