Sansuikan Kawayu Matsuya is situated just a 2-minute walk away from Kawayu Onsen bus stop. The public hot-spring bath on site is made from Hinoki cypress wood and features free flowing natural spring water. Private parking and luggage storage are available on site free of charge. There is a lounge equipped with vending machines for drinks, alcoholic beverages and instant noodles. Coin-operated laundry machines are also available for guests' convenience. Air-conditioned rooms comes with a TV, electric kettle, green tea set and private toilet. Bathroom facilities are shared at this property. Free toiletries including a toothbrush set are provided. Yukata robes are available. Sansuikan Kawayu Matsuya is located a 10-minute car ride away from Kumano Kodo Hongu Taisha Shrine, a part of UNESCO World Heritage site Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range. A grocery store is situated a 5-minute car ride from this property. Buffet breakfast and dinner are offered at adjacent sister property Midoriya.

Value considering the limited options in the area.”
I walked the Komono Kodo and finished in Hongu, so planned on staying the evening there. There is very little accommodation in Hongu itself with most options being onsens on the outer areas of the town. I arrived in town late in the day and had missed the last bus and there seemed to be no taxis in the area, so I walked the last 3.5km to the onsen which was pleasurable enough. This onsen is the 'sister' to the more fancy one next door, and you can use their indoor onsens or their outdoor mixed gender onsen also, as well as the restaurant (this place does not have their own food on site, you would need to pre book next door). The accommodation itself is dated but enough for one night and very cheap. Keep in mind there is only one other food option in down open 5:30-7:30 at night, so pre book with the hotel or make sure you go in this time period.

Great onsen and staffs! Room is smoky and can’t breath the whole night. Think twice if you are non smokers. Special thanks to their great help for sending our passport to Kansai airport which was left in the room.

This hotel is very tired looking and the rooms functional but tiny. The Hotel Onsen was clean and quiet. The Hotel closes between 10-15pm. Breakfast is served in the better brother up the road and your can use their outdoor Onsen. I would choose another hotel.

Stay in main annex instead ”
Cheap considering inclusive of breakfast, dinner and onsen in main annex. However, very poorly maintained building. Doors and walls had holes, there were insects on walls and carpet was stained. Will stay in the main annex when I revisit. Staff provided excellent service with complimentary shuttle to Yunomine Onsen.

Location a little bit out of the way. Comfy beds. Nice yukata and haori for the onsen (with big sizes). Onsen were pretty average. Nice view over the river.

no facilities at all in this hotel. There is a small onsen in the hotel. Breakfast is served at a nearby hotel. Hotel accepts cash only which is inconvenient. For this kind of price, I could have got a hotel with better facilities.

Positives; comfy bed, access to nearby onsen in nextdoor Hotel, nice view Negatives; extremely front of house staff, quite unfriendly & unhelpful (potentially other staff members kind!), made us pay for two rooms instead of one x double! No card machine so forced to walk down the road in the dark at night to get cash from another hotel.

There are 3 hotels under the same company next to each other. The largest one has the restaurant, a shop, and the larger bath (onsen) including 2 outside by the river. I stayed at the one at the end, about 100 meters from the larger one. I could use the facilities there. My room was basic business hotel, but had a nice river view. The setting is beautiful. But there aren't any shops to buy food. Just what is in vending machines or the hotel shop. It's well served by buses if you are there to walk.

The onsen is perfect, my first experience having onsen near a river. It's really the best part of this booking. The room is very small. The buffet breakfast and dinner offer little choice. But still, I would recommend this hotel because of their onsen

Basic twin room with tv, kettle, towels, toothbrush and razor. Professional and kind staff. We could use the onsen of the main building which has outdoor onsen just by the river. The best time is at night or in the early morning.

Perfect for Solo Travel and Short Stay in Kawayu Onsen”
The location is near bus stop, less than 5min walk. The hotel enjoys the shared facilities with the sister hotel next door, the Kawayu Midoriya, and the same buffet breakfast, which makes it a great value I think.

Man kann in dieses Hotel kommen. Zum Schlafen reicht es aus und es hat sonst eine gute Lage. Das Partnerhotel, welches das Onsen anbietet und den Großteil des Erfahrung ausmacht ist wirklich gut und man fühlte sich wie ein echter Gast. Gute Bewertung nur wegen des Partnerhotels.

Für den Preis ist die Unterkunft in Ordnung. Die Mitbenutzung des Onsen im Nachbarhotel war sehr schön. Im Aussenbereich gab es Onsen gemischt (Verhüllungspflicht). Die Zimmer waren schon alt und könnten erneuert werden.
