"とても良い" translates to "very good" in English.”

I stayed here for mountain climbing. I decided to stay here based on the reputation of an acquaintance who had stayed here before and reviews I read online, and it was really great. The room was small, but it had a tokonoma (alcove) and a next room. The toilet, sink, and bathroom were also spacious. All three baths in the building had their own unique charm and were great for the skin. The dinner was a creative Japanese cuisine centered around local ingredients such as meat and fish, served in beautiful dishes. The matsutake mushroom soup was especially delicious. The breakfast was also a rich buffet with a variety of options, and I couldn't even make it to the bread section. The congee and local pickles were delicious. The staff were all very kind and answered my questions with a smile. The Japanese garden and the waterfall visible from the bath were also lovely. Not only does this place have a 70-year tradition, but it is also reasonably priced, clean, and friendly. I also recommend the amazake (sweet sake) sherbet that I bought at the souvenir shop on my way out. I have become one of those people who want to come back here in different seasons.

Exceptional”

Friendly staff, great service, nice atmosphere, spacious rooms in a stylish Japanese style. Mostly Japanese tourists. Food is delicious with many options for breakfast. The village is quiet. If you want to take the hotel's shuttle bus, you need to reserve it one day in advance. The hotel also provides a pick-up service from Fukushima station, which is convenient.

Excellent experience!”

My partner and I booked this hotel for two nights across her birthday and it absolutely exceeded expectations. There are a few staff that immediately come out of the hotel to greet you when you arrive and assist you with your car and luggage. You essentially have a dedicated staff member assisting you throughout the entirety of your stay. The dinners and breakfasts were incredible and so tasty, with your own room for the degustation dinner which we weren’t even expecting! The hot springs are also incredibly comfortable, with a roster between men and women for two of them, and then a dedicated male and female one on the ground floor. Highly recommend the 3rd floor onsen with a view of the waterfall at nighttime! The room we booked had a private onsen which was spectacular and had a beautiful ambience and view of the valley. The staff were extremely kind, professional and hospitable. They even went out of their way to move around a massage booking for us when they noticed dinner was running a little late (we didn’t even realise!) We would absolutely book again in future and would highly recommend.

Amazing place to stay”

Sansuiso is a great ryokan in Tsuchiyu, Fukushima City. Although the somewhat remote location makes having a car the preferred access method, there are shuttle buses, buses and taxis that can be used as well. The onsen are beautiful, large and numerous in style! If it's your first time in an onsen, try getting a private bath your first time and looking up how to do onsen, then definitely try out the big baths, they're so nice. The breakfast buffet had plenty of options and unless you're the pickiest eater ever, you'll surely have something to eat. We didn't have dinner since neither myself or my mother like kaiseki food much. Our room had a wonderful view out over the garden and the fall foliage was on great display. All of the facilities felt well-kept and clean and there were multiple english-speaking staff working so when I had to leave to go somewhere I felt confident my mother could be helped even when I wasn't at the hotel with her. The town is very small and the closest convenience store is about a 7-10 minute drive down the road, so make sure to stock up on snacks before getting on a city bus or hotel shuttle bus if you think you'll need them or other necessities.

Bloody nice hotel”

This hotel is definitely a resort in every sense. Full relaxation mode can be enabled here. There's a bar with free lemonade and coffee, there are three (or four, technically) bath houses you can use to your heart's content, and the breakfast buffet was just lovely. The hotel has been built out over time, and it now consists of several buildings connected to one another via hallways. While signage is pretty good, it might be a little confusing to people without a good sense of direction. To me personally, the confusing bit was redundant information. I was given a sheet of paper with typical hotel information, but the same information was already laid out on the table in my room. And the same information is also available on signs in the lobby and the lifts. Better too much than too little, ey. But seriously, this hotel is going to be worth every yen. I've been anticipating staying here since before covid, and it still managed to go beyond my expectations. If I have to name one thing they should really improve: the airconditioning. You can't turn it off. When I'm not in the room for a whole day, it'll keep going which is a right waste of power. But I also couldn't turn it up when I needed some extra cooling off.
