Excellent”
It was our first time in Singapore and we were both amazed on how near it was by the train station. The location was ideal because it is beside a hawker location and a very busy food street which means we never got hungry. We were a bit surprised that the the lobby was all red. And a bit surprised that the hotel used to be a cinemahall or entertainment center. Great service as well. Just that the room was really small, just good enough for travelling and for travelers who would rather go around the city instead of staying in the room.

Great location. Average hotel.”
Located in the heart of Chinatown, the Santa Grand Hotel Lai Chun Yuen is right in the thick of things Singaporean. Adjacent to the section of Smith Street that has been converted into the covered Food Street, if you like to eat you are in for a treat! It's also very near the Sri Mariamman Temple and not far from the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. As for the hotel, its dominant red-everything theme makes the interior look like something out of a 1970's low budget kung-fu movie. The first room we were shown was very worn, stained and had a heavy musty smell. We had to move. The staff was very friendly and accommodated our request to move without any trouble. If you're not picky and you value location over modernity, this branch of the Santa Grand Hotel might be a good fit.

Not for a big person!”
The location is the best part of it. The hotel itself was the Chinese opera theater. The very worse thing is that the toilet in the room is so poky. You can't even sit and let your knee and foot to the front. However, the rest is quite good. Next time I'll stay here ,but larger room.

One night in Chinatown”
Location is great just along Chinatown food street. Do not get superior room with balcony because it is very noisy until wee hour in morning. Room is very small but that is least concern. Worst is the musty smell and the bathroom water does not drain well. Water basin appears in bad shape( broken and glued back with sealant). Staffs are ok. Will not stay again

Boutique hotel in Chinatown”
If you are looking for a quirky boutique hotel then this former opera house bedecked in plush red décor fits the bill. The rooms are small and I mean small but for a few nights sleep it is excellent value.

Very nice hotel”
This hotel has a perfect location in the middle of Chinatown. 5 minutes walk from exit A of Chinatown MRT. Dining complex all around hotel, back front both side, it is just perfect for holiday. Those who need Halal food can cross the chinatown bridge to people's park complex and find Nasi Lemak or Waroeng Padang food stall. Staff very helpfull and polite, they still gave me room eventhough it was earlier than their check in time. Surely will comeback
