Very nice hotel and good breakfast ”
full-scale hotel within walking distance of Atocha station”
This is a 4-star property that covers all the basics well. The hotel is close to Atocha station, so access to public transportation is convenient. Some buses even have a pick-up point at a stop that is 10 meters away from the hotel's main entrance! If you are not traveling with much luggage, you may even walk to the hotel from Atocha station. Our standard room was very comfortable and spacious. We had different types of pillows from which to choose. We had a refrigerator mini-bar. The large closet had a safety-deposit box. We enjoyed the flat-screen TV with international numerous international channels. All staff members with whom we interacted were absolutely courteous and professional. Other hotels are a bit closer to the most important tourist attractions, but this hotel is still a solid alternative with its competitive pricing. We'll certainly consider it in the future!
Close to train station”
The hotel is clean, close to train station. The hotel staffs were attentive and friendly. The hotel also provided sufficient toilet utilities. However it can be really noisy in the middle of night, where you can clearly listen to people talking downstairs and the sounds from cars on the road. My parents couldn't fall asleep because of that
Group stay in Hotel Agumar”
Our stay in the hotel was very relaxing and was a lovely break. We stayed for three nights and found the hotel very convenient for exploring Madrid. The staff were unfailingly courteous and helpful. I would recommend Hotel Agumar for a stay in Madrid. The rooms are clean and spacious with very comfortable beds and if we are back in Madrid would stay there again. The only niggle was that bar prices were a bit high
Excellent hotel in Europe”
Excellent hotel which one I never had, specially, there in European countries. All of people on that hotel...was so nice and gentle. And even, they are usually kind aginst all of their guest, even simple visitors.
Very good location.”
Main attraction is its location - walking distance to main tourist sites and just a few metro stops away from others. Friendly and informative reception staff. Appears to have been recently refurbished. Room small but quite nice - bed a bit 'firm',perhaps. Buffet breakfast has much to choose from. Coffee, however, was almost undrinkable (expresso machine does not come into service before 10.00 a.m.) Would stay there again.
Good value for money - Would recommend”
The Agumar Hotel was a very good choice and excellent value for my money. I would likely come back. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The common facilities and rooms are very clean and nice, although my room was a bit small and might benefit from furniture refresh, it was just fine for me. The hotel is located within 2 few blocks of the Atocha train station with easy access to the extensive and efficient Madrid subway system. Although the hotel does not have a gym, it is within a block of the Retiro park, and ideal place and beautiful for jogging. Some good restaurants near by, including a vegetarian one, but the area is primarily residential. You will find more choices around the Atocha area a few blocks away.
a bit old, the lift is too old......breakfast is good
Near the Atocha train station”
If you are near the Atocha Train Station, you are near to everything worth seeing (and buying).
Very high quality hotel for this price”
If the room have a hot water kettle, it will be best for guest from Asia.
Nice hotel, good location close to train station and several museums
Nice hotel a place to go back soon.
Good hotel with very bad customer handling”
Stayed with this hotel for 2 nights with my family with 2 young kids. I requested for a kettle to warm water and 2 spoons. The house keeping staff directed me to reception. The reception staff directed to restaurant and the Restaurant guy said he is too busy with other customers [since they are earning money from the restaurant customers]. After waiting for some time, he gave me hot water in a mug and for spoon I was asked to come after sometime. When I went again after 10 minutes, he made me wait for another 10 minutes just to handover 2 spoons. It is completely unacceptable as a family with kids would have certain needs and you have to provide these basic needs. May be a good hotel for solo travelers but definitely a No No for family.
This was my first trip to Spain. When I checked in at this hotel, I was greeted rather stoically. So being ignorant about a lot of things in country, I thought that maybe this was a cultural thing... do Spanish men not smile and greet other men? I don't think I got a smile from any of them, I may have gotten a buenos dias from one of them, but I think he was on auto-mode.
decent hotel, courteous staff, great food”
the hotel is quite decent, not new though. the location is great, with bus lines passing on the road. breakfast is superb, with plenty of choices and dekicious food. it is walking distance from the train station and metro also
Clean servicable hotel”
The room was a decent size and the bathroom quite spacious. Everything worked and was clean. The staff were OK did their job but didn't go out of their way with any extra help. It was a comfortable walk with luggage from the subway and railway stations so I used these to get to and from the airport. It was also quite close to a number of the major attractions - the park and museums and not too far to walk to the Palace and the main shopping areas. The is not much in the immediate vicinity for meals so I went to the station for breakfast - a cheap alternative when breakfast is not included.
5-10 mins walk from the train station. Good selections for breakfast, even wines are available. Had to pay for the wi-fi (6 euros until midday next day), and disappointing that only 1 device can use the wi-fi at a time!
Our stay at the Hotel Agumar was so so. The staff was not very friendly. They didn't seem to have time to tell us what to do. The door man who opened the door was more friendly then the staff! I am not sure I would stay there again because of the unfriendlyness of the staff.
Efficient but no-frills hotel”
we stayed twice at the agumar - a 4-night stay, and then one night before our flight home. the first 4 nights we had a very clean room (620) with parquet floors and two twin beds that had been pushed together to make a "double". the beds tended to move around a bit, as they slid easily on the parquet. but the parquet was nice and clean, bath was clean and somewhat updated, and the a/c worked great! the hotel was ~5 min walk to the atocha renfe metro stop and ~10 min to the train station. the aeropuerto express bus to/from the airport stops at the train station and only cost 5 euro. based on the cleanliness and convenience of the hotel, we booked the agumar again for our last night, but the room we got on our last night (305) was on a different floor and different side of the hotel. it smelled noticeably smoky in the hallway - not as strong in the room and air got better once we turned on the a/c. the room had cheap carpet, so didn't seem as clean and bright as our first room. i had requested a double, but the twin beds this time were separated by a nightstand. fortunately we were only there one night. the breakfast buffet was quite excellent - nice spread of hams, chorizo, and cheeses; hot items including fried eggs, bacon, potatoes, tortillas; breads, pastries, fruit, yogurts and cereals; juices, water, and coffee. wi-fi also worked pretty well although it's 6 euro/24 hr period and can only be used on one device at a time. hotel staff were also efficient although not very friendly. overall, a decent, efficient, no frills stay.
Nice hotel close to transport.”
hotel agumar was booked last minute for a cheap weekwnd break to madrid. partly to see the sights but mainly to go and see elbow perform. we checked in just on two. i had asked when i booked for a non smoking room and a large bed as we were travelling as a couple. going up to the room we got a twin bed in a slight sad and dated room. it said the hotel has been updated, the bathroom was lovely, good shower and plenty of hot water. breakfast wasn't included, 15 euros each for breakfast each day was more than i was willing to pay and we got a bag of croisants to eat from the local shop and some fruit. that fed up for two mornings for less than the price of breakfast for one! it's a nice hotel, well located with pleasant staff. the outside it's all that much to look at and i can't believe they were that full they didn't have one room with a large bed in it!
