Value for money.”
Excellent customer service. Manager Otto from reception was a champion, so helpful. The staff, from reception, restaurant, gaming and house keeping were all friendly. Van pick up from Mukdahan to the resort. Return to Mukdahan after check out, excellent service. The room was big, air con very cold, comfortable bed. Very good buffet breakfast. Food and drink prices are cheap in the restaurant close to the front doors. The gaming floor, plenty of the usual games, cheap tables to your high rollers. Cons: The shower was narrow because of the shower screen, water super hot and fluctuated a little, so it was too hot at times. Can't take outside food or drink into the hotel. There's a mini mart near reception but only sells little cans of beer Lao but are reasonably priced at 40thb. The resort is out of town but the are taxis available to get around. Otto, the manager at reception spoke very good English and was a star organizing a few things for me.
This hotel is for casino players.”
This hotel is cheap, and the room is very good, with good internet, and good facilities in the room, the breakfast is good. But the hotel is for people who come to Savannakhet for play at the Casino at the hotel. If you only want to sleep in a nice and cheap room, this hotel is good, but if yopu want to relax at the hotel area this hotel is not the hotel you should stay in. The hotel consist of the rooms and the casino, and spa, nothing else, but if you are coming to Laos for playing casino this is the perfect location for you.
Fun at the casino plus a nice room”
I went to the casino 3 days, and stayed in the hotel one night. The casino uses Baht and can change money for you at the cashier or at the bank that is inside. There are 2 Lao Bank ATMs inside, but neither would take my USA cards or my Bangkok bank card. Blackjack has 200 or 300 minimum tables. There is a 25 (or more ) baht side bet that you will get a pair with your first 2 cards. If they are suited it pays 30 to 1. Same color pays 10 to one, other pairs pay 5 to 1. I also played Caribbean Poker. Four tables with either 200 or 300 baht minimum. THe last day I was there a guy at the next table got a straight flush and won 87,000 baht on a 25 baht side bet. The drink ladies don't seem to walk around, we had to summon them. Sometimes a cart of free food (noodles) came around. THey had some gorgeous ladies walking around with baskets with cans of beer, I don't know if they were free or not. THere are lots of Baccarat tables, Tiger/Dragon too. Lots of slots and some Roulette, even Sic Bo machines. THere is a stand selling milkshakes, and a dessert place with cakes and ice-cream (2 big scoops only 33 baht). THere is a pizza place that has good pizzas in 3 sizes. They also have rice dishes. THere is a bar in the center. THe big restaurant has buffets 3 times a day. I only had the breakfast the day I stayed at the hotel as it was included. They had fried eggs in a pan, toast, coffee, tea, juice, baked beans, sausages, bacon, tofu, noodles, soup, mini donuts. It was pretty good. If you don't like the buffets, the room service menu was nice, and not that expensive. I had Pad Thai with chicken for 120 baht, it was very good. I also had a beef burger with fries for 170 baht. THe American breakfast was 360 but I didn't try it. The hotel check in time is 2 PM but they let me have the room at 12:30. It was a big room with a view of a soccer field, very quiet at night. THey say there is no Wifi in the rooms but I got a signal good enough for email and Facebook. It's free. THere is a
Better than expected”
Before booking, I had read a couple of negative reviews and was somewhat apprehensive. More so for the wife's sake than mine, but I wanted a casino experience and booked anyway. On arrival we were very courteously greeted and offered a soft drink whilst we went through the check in process. The staff were very pleasant and polite and we were soon in our room ( a double non smoking room) The room was spotless and very comfortable with tea and coffee available also free wifi which the bell boy very quickly connected for my wife's use . I learned later that all rooms are under renovation and if the room we stayed in is anything to go by, they are doing a really good job - very pleasant. The casino was a reasonable size offering 150 or so different slots and various table games . The currency used is Thai baht in all machines although a lot of machines showed $. Unlike what I had read before, the whole area was very clean and aside from smoking being allowed was very relaxing. Good fo
Savan is great. The new hotel will be even better with updated facilities. Otto, from the front desk staff was AWESOME!!!! Make sure you ask for Otto, he went WAY out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed.
Dear Christopher Mr., Thank you for you comment and compliment to our staff. I am sure Mr.Otto is waiting to welcoming again and give you the best experience. Thapanan Panjama Front Office Manager
Staff Still Need More Training”
I do Like coming here , but there is a Bit of the "Fawlty Towers" chaos about it. Even a rat on the loose in the resturant. I ordered a Pizza with Pepperoni , only to be told a few minutes later , that wasn't possible , but could have Seafood or BBQ Chicken Pizza instead. No problem, I'll take the chicken one. 5 minutes later (and its 7.30pm) I'm informed the Chef who does the Pizzas has gone Home !. I ordered a cheese and ham sandwich , this meal , along with a Thai noodle dish the next day , took what seemed like forever to be served, way too slow!. When the food did arrive , it was all good, very well presented. The dining room itself is very nice too , however no drinks were ever offered (except water). The male staff in the bar on the casino floor need more training in politeness and efficiency and "You Give Me Tip Yah?" is totally unacceptable to me. Having said that the Slots Girls on the Casino floor are just wonderful , superbly dressed , lovely smiles , their charm makes a visit to Savan Vegas worthwhile in itself. Reception staff were good also. Lots of potential here , just somebody to fine tune some of the staff in international standards of service , is all thats needed.
A casino with 'rooms'....”
This hotel is nothing special. There are better in Savannakhet. The only reason you'd stay here is to go to this low-class casino. More like the amusements on Brighton Pier. The hotel is not in the centre of town, and is the most expensive in Savannakhet for some reason. Breakfast was OK, but the normal 'Thai style' of small wet slices of ham, frankfurter sausages and eggs. The strange thing was the buffet was dotted around a large meeting room off the main casino, while you had to walk through a nice dining room to actually eat it in a non-airconditioned canteen. I wouldn't stay here again.
Good value for money in Laos”
Good value in Laos where rooms are more expensive than neighboring countries. You have to cross the whole casino gaming floor from reception to the elevators to the rooms. Breakfast has a decent selection, however is mostly cold. Room service was very slow, mini bar is way over priced, and not all rooms have in room safe. However I have and would stay here again whenever I come to Savannakhet.
Nice design, good value”
Very nice hotel. I was first a bit dubious seeing the price and the room, but this is really was you get for your money, really good value. Big room, nice modern style with nice light effects, clean, close to perfection. On the downside, internet : you get a cable to connect to an internet that is close to useless. Impossible to skype, email, or even msn ! https sites are blocked, same as ports beyond the needed port to surf. Many websites are forbidden, for unknown reasons, disappointing. Most rooms have a view on the casino room itselfs, which can be nice, but can also be a small nuisance. You might be disturbed during the day by a concert or other ambient sounds. At night, everything is quiet enough though, not a big problem. They also have rooms without view on the gaming floor anyway. Food is available all day long, price is a bit expensive, but quality is ok. Breakfast could be better..just water (not even cold) and coffee, no much different food available. You get a very average american breakfast, but pastry is good.
Not Family Friendly”
The trip to the hotel was for a visa run. I brought my family with me as we try to travel together whenever possible. There are some issues that we experienced. The wi-fi internet was very weak throughout the hotel. I took my Ipad with me so I didn't have to lug around a laptop and could not get a reliable signal anywhere in the hotel. They did have hardwire in the room. The play area for the kids was very sparce. The swings and slides were outside in an open area and appeared to be old. The playroom looked like a detention center at a school. There are no activities for the children. There is not mall in the area to take the family so you would be basically depending on the hotel. Everything is in the hotel is situated that you have to pass through the casino area. With small children, that was somewhat difficult. The casino is very typical of the casino atmosphere. Smokey, dark, and security everywhere. This place is great for an individual or a couple without children. That way you could do more and see more. The hotel food was great. I recommend that you order from the menu. The buffets are limited and I seemed to enjoy the menu better. Overall, I recommend this hotel for a couple or individual.
friendly and helpful staff”
Stayed in hotel for three nites and found the room quality and maid service and attitude vto be excellent. Contrary to some previous reviews, found breakfast to be good and not crowded. Mainly a few staff eating before work. Reasonable price and good food in main resturant. Swimming pool under renovation, so not much to do but gamble, as hotel is far from town. Would stay again.
OK, nothing great, nothing bad, mediocre.”
Stayed 2 nights and was okay, probably better than other hotels in Savannakhet. Buffet breakfast was edible but not enjoyable, staff were very accommodating and friendly, casino is cheap so can play to pass the time easily. Biggest problem was there was no WIFI in the rooms as advertised. Beds were comfortable. Would stay again.
just okay, nothing spectacular”
I stayed at this hotel for one reason only - my girlfriend used to work there and I wanted here to have the ability to stay there. I am not a gambler and neither is she, so we did not do any gambling. We walked around and enjoyed the room. I also wanted to stay here because I have only been staying in very inexpensive hotels in SEA and the hard beds were killing my back. I wanted a soft bed and thought paying more would get me that, but it did not. This hotel was ok and worth the discount I got.
Comfortable 1 night stop”
Easy check in with Agoda voucher. Stayed in Double Deluxe room. King size bed was comfortable. Room and linen clean. Typical of Casino's, the food and drinks were overpriced. A small cafe in the main gambling hall offered the best deal for food, but even here a small can of Coke was the silly price of 55 baht. The property is 10mins outside of town, so it's a 100 baht per person tuk-tuk ride to town, each way. Breakfast selection for Thai & Lao tastes was extensive. Poor selection for Western tastes. Nothing to do except gamble, but it is a Casino hotel after all, so no problem. Hotel pool has been permanently covered over long ago. Big bonus is everything is in Thai baht, so no need to change money when visiting from Thailand. A very comfortable 1 night stopover, but the property does seem a bit overpriced for Lao. Staff were pleasant, but many looked totally bored. I would stay again, as the accommodation was fine, and there were enough TV channels to amuse us.
Great place to stay as long as you don’t gamble”
The team really look after you the moment you join their bus in thailand. They take you through customs and immigration before you arrive at the resort
Best beds and bedding in Asia. Very clean. ”
Loved the salmon, chef salad has steak chicken and ham dressings didn't appeal to me. Best deal in the restaurant was blt at 100 baht, great with fries and coleslaw sometimes. Real French onion soup didn't always get the toast with it but language barriers were the worst part of this hotel. Massage must be booked in advance and only older women worked there. Cashing out on slots old be a pain as they come and write it down and give you it from a cashier table. Also some staff are pushy about tips. Cafe had great cakes and other food items. I shall be missing their fine dining for quite some time. The surrounding town is rather dead so the casino is very lively. Also free shuttle bus thru customs Lao and Thai and drop off at bus station. You can arrange a pickup from several pages off their website. Bus is 50 baht every hour if you don't stay here and it's an hour wait ti get on in the Lao side. So much easier with this hotel, fast and quick.
We enjoyed our stay at this resort. The room was very nice and quit large. The location was very good since it was near shopping and it has a casino. The staff kept the place very clean and the service was excellent.
Looks like a piece of vegas out in the Lao jungle”
Nice hotel for a very good price, liked the VIP trwatment we recieved from the time we arrived at the friendship bridge in Mukdahan until we arrived at the hotel. Very helpful wuth every Visa enquiry and mede sure that we came safely thru customs and immigration. After tht we arrived to a good hotel at the Lao side much more grand than expected.. So for every Visa runners this is a absolute must instead of the bustling borders of Cambodia
This hotel was a delight to stay in, the staff where helpful and there’s a shopping not far from the hotel. But you need to book a local taxi to take you to and from the hotel. It’s not too expensive at all. The staff will book the taxi for you so there is no problem and the shopping area has a taxi point. The rooms are very clean and well laid out, no problems with A/C or Noise. I have stayed here few times and have enjoyed the hotel very much.
Thank you very much David. Hope to see you in the nearly future!. Sorry for lately reply :)
If you like to gamble it's a happening place”
It was a nice room, problems with no Internet or slow, but Lao tends to be like that everywhere. Great food. Only problem was staff spoke little to no English, I don't speak Lao and just basic Thai. Best to go down place order and have them bring up as the hung up and transferred me with out listening. One guy at desk spoke English he would hang up or transfer so that was annoying as I'm not well and was there to gamble do a visa run and relax. Non casino side rooms have white curtains that don't really block the light well, and 2012 was thumping from karaoke until six. They also have a glass window looking into the bathroom which has a tub, they put shutters over it on the room side. Should black it out, rather creepy.
