Location in the middle of the Khao San area.
            Very small room.

The Sawasdee Smile Inn is a good choice for a budget hotel -- clean rooms for a low price. The amenities are very basic and simple, and the staff is O.K., too. The chief advantage of the hotel is its location -- it sits right in the heart of the Khao San area and is thus very convenient for those who wish to explore this area. It is also close to the Khao San ferry pier, from which you can take a public ferry up the Chao Praya river to any destination.

superior room in your dreams - location good”

Location is good, bur rooms are very little

We were at Sawasdee Khaosan hotel and we've decided to save a bit money to try the Sawasdee Smile hotel. From standard room in the first one, we should have a superior room in the new one fo 30% less in money. In fact, the superior room at Smile inn was more little than the standard one in khaosan inn. At Sawasdee hotel, many times we had to restart the connection to have something working. You have only 4 seats available for Free in the lobby, the rest is the restaurant where you have to buy something to drink or eat to enjoy your "Free" wireless connection. To finish, I can tell you that the staff is not the best you can expect. Never Smile !!! For a Sawasdee Smile inn, you can expect for Smiles than others place. When you ask something at the reception, you feel everytime that you bother them. So please, If you don't like your job, do an other and don't bother travelers who want a better remind of their stay in your country than bad face at the reception. For the good points of this hotel... The location, that's all.

location is great, and very cheap
            shared bathrooms

the hotel is just right near the Khaosan Road, which is the center of action, many hotels, restaurants and bazaars there, and many foreigners around. Hotel is more of like a hostel, but staff is warm, helpful, rooms are small, many rooms has shared bathrooms, but if you are just looking for a bed with a cheap value this is the right place.

Cheap but very basic hotel in a prime location”

Great location (next to Khao San Road) and inexpensive.
Very basic, no towel or toilet paper supplied

On the plus side the location is excellent, just off Khao San Road and easy to find with a big sign outside the hotel. Though my room was opposite a bar that was playing loud music until late, but I had no problem sleeping through it. I've not got a problem with this hotel as such, but I think next time I'd try somewhere else, maybe spend a bit more and hope to get something a bit plusher. I certainly would not like to take a young lady to stay there but for someone just wanting a bed for the night it's fine. I had breakfast there a couple of times (when staying at the Sawasdee Krungthep Inn round the corner) and it was reasonable enough; Bacon, 2 Eggs + 2 Toast and Tea / Coffee (or some alternatives I didn't try). TIP: Take a padlock with you (or two) there's rings outside the door so you can use your own padlock for better security and the free lock boxes by reception also require a padlock to be provided by the guest.

friendly but small and not so clean”

            friendly and helpful staff
rooms not so clean andsuperior room was small

this hotel was pretty easy to find and as part of the group of sawasdee hotels, people knew where it was. its not too close to khaosan road to be too noisy but close enough to walk with a toddler. the staff were very helpful and friendly and the food was nice and not too overpriced.

            Cheap and good location”

Location is probably the only pro

You get what you pay for. That said, Sawasdee Smile Inn is just a place to lay your head and leave hopefully without any serious mosquito bites. I'm not saying that all rooms have a lot of mosquitos but my room did. I'm not a picky guy when it comes to rooms either and as I said it's a good place to just lay your head and rest after a fun night near Khao San road which is just not too far away.

            Location

All in all a reasonably priced, clean, friendly hotel. The breakfast that is included is good. Just off the Ko san Road. The room was very clean and the staff were extreemly helpfull. There is a tour office in the hotel to assist in booking busses and trips etc.

            Sad experience”

            Location, rates
Tacky looking rooms, cardboard walls, ac ineffective in most rooms

We did not have a good experience at the Sawasdee Smile Inn. We had to change rooms thrice! It was very hot and ac was not working... quite a pain to carry all the bags and move to a different room. But since the rates were very low and the location so good, we decided not to complain.

            Good budget guesthouse”

good location, reasonable price, good breakfast

If you are tight on budget this is a good choice. Very close to Khaosan road. Book rooms with breakfast. Breakfast was good. Prices were reasonable. Staff was not that much helpful, but ok. Rooms are small. No table to keep our stuff. Wifi is only in common area, not in rooms.

            Basic is the word”

Brilliant location, and good communal areas

This is a no frills hotel for people who want to be right by the Kaosan road, it's literally 1 minute walk away, the room I stayed in was very basic and small, but clean and shower was hot, The staff at reception were frendly only after i disarmed them by smiling (i got the feeeling guests dont do that very often which is a real shame) The staff in the restaurant/bar were lovely though The communal area is really good open 24 hours and always busy but not too loud, also wifi worked here and in the room.

            Very cheap, good placement
            Week doors

It's my 2-nd time visiting this hotel, before I was in August 2009 I like it For it's money (cheapest price on Agoda both times) it's quite ok It's good situated, not exact on Kao San, a little far from noise of backpackers) Near hotel always are several tuk-tuk's and taxis - to the AirPort - 350 bat - nice Always switched Football chanel in the lobby - nice also So, it's quite ok for several nights staying there - price and location are good - and I got All I want from the hotel for it's money)

            Five days in BKK”

Sawadee Smile Inn is in quiet side of Khao San Road, just right to Phra Arthit pier on Chao Praya river. They have many rooms from 200 baht to 500 baht. If you stay more you need to ask for clean room but the staff is gentle and professional.

            Great Value”

Inexpensive, Two blocks walking to Khao San Road
You have to purchase a lock to secure your passport/documents behind front desk counter, not too sure about how secure the system is but is better than just keeping it in the room

The cab driver found the place after first stopping at another hotel with similar name close by. Bring a map. I was happy to have a room, a bed, a shower, a toilet, sink, and a fan. I paid $9 a night, which is fantastic if you just need a safe place to rest. The room even had a TV and 24 hour food service menu. It did not seem very romantic but it can be if you believe it is. Lots of food choices nearby, especially on Khao San Road. I didn't eat at the hotel restaurant but I am sure it would be fine as I love Thai food and I love good economical prices. You can bring a padlock to put on your door when you are out. Best not to carry much valuables or have insurance as the risk is on the guest.

It is okay for staying there. Probably the most quiet hotel in Khaosan.
