I visited Phu Quoc Island with 3 of my girlfriends and we had the most magical time at Sea Sense resort. we rented two of the beach front villas and their location was breathtaking. you can see the sea from your four poster bed and watch the sunset from your balcony. The Hotel is quite far from the main town so we spent most of our time in the resort and ate lunch there everyday. The food we had was fantastic! We stuck to the vietnamese options and they were all sensational, i especially recommend the bun thit nuong. we also made the most of the 3 hour happy hour from 2-5 everyday and the cocktails were all great, definitely some of the best i've had in vietnam! you can get a taxi to the nightmarket for around 120,000 vnd (about £3.50), it's definitely worth the trip, loads of amazingly fresh sea food for super cheap prices. the staff at sea sense were attentive and friendly throughout our stay, organising taxis and making us feel like part of the sea sense family!
Great Island Getaway”
We spent 4 days in a beachfront bungalow at Sea Sense and had a great time. The bungalow itself was comfortable and clean, with a nice shower and comfortable bed. You can't beat waking up to the view of the sea every morning. The main beach area was very nice. I was a bit worried after seeing other reviews that mentioned trash on the beaches, but we didn't experience this. One day after a particularly windy + rainy storm, a bit of trash washed up but was quickly cleaned up. Other than that, clean sand and warm water. If the ocean isn't your thing, the pool was absolutely excellent. The complimentary breakfast was very good, and varied each day which was appreciated. We only ate one meal at the restaurant as it was fairly expensive, but the food was good (in terms of food, and seafood in particular, there is MUCH better value to be found outside of the resort). The staff was great as well, kind and helpful at every turn. Pretty much everyone we interacted with spoke great English. We were super sad when it was time to leave Phu Quoc and Sea Sense!
Beautiful new resort.”
Fist time in Sea sense resort. The best resort so far from all I tried. Beautiful place surrounded by forest. Lovely private beach with nice and good size pool. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in 3 diferent restaurant. Nice ocean view from your room or restaurant. Choice of food is really good and all taste delicious. Be prepared to pay a bit extra for food or drinks you but there but is really worth. I tried many restaurants around Phu Quoc or in other resorts but none can get close to Sea Sence resort. There is also gym and kayaks on beach for you to enjoy as we did. Only one bad point is that resort is located a bit far from Main Street but there are bicycles available for free or you can rent a scooter. There was also free transport from resort to the airport. My experience very satisfied. I can only recomend this resort. It's beautiful.
Lovely staff and excellent location ”
My friends and I had a peaceful time at Sea Sense Resort. The setting and all the inclusions (including pay services such as spa treatments) were fabulous. The off season, June to October, is rainy in the tropics; that should not be a deterrent for travelers pondering a visit to Phu Quoc. There was plenty of sunshine and the few rain storms were magnificent. I recommend Sea Sense Resort highly.
We stayed at this hotel for 2 days of rest and relaxation after a busy Mekong Delta tour. The hotel is a nice size located on a beautiful beach on Phu Quoc Island. The breakfast restaurant was overlooking the ocean - a great location and the food was good. The staff were all very pleasant. Our room was spacious, comfortable and the bathroom was nice. However the bathroom lighting , as in most hotels we stayed at in Vietnam was insufficient. In North America we are accustomed to lighting over the vanity. The door to our room did not lock as a screw fell out. We asked to have it fixed but it was not done properly. Finally we gave up and made sure our valuables were secure in the safe and did not believe that anyone would enter. It needs to be fixed properly. We borrowed pedal bikes from the hotel. It took us quite some time to find four that work. Probably nobody uses them but it was a feature offered by the hotel. When we took off up the hill the chain on mine would not stay in place as the metal around it was twisted. So I basically could not ride it. It should be destined for the scrap heap. The other bikes just need some maintenance and TLC which could be done by staff who seemed to have ample time on their hands. We rented motor bikes higher up the road and picked up the bikes on the way back. While it was comical watching people try to climb onto the swim platform that was missing the top step this also could be repaired. Overall we had a lovely time and found a great restaurant in the village for dinner. We would return to this hotel if we ever come back to Phu Quoc but suggest that a very good hotel could become a great hotel with a little more attention to detail.
Enjoyable stay overall”
It was a very nice stay at Sea Sense as it was our first time to the island. Some of the cons, it was a little bit far from the night markets and city center. As for the room (we stayed in one of the villas) the bath could be seen from the balcony.j As for the beach it was very nice and quiet but it was jellyfish season with many on the beach and in the ocean. Not the resorts fault, but something to be aware of. Some of the pros, while the beach was tainted with jellyfish the infinity pool was a very good substitution. They also had a friendly staff because had a late departure from Phu Quoc and they were very accommodating letting us check out at 4 pm. The staff was also able to help us book a day boat tour, maps of the island, as well as motorbike rentals. Overall I would give it an 8/10 and would consider going back again.
Wonderful feeling at the beach front room”
we had a wonderful stay, the weather was great, very clean resort and lucky that we got a room was spacious and the beach was in front of the room at a price of $125 which was not easy to find on Phu Quoc island for such a beach front price. Friendly staff who needs to improve English which caused sometimes misunderstandings and as a new resort they need to improve some other services. Otherwise, staff was helpful, polite and we enjoyed our holiday very much. we would come back and stay here again for next time.
A very good decision!”
If you want to relax for a few days at a really nicely located place with heaps of palm trees within beautiful tropical nature, with a lovely and clean beach just in front of the house, with two excellent restaurants (one for breakfast, one for dinner) and with a quite big pool — this is it! Lively Duong Dong is just 15 mins. away (by scooter). Rooms were clean, well equipped and comfortable. I just don’t understand why we couldn‘t get 2 rooms directly side by side, although we were booking several weeks in advance. Price level is quite high, but not too high compared to similar places on Phu Quoc. Special thanks to Boboi, the fantastically friendly service guy at pool bar and restaurant!
We spent a week in Phu Quoc for some R&R. Its far from town with little to see or do. We only had breakfast at the resort. We went two resorts down and dined at Mango Bay or went to Mrs. Kiem's a short motorbike ride away. If you call her she will send bikes to bring you there and back for a small fee. Few activities at this resort but it is very new. Perfect island getaway!
Beautiful, but Remote Location”
My review depends on what you want in a resort. If you want a remote location away from all the crowds, towns, restaurants, etc. then Sea Sense is the place for you. It's on the northern part of the island and if you want to go into Duong Dong you must take a taxi each way, which costs about 150,000 dong or $6 dollars. The hotel offers one shuttle into town at 2 PM and one return shuttle at 4 PM. These times are nor conducive to eating lunch or dinner in town and forces you to eat at the resort. The food at the resort is tasty, but nothing great. If you stay, book the Beachside Villa and not the Sea View Villas. They're located up on the hillside and though they have a nice view, you still must walk down to the ocean. The Beachside Villas are right on the ocean and offer great views and access to the beach. The rooms themselves are very comfortable and well air-conditioned. The solar heated hot water is very annoying since it's very hard to adjust the temperature, and even when you're able to do so, the water pressure is so low it's like being under a dripping faucet. The staff works very hard to please you and do a really good job despite the tyrannical management by the owners. The owners are truly difficult and I witnessed them yell at staff when guests are around. Sea Sense would be a Class A resort if the owners cared about pleasing their customers, which they do not. But it's the owners decision not to offer golf cart service except during check in and check out. It's also their decision not to offer transport into town throughout the day. They could partner up with Sakura restaurant, the closest and best restaurant around, but it's really too far to walk. I will agree with others that the bar, though nice, makes the worse drinks. It's not just the cheap alcohol they use, but the nasty mixers. The pina coladas and margaritas are just bland and bitter. If you drink, stick with the Saigon 33 beer. It's the best option on the drink list.
Great for a peaceful and relaxing vacation!”
Wow! My boyfriend and I were very impressed with Sea Sense Resort! We went over the CNY/Tet holiday this February for five nights. We just got back to Shanghai, where we live, and are wishing we were back listening to the waves and watching the sun go down over the ocean from our beach chairs. Every time we left the resort for a day trip, we were so happy once we got back to our quiet, clean beach resort! If you are looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of cities, I would highly recommend this resort. I would not recommend for younger, solo travelers, for the population we were with included mainly couples of all ages and families with young children (but not many). The staff was always extremely helpful and friendly. They booked boat tours, motorbike rentals, and cabs (including airport transfers) with ease. Everywhere we went on the resort we were greeted with a friendly staff member. The actual resort is peaceful and well-kept. You can tell they care about their appearance and reputation. The villas provided privacy and a sense of personal space. We loved spending the day on the resort's private beach, though other travelers also chose to spend time next to the beautiful pool. The free breakfast buffet was stocked with a variety of items, and I could always get my iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk! Breakfast looks over the pool and ocean. Lunch and dinner are served by the ocean/pool area. We were happy with the lunch options, but only ate dinner once on the resort. I would suggest going off to nearby resort Mango Bay for dinner (though prices are a bit more expensive), or a locally owned restaurant not far from the main gate called Sakura (ask the staff). Only downside of the resort is it is not easily walking distance of anything. There is long, winding dirt road that leads to the resorts main gate from the main road. Once inside the main gate, the driveway goes up and then down a very steep hill. I would suggest getting a cab or
Unfortunately we just stayed 2 nights at Sea Sense Resort, but would have loved to stay there much longer. Especially in hindsight and in comparison to the other resort on long beach, where we stayed, we loved everything in this hotel. 1. Location: Yes, it is further North and 8 km away from the city centre and the long beach, but we found that an advantage. The beach was really nice, very clean with crystal water and very private. (The long beach in contrast was very crowded and dirty). We rented a scooter so it was easy to get around. For dinner we went to the near restaurant "Sakura" which was very cheap compared to the hotel. At the hotel restaurant a meal was about 210.000 VND. 2. Rooms: We had a room directly on the beach and it was amazing (room 118 and 104). Very clean, big, with hammock on the balcony overlooking the beach. 3. Staff: Everybody was really friendly and helpful. 4. Breakfast: We stayed in lots of 5 star hotels with great breakfast, but the quality at Sea Sense was amazing. A great mix of Vietnamese and European breakfast, cooked freshly for you by overlooking the whole resort. 5. Pool, beach: very clean, private and enough sun chairs for everybody. We would highly recommend this resort. We loved everything about it.
Words are not enough to describe how good this resort is!!!!”
We stayed at Sea Sense Resort 7 nights and it was one of my best experiences at a resort in my whole life. From the pick-up at the airport (20km away from resort) to check-in with the friendliest staff ever, to arriving in our room with the AC switched on , to dinner at the Sunset Restaurant, with some of the most amazing sunsets I have seen in my life and top notch menu options. The staff at Sea Sense Resort shines friendliness and they ensure all your needs are met and that you have an amazing holiday. The reception staff is friendly and polite and more than willing to meet any request you might have. The restaurant staff at all 3 restaurants on the resort are amazing, friendly and well trained. I can recommend staying at this resort to anyone its only 11km from the beach bars on Long Street and all tours pick you up on the resort. I can not wait to go back. There was nothing I could fault at Sea Sense Resort. It was one of my best holidays so far. Thanks to all the staff!!!!!!
very very Scenic and beautiful”
This is a perfect place to stay if you looking for peaceful getaway from busy life. super clean and extremly spacious room with beautiful beach view . specially like to mention the very friendly staff. Each one of them greet you with a smile always , help you out in every possible way(They picked us from even though we arrived at mid night to Phu Quoc ). Have wide variety of cusine and are yummy.
Perfect resort to get away from it all and relax ”
We found Sea Sense after not having a very good experience on Long Beach and really needed to get away from it all and relax. We found the staff at Sea Sense instantly accomodating and the location remote and perfect for what we were after. We didn’t leave the hotel for 3 days and opted for poolside cocktails and bar snacks. We did dine at the restaurant but found the staff to be a little out of their depth and a couple just needed to relax and smile. The menu needs to be stripped back with simple Vietnamese dishes - a bit to much fusion going on for our liking but that is our only criticism. The spa massages, the buggy sent to drive us around, our room and everything else was perfection. Thanks to all the Sea Sense staff - Chris, Paine and Binkie for making our stay so relaxing. Thank you x
We had a lovely relaxing 4 days here.”
We thought the beach here was the nicest we saw on phu quoc. There is also a lovely pool area. We ate in nearby mango bay restaurant a couple of times and really enjoyed it. You can walk along the beach to get to it.
This is a perfect place for people who want to run away from busy city life for a few days to recharge. The scenery is peaceful and beautiful. My room is very close to the ocean but you would feel like you're in a forest far away looking over the calm sea through the green leaves. My husband and I just got back to Saigon yesterday from Sea Sense. Today, I already got on line to book the same room for our next trip in February. I miss the staff there. Everyone was so genuinely friendly and helpful. The food is excellent! The chef welcomes your constructive feedback. The Sunset Restaurant for dinners at Sea Sense is the best place for you to watch the sunset. I highly recommend this resort for people who love a few days of secluded wonderful life.
Quite a Nice Sea Side Resort ”
Overall my experience stayed in Sea Sense Phu Quoc Resort is good. The staffs are friendly, the food is good, near to the beach and the room is spacious and clean. The private beach have to clean up and tidy up, the rock and stone affected the overall experience of beach walking. The swimming pool is clean and big, and they provide free 4 hours bicycle rent for us to cycling around. The only disappointment is the resort doesn't provide gym center, and the location of the resort is 15-20 minutes driving from the Duong Dong town.
A place is worth your money”
We took a vacation in 5 nights and totally felt comfortable after the trip. There are plenty of hospitality, friendly and careful staff. All of people behave the same criteria making us feel very comfortable like being at home. Plus, delicious breakfast and beautiful landscape are also positve point for Sea Sense. However, negative point is remote location and no seafood/ Asian food at the resto. Spa is not much invested at the range of 4-star resort. A little bit dissatisfaction after experiencing spa service.
Staff is fantastic. Not everyone on Phu Quoc speaks a good level of English, but they try hard. Dinner on the beach is great, although food service is generally a bit slow the food itself is amazing, especially the fresh seafood. The pool area and beach are nice, clean and well maintained. We initially took a room on the hillside but upgraded to the beach-front bungalows once we got there. It's definitely worth the few extra bucks. The hotel is very remote, but that is part of the charm. We rented a scooter for USD 10 per day and went exploring. Hotel provides free pickup and drop-off from/to the airport. Enjoy!
