Good pick for longer stayers- ”
Much the same as any backpacker. The secret garden is the main attraction that sets it apart - cool socialising factor ++. Internet works, and there is a big bank of clothes washers. Clean rooms with high security door locks, big steel lockers in room. Very good. I found it quieter than the heart of the city, so got a good sleep. Around the corner there is 2 hour street parking 8AM to 8PM. I heard a lot of Spanish speakers at this place.
Hostel with lots of fun and in a good location”
Standard Hostel with a huge fun drawcard . But boy, what a big social international party in the Secret open-air Garden on Friday night by all.
Such a nice place to chill”
Thanks to all the staff, there is such a great vibes in this backpack !!! Room are well equipped with personal lockers, plugs !!! What asking else ?
Exceptional”
Best hostel in Sydney .. Great place would definitely recommend !
Book Elsewhere for Same Price or Little More”
I expected better for a 30 dollar hostel in Sydney. Overall, the facilities weren't very clean or well-maintained. My female 8-bed room did not have air conditioning, and the beds creaked every time you moved a centimeter. It was very annoying and disruptive. In each small building of rooms, there was one bathroom, and they weren't nice. There was a big bathroom with showers on the ground floor, but you had to walk through the main areas and by the patio area. It was inconvenient and awkward. The good things were the patio with tables where most people were social and friendly; a kitchen with free breakfast (toast, cereal); and the hostel is a 5 to 10-minute walk from Central Station. Before booking this place, I'd search--there are nicer hostels for a similar price and/or also around Central Station.
Good staff, people were ok, but poor living quality & dirty”
Important: this hostel is extremely not suitable for business trips or people who like a quiet atmosphere. The staff were reasonably friendly and helpful, most of the guests here are from overseas and on their working holiday visas, and to be honest they are pretty cool to get interact with. The hostel is located in an old building with upgraded facilities, toilet was dirty, the sewerage got blocked one night leaving the toilet smell awfully. People enjoyed party in this hostel, it was pretty loud at night, some even had lots of fun in the room. The room was messy, no privacy within beds, no windows were opened during my stay so I felt running out of air all the time while being in it. Breakfast is ok, but kitchen facilities are poor, sometimes people do wash their dishes nice and clean, sometimes they make a mess on the kitchen area. Again, this hostel reflect a lively, open life of a backpacker, so you'd fit in if you're one, otherwise, consider other places enjoy Sydney :)
Nice place to stay”
Good deal, free breakfast in the morning. Place kept itself pretty clean in the common areas, dish ware was accessible, nice people. Only complaint wasn’t towards the hostel but the people, they smoked directly in one of the open common areas and it drifted in. And my roommates were a messsssss. Absolute mess. No floor space.
It’s OK ”
Cheap accommodation close to central station, the hostel itself is pretty run down, bathrooms are pretty gross, and very noisy at night time with all of the traffic.
Was way too expensive for what you get”
Pros: location Cons: not enough toilets & showers. Only had one toilet with a shower otherwise had to go out to the garden and use the bathrooms there. Wifi barely worked. No aircon just noisey fans which made it difficult to sleep at night. The hostel is way overpriced for what you’re getting.
genial”
la primera vez que me alojo en un hostal, y este lugar me sorprendio dado que cumplio y sobrepaso mis expectativas, me volveria a quedar alla y se los recomiendo muchas veces.
Rude and unthoughtful guests”
Don't book the privat room, the window is directly to the 'secred' garden and during nigh the other patrons. Don‘t care about you if you ask to be little bit more quiet.
Acceptable”
Building overall is quite old (I noticed leaking pipes and somewhat unappealing carpet/walls). Only a single bathroom (1 person) indoors while all others are outside near the garden. Rooms are small but do have lockers and plug near bed. Extremely loud and heavy on people who drink/party if you are into that. Wasn't my thing and I moved out early after an altercation with a drunk roommate late at night
The hygiene of the bathroom and the room could have been improved. ”
I stayed in another hostel in Melbourne and i have to say the one in Melbourne is much more convenient and value for money. It is a hotel standard (i.e. hygiene and facilities wise) except that you only get a room. Location wise is much closer to the train station.
Getting better ”
I stayed here before and there were lots of improvements since my last visit. Pros: very friendly people and staff, clear layout, clean, nice social areas, comfy beds Cons: would be nice to have an oven, very hard to get the hobs to work
There’s a reception super super rude! ”
A young girl in reception, she is very rude, sounds like an English, slim one. She is uneducated
It looks way better online”
This place is soooo dirty in person. Also, it's for sure a party hostel, bring earplugs if you actually plan to sleep at all. That being said the staff was all super nice and over all I did enjoy my stay.
Very good”
near the metro station but no good for someone has big luggage. you need to lift it all the way from the metro station till the upstair room.
Terrible never coming back.one bathroom and cockroach.”
There is only one bath room and toilet were together.I found cockroach in my room. Staff are not professional. Out side room was so mess.
Sydney is expensive and you pay for what you get”
Staff was nice, close to central station (train/bus station), not the cleanest (bugs in shower)
cheap and ok for party hostel”
TBH i stayed over a month, its in a good location and its low cost, apart from that i would avoid it The rooms have few fans no ac no curtains and back onto a main road so its loud, hot and light, as far as i know there is about 8 showers/toilets for 130 guests, the kitchen is an joke and the stove tops bairly work, clothes etc that were in boxes were taken from under my bed and putr into the free/ lost box..even tho they had medication ontop that was MARKED with my name etc. management is nice BUT it doesnt need nice people , it needs people to MANAGE everything my food kept going missing from the fridge and on the last day we caught someone on camera- one of the staff members!... the staff member opperating the camera tried to deny he even knew who it was even tho he had been there 2 months, dont get me wrong the hostel has potential but you gotta sort it out!
