    “Fantastic Experience ”

My wife and I stayed one night during our visit to Kyoto. It was by far the best experience we have ever had staying at any sort hotel/Ryokan. The hospitality we received was like nothing we have ever seen before. The staff were so friendly, every single one we interacted with was fantastic. As soon as you enter you are treated like royalty. Our room was so beautiful with a garden view and at night they turned down our room with the most comfortable futon bedding. The bathhouse was so traditional and beautiful and you truly felt transported in time. We will absolutely be back. We truly didn't want to leave and plan to stay much longer next time. This has been the highlight of our trip. My wife and I can't recommend this beautiful ryokan enough!

    “exceptional!”

Beautiful in and out. Very helpful friendly staff, super clean Ryokan. We stayed at one of the Omakase Japanese style room (room type chosen by the hotel). We arrived early at 8am, they able to hold our luggage, straight check in at 3pm. Went back to the hotel around 2:45p, waited about about 15 mins for the room to be ready. Greeted by very friendly staff, changed shoes and walked us to our room. Staff speaks good English, everytime we need to head to somewhere, they assist will calling a taxi and tell the driver where we heading to. Ryokan room very nice, large, with private bathroom and private toilet which is very important for my significant other. Staff came in and offer hot towel, tea, afternoon snacks which is super delicious, we ended up asking where they get it from and bought a few boxes back to the States. Staff came in around 5pm to turn the room into a bedroom by taking out all the tatami to sleep on. We paid for the morning Japanese style breakfast (they also offer Western style breakfast) the Japanese style breakfast was very fresh and beautifully presented. Everything was top notch from arrival to departure. Stayed two nights. Thank you everyone!

    “Wonderful Stay”

We booked the deluxe room for 2 nights with breakfast, and a kaiseki dinner. Room - The size of the room was spacious with separate seating/dining from the bedroom + bathing area. Bedding was comfortable for a good night's rest. Location - we were about 20 mins walking from most of the places we wanted to see. We traveled by bus and by train to get to further sights. I would recommend you take a taxi from the Kyoto station, as it is a little bit of walk from the train exit and the city buses are not so spacious. Service - Our room host was fantastic, greeting us each time we departed/arrived from the ryokan. The food for breakfast and dinner was tasty, good portions. We even got a welcome tea/snack upon our return each day. A 2-night's stay is a good amount of time to enjoy the services and hospitality. The staff were very attentive, helpful, and accommodating to every question and request that we had. It was truly an enjoyable stay and I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a wonderful ryokan experience.

    “The perfect accommodations”

I have never stayed anywhere that treated me as well as Seikoro. From the moment of arrival to the moment of departure, the staff anticipated our needs and schedule and were highly accommodating. I had no idea about the finer points of staying at a ryokan, having never visited Japan before. I felt truly welcomed by the atmosphere of the place and the hospitality of our hosts. The room itself was astounding - beautiful, tranquil, spacious, and eminently comfortable. Our tatami-floored garden view room included a private bath with a wooden tub (though the public bath was wonderful as well). Even the decorations suited the late winter season and enhanced the elegant atmosphere of the room. After each day of walking around Kyoto in the cold and snow, nothing was better than knowing that the room at Seikoro was waiting. As wonderful as the staff and the room were, the food may have been the highest point of the stay. I am not sure I have ever had a better meal in my life than I did at Seikoro. It was beautifully presented and perfectly made. Each course was a revelation to me about the delicacy and range of Kyoto-style food. Watching the snow drift lightly down onto a spray of bright pink plum blossoms in the the garden on our last morning, I know I will often think of Seikoro on February mornings when the west wind blows across the Pacific.

    “Wonderful Experience in Japan!”

We spent 4 nights at Seikoro Ryokan over the New Year holiday. We had wonderful kaiseki New Year meals, baths in the onsen and our comfortable beds arranged each night by the attentive staff. We were greeted each evening and sent off every morning by the lovely team. The ryokan is central - walking distance to the Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangen-do temple. Ask for a room on the garden. The cuisine is traditional Japanese, so very focused on fish/seafood. If you want an authentic experience and a respite from the crowds of Kyoto, you will love Seikoro!
