        Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel, Vientiane”

Staff are the hotel's best feature, from the reception staff to the restaurant servers, everyone was lovely. Free wi-fi is great.
A little far from the city center

My son and I stayed at the Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel for several nights in January, 2010. Located right on the Mekong River, the views are gorgeous. We had a standard room which was very large and clean, as was the bathroom (with plenty of hot water). The beds were comfortable, the TV had great reception, and the in-room frig was handy for keeping drinks and snacks cool. There was a restaurant on the top floor where we enjoyed free buffet breakfasts. The best thing about the hotel, however, was the staff, who were unfailingly polite and very helpful. Free airport pick-up (and drop-off) solved the problem of getting into town, and the free wi-fi was a hit with my teen-age son. The only tiny negative is that the hotel is a bit far from the city center, necessitating a tuk-tuk ride or a 15-minute walk. That would not keep me from staying at the hotel the next time I am in Vientiane, though.

chose hotel online and it turned out to be in the perfect location just across the street from blocks of outdoor dining and BBQ. Also lots of excellent live music nearby and a short walk to the lively night market. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return to the Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel on my next holiday in Vientiane.

the rooftop restaurant/bar, cleanliness & service

seng tawan riverside hotel is a great hotel, very nice rooms great value for money. it is a tiny bit out of town but it is a lovely walk along the river and it is a 10 minute stroll at the most to town centre. the rooftop restaurant puts on a great buffet breakfast but the real winner is to go up for a beer or food right on sunset.

Our room was good, and had a great view of sunrise and sunset, the rooftop restaurant magnificent sunsets, and good food

We had a great time at the Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel, the staff were very helpful, although some did not speak much English, but that is not a problem, I don't speak Lao either. We particularly enjoyed the rooftop restaurant in the evening, with a few beers, good food and fantastic sunsets. Also, it is only a short walk to the center of town and the night market. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We will return.

Quiet, inexpensive, great staff, free internet.
        Breakfast.

The Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel was very nice. The receptionist very friendly and helpful, the view fantastic with Mekhong River. I suggestd it to my family and booked another room and they love it so much. Such a quite and peaceful place. We plan to go back again on Song Karn (Thai New Year). I would recommend it for others to stay when in Laos. The massage downstair was great, but noisy because of tourists. The manager of this massage place should tell the customer to keep their noise down because most people are going to massage and need to relax.

Great location, good views of the Mekhong, close to night market

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel. Located right on the Mekhong River, the rooftop bar is the top spot for a relaxing sunset drink. Right out front was a variety of local food available every night. A short walk to the bustling night markets is definitely worth seeing. Hotel was clean and pleasant. Would stay again. Free airport shuttle was a bonus. Hotel staff also helped me to find a service to organize my visa to Thailand. Plenty of historic temples and sites all within walking distance or a cheap tuk tuk ride away.

        nice hotel”

        large room, free breakfast

Sengtawan Riverside Hotel was a nice place to stay and I highly recommend it. It was very clean and there was a TV, minibar, wifi, and AC in the room. The room and bathroom were large and toiletries were provided. The lobby was also very spacious and the staff was attentive. I was picked up from the airport (complimentary) and they also offered to drop me off at the bus station after my stay (but I had already booked pick up through a travel agent). They have a spa in the basement where I received a lovely massage. They also have a restaurant on the top floor with great views of the Mekong and free breakfast. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk to town. Cons: The room was dark and there was a slight mildew smell. Breakfast was not very good and it was supposed to end at 10:30am but they shut it down at 10am the morning I went. They had computers in the lobby but they never connected to the internet (I tried three times). The laundry service was very expensive (40,000 kip per kilo). http://growninsouthernground.wordpress.com/2012/06/03/sengtawan-riverside-hotel-in-vientiane-laos/

Comfortable bed in a quiet location with river views.
If you want to be in the centre then this is not the hotel for you. We enjoyed the 20 mins walk despite the humid weather.

Our 2 night stay at the Seng Tawan Hotel was comfortable and enjoyable. The outside restaurant has lovely views over the river and is much more pleasant than other hotels further down the river where there is currently work going on to improve the riverside. The hotel is very quiet and we hardly saw another guest. Bikes cn be hired from the friendly staff.

        Staff are VERY helpful

Whenever I visit Laos I stay at the Seng Tawan Hotel. As it happens I often have issues which I need assistance with. The staff at Seng Tawan are always available to help me resolve these problems. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. On this visit I noticed they have now installed shower screens, meaning you dont get wet feet every time you enter the bathroom. I'll be back there in a few months for sure.

unlike other hotels in vientiane, they change bed sheet and pillow covers everyday while i am staying in seng tawan hotel with good view to mekong river. the service is too much better than lao plaza hotel, win hotel, day inn and av hotels in vientiane.if you don't mind for walking 10 to 15 min to city center, please choose seng tawan hotel for your stay.

Quiet, Clean, Restaurant With Great Ambience

The Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel is a well maintained and clean hotel, located on the river in Laos. My room was large and clean, the bathroom was very nice though the room was slightly dated. The restaurant with its open air dining and views of the river is memorable. The hotel is located a little out of the centre of town which makes for a quiet and romantic stay, but you may need to hire a tuk tuk or taxi if you have business or wish to explore the city. There is a nightly market and food options located 5-10 minutes walk away on the same road.

        Situacion, limpieza, trato amable

The hotel is in placed in the front riverside and the guest can enjoy splendid views on the Mekong river and surroundings; just in the opposite side o the river is Thailand. The view is especially fabulous from the top roof restaurant where the buffet breakfast is served. The hotel has large rooms and bath room; everything is very clean. The breakfast was generous and include in the room price. It can summarized as a good hotel with an advantageous quality/price ratio- For the criticism if you need it I can say the distance from hotel to the core center of restaurants and bars zone is over 1 km; it takes me about 20 minutes walking by a quiet and nice river side street. In turn this distance makes very quiet hotel surroundings.

a peaceful place with a great roof terrace”

The roof terrace is a major bonus with this hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff are helpful and very friendly.
the road outside the hotel isn't in the best condition when compared to some of it's neighbours.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. It doesn't have the seedy side of the some of the hotels in Vientiane. The roof top restaurant with it's spectacular view of the mekong, serves excellent beef steaks and(a popular laos dish) are as good as any i've tasted in Laos. The staff are very helpful. The WIFI connection is generally very good, the rooms are spotless with gorgeous wood flooring and for those in need of a little western influence, the T.V has all Euro/American channels. The road leading to this hotel is a little pot holed, although i feel this keeps the ambience intact when compared to the noise of some parts of the riverside area. I would give this place a solid 8/9 out of 10.

Great hotel but wear shoes with good ankle support”

Very helpful staff, spacious rooms, nice views of the river and a good breakfast with plenty of choices .
The riverside walk is nice, the Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel is on a part that's not yet paved and a bit out of the way. Out of the way was a good thing, it was nice and quiet. But I twisted my ankle slightly on the dirt road whilst out for a walk. I'd stay again, I'll just be sure to wear shoes with good ankle support.

I happened to be in Vientiane during the Dragon Boat Racing Festival so the riverside walk was extra crazy during that time; I didn't expect it to be so busy (I'd heard that it was peaceful). Otherwise, the Laotian people are very nice and there is a lot of charm to the city. As for the Seng Tawan, I give them high marks for an attentive staff, medium to low marks for security (the cleaning lady hung the very well marked, full set of keys on a knob opposite the elevator BUT no one got past the lobby without being greeted). Plenty of food choices at breakfast and the restaurant had nice decor and good food. Would be nice if there were a music alternative (it was Lao or Thai karaoke every time I went up) but the staff jumps immediately to any request.

Guests can walk along the Mekong River to night market, very near to the hotel. The view is especially fabulous from the top roof restaurant where the buffet breakfast is served. Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel ”

The restaurant was outstanding with food presented on the lines of a full 5 star hotel. Staff where only to willing to help and spoke enough English to make communications very easy. Free WiFi
The only weakness at the hotel was the road outside but all hotels in the area suffer from that as work is ongoing on the riverside, it did not affect us. No swimming pool.

The hotel turned out to be one of the best we have stayed in over the last 3 months in Asia. Outstanding food in the restaurant, served on the terrace over looking the Mekong River, fantastic views and the food has to be seen and tasted, real 5star quality. Staff where great with us and only to willing to help, English from the staff was good and they offered tips on travel, shopping and nightlife, all where spot on. The hotel is very new the taxi driver said on route about 4 months. There was free WiFi in the rooms and access to the computers in the reception; it did drop out a few times so not 100% yet. The Hotel is very clean and tidy. All furniture in the room’s looks new, the beds are just what you need after a day out. There is no swimming pool. The road outside is used by contractors doing work on the riverside so is a bit dusty and uneven, but it affects all hotels in the area. This hotel is fantastic value for money.

        Seng Tawan Riverside Hotel”

The staff speaks good English. They are very helpful when we request to change our room.
The road in front of the hotel is abit 'messy' as contruction works are going on.

The room were clean and the service is good. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast. The staff is very attentive when I request for a cup of the famous LAO Coffee' instead of the normal coffee served at the dining area. My friend commented that she tasted the best LAO coffee at Seng Tawan Hotel! Believe it is the best place to enjoy sunset while dining at the restaurant but alas on the day of our visit, it was raining.

Terrific Mekong view rooftop restaurant with deck”

Quiet location on the river, but easy walk to central Vientiane; in room wifi; helpful front desk staff; free airport transfer; new and clean

in a place full of cheap accomodations, the seng tawan riverside is a new chinese style hotel. we chose it for the riverside location and lovely rooftop mekong view deck for breakfast - and we weren't disappointed. rooms were large and generally clean - although the shower drain was clogged and the sewer smell of the bathroom was persistant. otherwise, the hotel is unremarkable. we stayed one night in transit, and picked a more centrally located accomodation on our next pass through ventiane.
