Probably the best hotel on Don Det/Don Khon”
Stayed here with a group of friends. Since they booked their trip 3 months in advance and I only confirmed my ability to join about a week before going, I ended up staying alone in my room, while my friends, a newlywed couple ended up sharing their room with a "gatecrasher" a friend of ours, the 4th member of our party. Although I initially wanted to stay on the big island since we were traveling by car from Ubon Ratchathani and thus preferred to stay somewhere we could drive to, the transfer by boat to this car-free island went very well. Due to low river levels, we had to do a bit of a detour but all worked out well. The following morning we went back to the mainland and later in the day returned to the island after visiting the waterfall. We also did the dolphin boat tour and visited the Cambodian side on our last morning. The room was very large, wifi worked well and breakfast was pretty good. Will definitely consider staying again in the future.

Lovely place”
Pros. Right next to the Mekong river and beautiful French bridge. Beautiful views of the sunsets. Lots of bars and restaurents within walking distance. Nice pool to cool off in. Walking distance to the waterfall. Loved this place so much, we didn't want to leave. Cons. Walls very thin in huts. Pool water a bit cloudy. Sun beds could have cushions on to make a bit softer.

Island trecking”
It's close to the bridge between two islands, so it's good. Our room was just by the road and we've heard the karaoke sounds until deep night. It is a culture here though. River view rooms are more costly but may be fine, I guess.

Top hotel”
Considering the location (si Phan don) This hotel is exactly what you need. It has a very nice pool area, the restaurant was very good (basic breakfast included) All rooms have a nice terrace or balcony. It’s a place you can chill and kill a bit of time It’s very clean and the service was very good Maybe a bit expensive but you’re limited for quality options in the area

A good place to relax”
What we realy appreciated at Sengahloune Resort were the different places where we could spend our time and relax. There is the pool area with sun chairs and tables and chairs for the children, the sunset view terrace at the Mekong, the restaurant und the cosy room with balcony in the hotel building. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but sometimes a bit unorganized and they didn´t speak much English. There is a lot to see in the area. Exploring the surrounding by bike is a pleasure.

Very pleasant hotel, by the Mekong with a nice little pool ”
We booked a room in the new 'concrete' wing rather than the wood bungalows. The room was really spacious, bed comfortable though a bit hard. Bathroom was huge. Luckily we we were on the ground floor, with direct access to the Mekong terrace. I would have liked it less on 2nd or 3rd floor. Eventhough not sound proof, the wood bungalows look more typical and charming. The small pool is very nice to relax as well.

Dreadful”
We stayed in a VERY expensive "tent" -- with no heat. The staff, none of whom speak English, and the front desk (the Manager, typically, was "away") never told us we could have heaters in the tent, so we shivered and froze the first night. So I complained to an utterly indifferent and unconcerned "Assistant Manager," and he offered us a bungalow-style single-room cabin (yes, with a single little heater)--at an extra price, for an extra bed (thus leaving no room in the tiny cabin). After reflecting on this and checking their math, I realize we'd been overcharged for the additional nights. During this entire process, not one single apology, no offer of a discount or refund, just indifference.

Upgrade was worth it!”
We spent five wonderful nights at the Sengahloune Resort on Don Khone and had the opportunity to upgrade from our pool view bungalow to one of the new deluxe rooms on the third floor of their new building. The room was one of the nicest we‘ve seen in our travels, high vaulted ceilings, lots of space, a beautiful view of the sunset over the Mekong and a really nice bathroom. The rooms are brand new, we might‘ve been one of the first ones to occupy the room. Food at the resort was solid, we ate there about half of our meals. Breakfast is the standard fare plus a noodle dish, note that they have great coffee though (real coffee)! The pool was kept very clean and the staff was extremely friendly, especially the restaurant staff. All around a great experience!

Wonderful hotel with everything required for a great stay.”
This property is the best we have stayed in during our 5 weeks in SE Asia. The rooms are clean and tidy and have mosquito nets. The food was exceptional and the breakfast acceptable. The staff, however, were something else. Friendly, fun, professional and nothing was too much trouble. The, the owner organised transfers, boat trips, kayaking days and bike hire. Motorbikes were also available. The bungalows are not well soundproof, but if that is a problem, the brick built rooms are available. If you are going to Don Khone. This is almost a must option.

Well managed, good English and with high standards”
Don Khon is a laid back island where we extended our stay to while away even more nights. We moved to this hotel because it had air conditioning and good wifi (for Laos). While significantly more expensive than our previous accomodation the free breakfast and feeling of security offset the difference considerably. The owner and team here are friendly and helpful. The management team are effective, attentive and efficient especially by Laos standards. We didn't feel the need to complain, but was disappointed that the two times we got our laundary back it was damp and therefore we needed to hang out to dry on our veranda. Only a small thing and not a reflection on the rest of the service. Efficient and polite housekeepers clean and restock your room daily with water and towels (if you need them). We would highly recommend this hotel if you have the budget, it is an excellent option for whiling away lazy days in relative comfort.

Good 2 night stay”
We enjoyed our 2 night stay at Sengahloune Resort. Powerful room air con, good breakfasts and friendly staff. It represented value for money by Western standards, but perhaps not within the local Laos market and typical accommodation costs. That said, we would stay there again. The 4000 Islands is an amazing location.

Best available on Don Khon”
Has quite a nice pool, great staff, good views from terrace to old French bridge, short distance to “Our kitchen” which is fantastic for food. Locals told us not to swim in Mekong here or anywhere downstream from Don Khong due to parasitic infestation of waters which can cause liver damage/cancer...hence the pool is great

Nice hotel with best view and friendly Staff ”
Seng Ahloune is one of the best hotels on Don Khon. It's in front of french bridge and the river. Especially the sunset is wonderful to see from this place. When we arrived our room was clean. Staff checked every day our Bungalow and we always had new towels. Also the staff are realy friendly and helpful. Food is tipical and taste good.

paradise with a view”
faculties were top-notch for Laos. staff were very attentive to your needs. On the days you wanna relax the pool is very refreshing as there is not many clean places to swim around the island. the restaurant is Okay, try the other restaurants close by as there are defintely some nice little gems. Great location next to the bridge (don vet) and close to the two waterfalls on the island.

A relaxing place to stay”
Really enjoyed our time here. Beautiful river views and lovely cabin which was a good escape from the afternoon heat. Friendly staff who tried even when language a barrier. Some issues with lost laundry (most eventually found) and a long wait between ordering and receiving food at the restaurant on one occasion BUT it was Lao New Year

Fantastic spot ”
Lovely place with view to the bridge. We spend hours looking at people walking on the bridge, especially school kids. The restaurant is probably the best food in town, try the som tam Laos. We were the only one staying there and were treated as King and Queen. Staff very helpful ☺
