Clean, good value for money and good location.
Perfect value for money hotel in great location. Staff pleasant and friendly with good facilities. Nice beach area, however is in a rocky spot.

Large room and clean. Quite resort, good for relaxing.
1. Complicated check in process. Need every guest ID card! (6 guests) Long time to wait. 2. Too much hotel asset card. For example, pool towel card to redeem at pool, breakfast card, key card... If you lost one of those, you will have to pay! 3. If guest took towel out of the room, maid will not give you new one. You have to leave the old one obviously in room in order to change them.

Horrible cleaner and uneducated staff
The location is nice, but there are many other resorts next door with better cleaning procedures, better food, and better staff that can manage issues. There was a horrible cleaner smell from one of the cleaning products in the room. I had to air out the room in 80 degree weather.

too many Germany tourist and not to friendly,we tried to say hi to them,but nothing came back from
them and resort kind like no activity going on except at the gym,breakfast not so bad,but if you stay more then 5 days you will get tired,house keeping always come to clean the room same time,our suggestions rent the motor bike or scooter if you stay more than 5 days,because taxi from the hotel to Khaolak center 100 baht one way and Bang Nieng 200 baht,the beach infront the hotel not so bad,enough beach chair

Great Stay
Our 5 night stay at the Sensimar was very relaxing. The staff are friendly and the hotel is beautiful. The large pool is the best as the smaller ones were very warm and shallow. The gardens are lovely and the breakfast was delicious. The beach is charming although small with rocks around it. Khao Lak is quiet at this time of year with some restaurants and bars closed for the low season but the markets are great and we had some very nice meals in restaurants close to the hotel.

Some things you should know
Sensimar is a nice hotel with 4+ star facilities and a great staff. But you should be aware that it is not an independent hotel but rather part of a German chain based in Hanover Germany. It is a high volume tourist mill filled with middle aged tourists most of whom are there on package tours. We were there at the end of the season and it was still very full. Breakfast was very crowded, staff asks you for "vouchers" for your other meals, expect to sign away your first born child for a beach towel. The night we ate the buffet dinner, we actually had staff come by in the middle of our dinner and put a little sticker on our sleeve like we were dining in a cheap cafeteria somewhere instead of an elegant resort. And you can forget about getting a glass of water with your dinner. Water is available for breakfast because it is included with your room and cheaper for them to supply bulk water on their dime, but any other time they make you buy bottled water because they can bill you for it. It is too bad that the facilities which are well maintained, the rooms which are beautiful and the staff which is friendly and helpful is marred by the package tourist mentality and policies of hotel management. It could be a really elegant place if they treated their guests graciously as well. If you are looking for a relaxed uncrowded independent experience and personalized treatment, you would be advised to select a smaller more intimate hotel. The entire Khao Lak area including the Sensimar is currently suffering from salt water intrusion into their aquifer. All of the water, pool, shower, tap is salty. They claim that the water district is working on another well but for now if you are going to Khao Lak, plan on being salty the whole trip.
