great service”
The owner Mrs. Ball in the Serene Guest House made our stay in Suratthani for a week very memorable. Mrs Ball is so friendly and helpful with great service. She helps us to book for minibus with tour and everything with a very good price. They are knowledgeable about what to do and what to see in Suratthani and nothing is too much for them to organise. We booked all our tours and other services through her. Great location to sites and eateries. We were very happy with our room which was clean and love the kitchen. Free coffee and mineral water served everyday.

Great alternative to a hotel”
The Serene Guest House is located in a residential area of Surat Thani. It is a good choice for those who prefer inexpensive, basic accommodations instead of hotels. If you would not feel comfortable on your own in the middle of a Thai neighbourhood then this is not the place for you. There are 2 rooms available in this guest house and if you are lucky only one will be rented and you will have the entire guest house to yourself. There are 2 bathrooms - the upper has a hot water shower. No fridge or cooking facilities. Free WiFi and it was very fast! If you send an e-mail to "Ball" (the owner/operator) she will pick you up at the airport. Ball also drove us to a restaurant and also to the Night Market (worth a visit)where we tried a variety of great Thai foods. She also reserved tickets for the Lomprayah catamaran to Koh Tao for us and dropped us off at the Lomprayah office on our departure day. Ball dropped off various types of fruit for us to try. All in all it was like staying with a good friend - much better than a hotel experience.

Amazing value for money.”
We arrived by transfer via ferry from Koh Tao. We took a taxi to Serene Guest house (100 Bath pr car not pr person!) but discovered that we could have mailed / called Ball to arrange a pick up. She was an amazing host, all though we only stayed one night. Guest house is small with only 2 rooms. Bathroom is shared, but it's no issue at all. Everything is clean and tidy. Walking distance to good local restaurants and room is fitted with an easy-to-read-map with restaurants, kiosk, market and 7-11. Location is a bit outside town, but taxi is only 100 bath from center of town. Perfect for 1 night stays before an early flight. Transfer to airport in private car can be arranged for 300 Bath (400 with AC). All in all real value for money! - Stay with Ball at Serene, you won't regret it

Bargain ... hotel owner is awesome!”
Serenity guest house was awesome! Honestly I would never come to Surat Thani for any other reason than to catch a flight … but if you must go for one or two days and you are on a budget this is a great place. There are only two rooms in the house and you do have to share a bathroom … but for the price I paid ($11 U.S.) it was perfect for what I needed. The owner is an absolute gem who will do everything within her power to make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. I stayed for two nights because I got in late from Koh Samui so I thought what the heck I would spend the following day getting caught up on pc related matters. I took the ferry from Koh Samui to the Donsak pier and then caught the bus to downtown Surat Thani. The owner of the hotel was waiting for me at the bus station when it arrived. The owner is the nicest young woman you will ever meet. The guest house is just that … a house in a residential neighborhood. The house consists of two upstairs bedrooms with a full bathroom in between. The bedrooms and bathrooms are spotless and have nice furniture, a very comfortable bed with nice sheets and pillows. The downstairs has a nice little kitchen with a half bath and a living room where you can watch DVD’s etc. The free Wi-Fi connection was excellent and never went down once the entire time I was there. The owner doesn’t live in the house so you will have lots of privacy other than the other guest that shares the house with you (I never saw the other guest while I was there). The owner always makes sure you have everything you need and is accessible by cell phone at all times. The kitchen has a hot water pot and refrigerator you can use. The owner provides some small food items that you can purchase very inexpensively. In addition she provides free water and bread for toast in the morning. The owner also offered me her scooter for 100 baht per day which was very inexpensive for Thailand. The house is in a marginal neighborhood but it

Simple and clean guest house”
We ( 2 couples )had only one night stay here after came back from Koh Samui and before fying back next day morning. The owner was very kind and helpful. She waited for us to check in late at 9pm. She even met us at Tesco Lotus to guide us all the way to guest house. When we arrived at guest house, she told us that both her Serene Guest House were fully booked. So, the guest house we stayed was rent from her neighbour who is staying just next to our house. It was a great stay and I would say it is very worth of money because we had our own privacy by renting the whole guest house.

owner is so nice! great place to stop off! ”
We had such a nice time at Serene. It is a small guest house (our group of three filled it) but makes such a great change from staying at huge hotels and hostels. The woman who runs the house is so lovely. She greeted us with a huge smile and gave us all the important info. An hour or so later she arrived back with food for us and then gave us a lift to the local shopping center! She was like our mum, it was great. The place is spotless and has a tv with a good variety of channels. If you are looking for a stop off in surathani just to get the boat the next day then definitely stay here!

Good for a night or two”
The serene guest house has two guest rooms with one shared bathroom. You can use the downstairs kitchen and lounge and get free water, juice and fruit. We stayed here for one night and is out of the city but you can get there in a tuk tuk for quite cheap. The bed was rock solid but pretty standard in cheap Asian hotels. They owner was nice and took us to the airport for about 400baht.

Nice small guest with distant location”
We stayed one night in Surat Thani while traveling from Bangkok to Krabi. Luckily we took this guest house. This was clean, nice and comfortable specially compared to the price. Breakfast was not included, but you can make your own breakfast (toast and tea). There is a shared toilet/bathroom between 2 rooms. Owner offered us a drive to night market and back. Night market is in the city centre of Surat Thani (quite far away). Owner also waited for us, while we were on the market. Good service. Guest House is quite far from the city centre and there is not much in the neigborhood. Owner ordered a tuk tuk for us to go to bus station in the morning. Tuk tuk was waiting 15 min. beforehand. Internet was free and it was working well all the time. Recommendations.

very good”
I stayed in Suratthani only one night as I had to take the ferry to koh phangan the following morning. I arrived in the evening and Ball offered me to take me to the local market to buy some food as I hadn't had dinner. She organised my trip to the bus station for the following day so I didn't have to think about it. The room was very clean and cozy and had air conditioning. I had to share the toilet with 2 other guests but it was not a problem as it was always free when I needed it. The toilet was clean and had a flushing system, which you don't always find in SE Asia. I feel I can highly recommend this hotel to everyone who has to spend one or more nights in Suratthani.

Ball, the owner, was really really great”
This guest house is not in city center. It is a house with both bedrooms used as guest rooms. No one else lives there. The house is brand new. The beds and all furniture is new. Ball, the owner is just great. She drove us into town twice and refused money for it. She suggested we all have dinner together at the night market. It doesn't get more homey than this, but if you wanted to walk to the Suratthani city night market, then this is not the place.

Wonderful service. Clean room and good facilities”
I was delighted to find Serene Guest House and was very well looked after. The owner/host went the extra mile on a few occasions to make my stay happier. I would suggest putting the telephone number on the booking site as I had no way of contacting Serene and had trouble finding a taxi driver who could read the address in English

great guesshouse”
we stay at serene guess house for only one night waiting to transfer to koh tao, found this gem of a place on agoda.the room are large with ac, free fast wifi, free water and coffee and very cute and clean. the only down side to a foreigner fpr this guess house is that you are situtated in a area where no one speak english so going for dinner was alot of sign laguage and using iphone to show pictures, which is fine for us we are in thailand after all not everyone speaks our language. the owner of the guess house, she was more helpful then anyone we met in our travel in any guesshouse or hotel, even gave us transport to the speedboat office.

a decent guesthouse ”
this is a nice little guest house (there are only two rooms). it is owned by a very friendly woman who will help you with questions, what-to-sees etc. it is a bit out of the main city, so it is suitible for 1 or 2 nights stays. she took us to the airport, early morning, for bath, which is a good deal!!

Feels like home!”
We stayed one night at the Serene Guesthouse and were so impressed by the lovely staff and the accomodation. We had booked both of the rooms so it was like we had our own apartment. Downstairs, we had free run of the kitchen which was stocked with free water, toast, and jam for the morning. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the owner was happy to help us out booking our next bus. Unfortunately we walked around the city in the morning and there was absolutely nothing to do, and none of the restaurants had English menus so I would only suggest staying here if you are transiting through the city, but not for touring.

Superb value for money”
We stayed here for one night before flying out next day. Ball was great, met us at the guest house and made us feel very welcome. Big room, comfy big bed, good air con and wifi. Doesn't quote as providing breakfast but he told us to help ourselves to coffee tea toast and bottled water, all complementary. He then drove us to the airport for 100b less than a normal taxi. All in all, a great place to stay for a small price. Close to the night food market as well!

nice bed and breakfast in residential area”
this guest house is located in the residential area of the city. GPS and google map located the right place, but be careful there's another guest house in the next soi. very clean and large room with family touch was great for relaxing. if you are arriving when no staff is available, there was a mobile phone hung on the entrance door. street food and shops are available in some minutes of walk.

Quaint and comfortable”
We are English teachers from Ban Na San, and we like to escape to Surat Thani on the weekends to catch a movie and get some pizza. The Serene is a good location, about a ten minute walk to the SuperTesco, and probably twenty to the Central Plaza. The hotel, as always, wasn't the easiest to find, especially in the pouring rain. And, of course the one road you are looking for is the one without a street sign, but a few passes and we found it. It is an alley off of an alley right behind the car dealership. The lady is basically renting out a two bedroom townhouse, so if you are booking two rooms you have the whole place. Nice kitchen where you can put ten baht in a jar for a cup of noodles. Living room with couch, tv, table and chairs. Laundry available out back, and there are even two crappy bicycles you can use while you stay there(crappy or not, I think that's great!) When you get there you'll find a cellphone on a string with a number to call so she can come let you in. She was leaving for Bangkok so her uncle came to let us in. It took a "Thai" ten minutes(about 40 minutes) for him to get there, but we are used to that and he was very nice. There was a shared bathroom upstairs between the two rooms, and a great laminated map of the area pointing out local restaurants and the market down the street. The only thing which would bother most people I'm sure, was that her uncle didn't tell us he was sleeping on a straw mat in the living room. We left to do some shopping and came back to find all of the shutters closed and locked up. We went upstairs and came back down to find the doors locked again which made us a little uneasy. I mean, what if there was a fire and we forgot our key upstairs? Finally later that night we were coming downstairs to go out for a smoke and all the lights were off. We heard a voice say, "Hello!" Scared the bejesus out of us! He turned the lights on and finally we got what was going on. He was still very nice but didn't we

Highly recommend”
Second time for us at serene house. Kasim is best host ever. Gave us taxi ride; friendly; helpful. Great representative for thailand. The king should crown him Prince. Easy to find with GPS. Get the driver to let you off when you get close. Only 10 minute walk from bus route.

Lovely hotel an service with a smile”
Its like a home away from home, only better. A recent construction house and brand new furnishings. Two full bathrooms. An area in the rear with lines to dry clothes. A bicycle for your use parked out front. A computer plus wireless internet provided free of charge. Its like renting your very own house if the second room is unoccupied. "Ball" came by in the morning to make sure I was having a pleasant stay and to help me with any travel or other local information requested. She speaks good English and is so willing to help you if you want to practice Thai language. She would bring in some local fruits or desserts daily. She also gave me a ride to pick up a scooter rental and to eat at a nice sea food restaurant. The house is on a quiet street. A minute walk takes you to a street with many small local restaurant options. A large local market is about 5 minutes walk down this same street.

Well worth it”
The guest house it self is wonderful. The owner can't do enough to help you, however getting there is a bugger. When you arrive at airport take the shuttle bus to the city it's only 100 but and takes I guess 30-45 mins. Now when you get to last stop which is in city center you have to get a tuc tuc, they will try and charge you 400 bht. Only pay 100 as it's 10 mins out of center. Argue with the tuc tuc to get it, as they won't like it. If your going on to the ferry the next day the owner will organise this for you, for 700 bht to koa tao. Very reasonable value. Have a nice stay and a happy holiday.
