Sha Tin hotels & places to stay

Hotel staff: - Receptionist & Front office: speaks English, deposit using credit card, fast check-in & check-out process (they also tear my credit card slip when checked-out to ensure no additional charging from hotel). they are helpful (answer many questions, give guidance how to get to our destination, even walk with me to bus stop just to show where exactly the place to wait). - Most of staff are polite Room - Nice interior, many lights (incl reading light on bed), good wallpaper, looks modern. No smell, clean rooms, clean sheets & towel, change everyday. Air-con & all equipments (TV, refrigerator, safe deposit box, hair dryer, ipod docking etc) & lights work well. Good glass table. No stain. No bugs. quiet. Springbed not soft. - Nice & clean bath room with bathtub, also towel and amenities. Good shower water pressure, no smell Location - connected to big mall from 3rd floor (newtown mall) and the MTR Sha Tin connected to mall. bus stop just in front of hotel (include bus to airport, every 20 minutes). Journey to East Tsim Tsa Tsui MTR station from MTR Sha Tin about 12 minutes. Others : - have many lift, always available (less wait time), using secure card/room key Overall : Very good hotel with good service. Nice interior, equipment and clean room. will recommend to friends. Although located in new territories, but surrounded by mall, MTR, and only 12 minutes to East TST (much better than stay in very crowded area like TST, Kowloon, Mongkok). The Regal Riverside is an excellent hotel located in Sha Tin right on the river. The staff is excellent. The rooms are fantastic. Very comfortable. Easy access to the Sha Tin MTR via any number of busses. Near the Sha Tin MTR station are several shopping malls with everything that you can find in Tsim Tsa Tsui. The best part is along both sides of the river are excellent bicycle trails and across from the hotel is a great place to rent bicycles at a very reasonable price. Even though Sha Tin is a very busy neighborhood it is a breath of fresh air when compared to TST. Highly recommended.

the regency suite had excellent views as did the executive lounge where the snacks, canapes and drinks were excellent. it was all worth the price since i was with mum who couldn't have travelled or walked as a tourist would in hk, so staying in for a day became easy with breakfast and dinner almost paid for in the price of the room. good views, good food and drinks and a relaxed atmosphere away from the humdrum helped connect with mum after a long time. the food in the main restaurant was great and it was indeed 5 star service when i cringed a bit when mum wanted freshly squeezed mix fruit juice instead of the individual squeezed ones available on the buffet - but they got it for her. and also did the egg hard boiled instead of the soft boil on the buffet. just that it did take 4 different waiters to figure out what i was saying when i said 'hard boiled', not sure if they understood 'haboy' or were just sounding it when they questioned hard-boiled. but then english is not my first language and restaurants may have a different term for what we wanted. lack of international channels - apart from your regular cnn bbc discovery etc. was disappointing. with business hub for asians as well as others, i expected more asian international channels. the bus service from hyatt sha tin to hyatt downtown was much useful. on a different note must appreciate the name for their bar 'tin'tin' in sha tin - but it was always empty and boring. yet all in all relaxed stay and no complaints.
