Excellent Location”

I was very pleased with my stay at the Shenzhen Shanghai Hotel. Given the price and that the hotel was 3 star only, I was thinking that I would have a communication issue with the staff. To my pleasant surprise, reception and all the front liners spoke English. They tend to speak loudly with hardly any courtesy but you must remember that English is not their first language and if they seem rough around the edges, it is because of the language limitation. Coming from a 3 star hotel in Guangzhou where NO ONE could speak English, I was very happy Shenzhen Shanghai Hotel. The staff were also EXTREMELY helpful when I needed help on how to get to the Marco Polo for my business meeting and when I needed to get to the Lo Hou Station to get back to Guangzhou. They understood that taxi drivers didnt speak English so the bell boy would talk to the driver and chose taxis that were reliable. The rooms were clean and basic. I was most happy that there was CNN on cable TV. From previous experience in China, the hotel TVs normally have no English channel. Location was great. There were many restaurants around and then there were many shopping places (high end and bargain shopws) and electronic shops near by. I would stay here again and I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I went on a business trip and stayed in this hotel. It was 2 trips in 15 days each for 2 days each. I likethe location the first time around. Even hotels like Sheraton and hyatt are located very far from the IT shopping hub. It is just next to the subway. In fact the exit of the subway leads straight to the hotel entrance. A nice budget shopping malls just on the right few blocks away from the hotel. Service and cleanness is top class but the language is a pain. At the reception is fine. You can check in and check out without much trouble. However, communicating from the room phone for room service is a pain. Carry a chinese to english dictionary. There is a really good one available for the iPhone. With English and chinese typing, translate to Chinese characters with English meaning and Chinese roman words. Easy to show and read. Overall, Shenzhen is a nice and clean city. If u can speak Chinese you can do alot more. Take subway from hotel to laojie for the ultimte shopping experience. Huanchiang bei is just located 10 mins walk from hotel. The biggest HUB for computer and electronics goods. This hotel is located at the heart of the Shenzhen CBD. So your suppliers are also likely to be around the area. So all in all a perfect hotel for business and leisure.

Nice all round hotel and reasonably priced ”

for credibility, many stay in shangri la or pavillion etc. but for the price, i'd say this hotel is perfect. generally regarded by locals to be an 'upmarket' hotel. i've stayed in all the top night hotels in huaqiangbei and can say that for a quarter of the price, this is much better. as an example, the hotel literally next door (grand skylight) costs a lot more. staff can speak reasonable english but don't complicate conversation by asking 'beyond the usual' questions as they'll struggle. clean rooms with all the usual amenities. breakfast is disappointingly basic but only costs 48rmb. lobby is small but grand and the entire building has wifi. it's well known by everybody in shenzhen so finding it is not difficult. 10 min walk from all the action areas in huaqiangbei and 5 min from mtr. fast food outlets such mcdonalds, kfc and pizzahut are 5 mins away - so is starbucks. i finally think i've found the ideal hotel in futian (after approx 15 trips all at different hotels).

Must stay Hotel ”

Stayed twice here .Excellent Hotel , Perfect location since vicinity to electronics / mobile market & MTR station . A lot of eateries near by , Pizzahut being diagonally opposite (just cross the overbridge & turn left) . Room facilities include A to Z Toiletries ,Hairdrier , minibar to Umbrella. Spic & Span rooms . Even a single room is good in size.Though cannot comment on the breakfast as never tasted. only a little drawback is the Reception staff takes time to understand english , but not a Handicap . not far from Louhu railway station if you are coming from Hongkong by this route. Taxi fare is Yuan 24.if coming from the Shenzhen International Airport , from Airport East ,take a Metro subway line 1( luabao line) and get down at Huaqiang Road station. takes almost 1 hour 10 mins . From Huaqiang Road station , walk about 5 mins ( 300 to 400 mtrs) and you are there .

very good location with clean facilities. basic and reasonable price. i was on my business trip and left with a few hours before my flight. i walk around huaqiangbei computer and electronics area. it is a 5 mins walk from the hotel.

this is such a great hotel in shenzhen and the price is very reasonable. the provision of free wifi is nice. staff is friendly and was able to provide useful recommendations about the facilities as well as the surrounding environment of the hotel. in all I am satisfied with the service and will surely recommend to you all.

Friendly staffs all around.”

Room is clean upon arrival and is always clean during my stay, Great Job! Near to train station so transportation is not a worry. Friendly staffs is a plus point. Hotel is near to wholesale market for electronic stuffs. Had no trouble getting back to the hotel via taxi as all of them knows where the hotel is. Will return to stay when in Shenzhen. Cheers!

Second Time”

The hotel is clean and well known in Shenzhen. It is located in the downtown area, next to the electronic market. There is a money exchange counter operating 24/7 inside the hotel. Sometimes it is hard to find a taxi outside the hotel, especially during rush hours. There is no grocery or supermarket nearby.

Landmark of Shenzhen”

This hotel has a historical important role for Shenzhen and it has his own unique charisma. If you are bored by the international brand name, it is an interesting alternative, and the location is very good too. The restaurant offer wonderful food at reasonable price

Nice hotel with good service”

Booked this hotel after reading some of the review here. The hotel staff is very friendly, they allowed me to early check in and they quickly clean the room for me. Initially got a room with some smoking smell but they changed a another room for me after I requested. The room service is nice, they even compliment a drink and leave a message. I like the bed as it is soft.

best location, mtr is just beside your hotel door”

pros: though the hotel age is more than 30 years (according to hotel staff) but they maintain the room very well. hot water is promptly available in need. drinking water always provided everyday and the room spacious enough for 2 persons and 2 big luggages. we'll stay heere again on the next trip to shenzhen. cons : if you want to go dining i recommend not to dine in the hotel restaurant, the taste and variaty of foods not so many. you'd better go around electronic market, there's one seafood restaurant that serve a good food. if you're a moslem you can find one small restaurant around.

Great location next to the Huaqiangbei market. A bit old but for the age it's very clean and has a lot of amenities within the room. Staff is very friendly.

shanghai hotel in shenzhen is best choice for business traveller. rooms are big free and fast wi-fi connection in the room also very near to restaurants and electronic market if you want to make a bargain shopping.staff can not speak very well english but is trying their best to help youç you get most for your money.

Nice hotel in great location with friendly staff”

Nice hotel in great location, very easy to access with metro (from huaqiangbei road station, take exit B and just turn right. You can spot the hotel easily by its unique design). The receptionist is friendly and helpful because the english is quite good, and pretty also. The room is clean, the only thing that concern us is the glass window bathroom, that can be seen from the bedroom.

Easy to find discount hotel near metro”

The Shanghai Hotel is an affordable discount hotel conveniently located near Huaqiang Rd metro station on the Luobao Line (green line). Rooms were clean and the receptionists speak decent English. If breakfast is not included, you can pay 40 rmb for a western buffet breakfast.

Good Choice”

This hotel is one of the well known hotels in Shenzhen. It is located on the most famous street in the city and is just one block away from the electronics market. The room I stayed in is perfectly square with panorama window view, which makes it extra cool! For Muslims travelers, make sure you bring an empty battle for cleaning water needed in the toilet.

Great Service”

the hotel is quite lovely.. the staff speak good english and they are very accomodating. when we first arrive, they told us that we can use the wifi for free. as i read online, they have wifi but very slow connection. the problem is we could not connect thru their wifi so i went down to the reception and told them about it. and it was around 12MN. they say they will fix it, so i went back to the room and unpack my stuff. after a few minutes somebody knocked on our door. to my surprise it was house keeping and he gave me a router. what can be better than that, we attached it to the wall and presto.. full signal all the time. their food was great their room was great. the only akward thing in the room is the wash rooms wall is all glass. we are both male and on a business trip. hehehe.. they have curtain so it was not so bad but still, im nopt comfy with a glass wall for my wash room unless im with my gf.

Pleasantly surprise with the service offered ”

I enjoyed the stay in this hotel compared to many China hotels I stayed before. The staffs are very friendly and always offer helps whenever I needed it. The room is not big but comfort enough for me as solo traveler. If I travel again to Shenzhen, I would consider to stay in this hotel again due to good service.

Close to Electronic Wholesalers”

The Shanghai Hotel is located close to Huaqiang Road MRT Station and is walking distance to the Electronic Wholesale Market. The staff is polite during check in and the room is clean. Wifi speed is good.
