FIRST SHANGRI LA IN HARBIN”
There are 2 Shangri la in Harbin, across the river. We stayed in the old one, design of the room & bathroom is a bit dated but still very maintained and of good quality. Located right next to the river Soong Hua Jiang, great view from the room. A stroll by the riverside in the morning & evening is a must.
Unforgettable winter holiday in Harbin”
We felt warm hospitality at Shangri-la Hotel, Harbin even though the temperature in Harbin during this time is sub-zero. The people here were just fantastic. They were very friendly, the rooms were sparkling clean. We felt relax with then smell the very nice aroma in the air the moment we stepped into the hotel. Every staff that we met in the hotel greeted us with a broad smile. We strongly recommend this hotel and we will be back again next year for our next winter holiday. :)
The hotel is located opposite the river bank. Across the river, you will see the Sun Island. To get to the Sun Island, you can take the public bus (No. 42) and take a taxi to the ice sculptures. It is a distance away from the city center though.
Old hotel but Super nice Service!”
The service here will never let you disappointed! Since this is the oldest luxury hotel in the city, every taxi driver knows the way to be there! I will definitely come back not becoz of the old room, but the service!
Very clean and comfortable stay”
Rooms are a bit on the small side given its China. Clean and comfortable, basic facilities and bathrooms are a bit worn out. Staff services are great throughout the hotel from check in, bell boys, room service, health club.
Luxurious hotel but a bit out of way”
The room was clean. The TV was sharp and had a good variety of channels. The staff were very polite and efficient. It is however a bit out of way. You hVe to use taxi wherever you go. There was no problem at all for you to catch a taxi as you go out but beware on you way back. It is best to hire a taxi wherever you go. The taxi fare is cheap, RMB70 per hour.
Reaonably priced hotel for a central location”
The room we stayed in offered a panoramic view of Songhua River, which is particularly beautiful in winter when it froze. The hotel offered an ice bar and ice restaurant during the winter season and we were pleasantly surprised by the hotpot in the ice restaurant of the hotel. Only downside is the hotel is showing its age and some furniture is showing its wear and tear. Nevertheless, the staff performance is very professional by local standards. We enjoyed our stay a lot at this hotel.
The hotel helped us purchase advance train tickets between Yabuli and Harbin. We stayed on my daughter's birthday. The hotel gave her a small gift on arrival. At dinner, the restaurant made her a small cake with candle to celebrate and a ginger bread gift as birthday present. We highly recommend this hotel for their generosity and helpful sincerity.
The hotel was a good hotel. It was nothing special for a five star hotel. The staff was friendly enough and helpful. The food in the morning was good. The hotel location was amazing. The only negative comment is when drunk people knocked on our door at 2:50 am however the hotel staff resolved the issue. I would stay here if you are looking for better hotel in harbin and do not mind paying a little extra. Did not see to many other hotels but after hearing other people's reviews and stories I think this is the nicest however not the greatest value for your dollar. Good hotel over all no issues staying here.
in my black list from now on”
asked the staff help to buy the talk show ticket , they told us the vip seat was 280 per one, becasue got no time to buy ourself so them help , but when we arrived they charged us vip price and just provided us the un-vip seat, the main point is that the vip price just cost 60 if you buy yourself at the show place. when asked the staff for that they all said know nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoy stay in Harbin during late December”
The Superior room is probably a 4.5 star standard compared to other 5-star hotels we've stayed at for a similar price, mainly in terms of the bathroom facilities and accessories such as blow dryer, etc. However everything else (particularly staff service, food and health club facilities) was definitely 5-star standard. The only negative during our stay was that we couldn't eat at the 'Coffee Lounge' restaurant on our last night there because it had been fully booked out for a private Christmas party until after 8pm that night. Overall the Shangri-La Hotel offers reasonable value for money but has a relatively expensive room tariff which may simply reflect the generally high cost of staying/travelling in Harbin.
Small room, out of way but staff are efficient”
The room is very small for the money I had paid. The hotel is quite out of way. You will need a taxi wherever go. There is nothing of interest except the Songhua River. Although the staff are very efficient and helpful, there is still no value for money at all.
Easy to reach from Airport, Very friendly staff. ”
It was very easy to get taxi to this hotel. Efficient front desk staff very helpful. Good restaurant serving international buffet, however, the western food need improvement. Local dishes like dumplings, soup, were very nice. From the internet map the hotel looks close to Central Street, but it's quite a distance away, around 45mins to an hour walk. If you want to shop at Central Street, I would not recommend this hotel.
friendly staff, clean/comfortable room”
excellent stay with friendly staff. Front desk staff were helpful in providing appropriate recommendations and directions. Shangri-La is centrally located. Most tourist attractions are within walking distance or short cab ride away. Room is clean and comfortable.
Amazing customer service”
Highly recommend this hotel. As a luxury hotel, you expect certain givens. But Shangri-La went the extra mile for us. My wife lost her prescription glasses in Harbin and we only had one day left there, but still 2 weeks remaining on our overall trip. We explained our dilemma to the front desk. Being on a Saturday, we were not optimistic about finding an optometrist who could do a same day replacement. Shangri-La made a few phone calls and found an optical store who would be able to look after us. But how does one explain "prescription" in Chinese. No problem - Shangri-La sent one of their bilingual staff members with us to the optometrist and by 4:00 PM, my wife had a new set of glasses delivered to our hotel room. We could not have done this without the help from the hotel staff. Thank-you.
Great location and big rooms”
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel for a night and our room was located on a high floor overlooking the frozen Song Hua river. Overall, the service was good and the rooms in particular were big (and so are the beds) and spacious. It is truly a 5 star hotel with very good facilities. The breakfast is good and there is a wide spread of food. I would consider this hotel if I ever come to Harbin again and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wishes to enjoy such 5 star facilities
I had a wonderful time in your hotel and have some fantastic photographs of the Ice Festival in Harbin. You MUST give this festival more publicity as I seem to be the only English person who has been to see it. I want to come again next year and stay longer, when hopefully it will not be so cold. I understand that this was your coldest winter in China for over 30 years.
Probably your best choice in Harbin”
We travelled over a weekend in January, for the sole purpose of seeing the Ice and Snow festival. Hotel was full, as it is their peak season with everyone there for the same reason! Rooms are fine, older style, and for the standard rooms, beware if you want an extra bed, they do not allow it. You have to book either the suite or premier rooms. We took a sleeping bag for my son! We pays extra for a club room, and this was worth doing, however, as the hotel was do busy, so was the lounge, especially for breakfast and cocktail hour. At breakfast, they needed more staff, food and plates were running out and not being restocked timely, the coffee machine kept breaking down so the management really do need to look at their staffing levels. The attitude of staff was brilliant, always trying to help and English was spoken well. You need to take a taxi to the ice park, probably only 5 mins away. The hotel doormen suggested that we keep the taxi waiting with us, at an additional cost of RMB70 per hour, and this is worth doing. As a lot of taxis are doing this it can be difficult to get one and and it is so cold you don't want to take the risk of being stuck outside whilst you wait.
Excellent Service and Location”
Stayed in the Horizon Club room. The service was excellent. Promptly checked in and offered advice on where to go and what to do. The Club Lounge was comfortable, though a bit small. The food served was good and the variety was great. If you don't mind splurging, it is a luxury to stay at the Horizon Club. Strongly recommended.
Lovely hotel although a bit dated. The breakfast served in your room is huge and very delicious. The Chinese restaurant is also a must try. I especially recommend the BBQ platter, the best suckling pig and roast goose I have had in a very long time.
