I stayed at Shangri-la Jakarta at the same time as Prisdent Obama (Nov 2010) - althoguh a little Inconvenient - the staff were great, no major issues. The Satoo restaurant overlooking the pool is a world class feast of food from different regions, from tandoori chicken to Italian pasta. The "Bar At The Shangri-la" (BATS) is a thrive of activity with live music and good food seven nights week. BATS is a regular Ex-pat bar well known to those weho live in Jakarta. The pool and gym is great and so is a in-house massage - either in the health spa or in your room. Price was pretty good for a relaxing massage. I travel alot and think this is one of my favourite Hotels.
A lovely weekend at the Shangri La”
We live in Jakarta but we decided to give ourselves a treat & went to stay in the Shangri-La for a night. We paid for the Deluxe room. breakfast was not included. When we got to the hotel, we were told that breakfast would be an additional $30 each so we decided to upgrade to the Horizon Club room. This gave us both free breakfast, a nicer room & access to the lounge all day, with a cocktails in the evening between 17.00-20.00. This also means that you can have late check-out until 16.00 on the day of your departure. This worked out very well for us because we wanted to use the pool before we left the next day. The staff were amazing from the moment we arrived at the hotel. They are very good at their jobs & could not be any more friendly. The pool and gym areas are lovely. The breakfast was fantastic. There is a very wide selection available. In the middle of breakfast we were approached by a member of staff to tell us that only one of our breakfasts was included in the price of our room & that we would have to pay for the other one separately. We had to explain to him that we had upgraded the room etc. This annoyed me because I feel like he should have checked at reception first, however, this was only a small problem in an otherwise great experience.
Comfrotable, luxurious but impersonal”
shangri la delivered its standard 5-star service. the lobby is beautfiul with amazingly intricate flower arrangements, multiple restaurants to satisfy every mood, etc. we stayed on new year's eve (2011) and the place was fully booked. despite being full, the place was not crowded. we did not want to join the new year's eve party (1.7 million ruphias) because we felt it would be crowded and loud (and it was). but we were able to have a lovely, romantic dinner in our room courtesy of room service. there is very little one can find wrong with shangri la. perhaps what stood out the most for us was that since it has very high security, the staff in charge of monitoring the entrance of guests are impersonal and it can get old (and annoying) when one steps for one second outside and then is forced to go through the x-ray machine and put one's bags and handbag through the x-ray machine even though all the staff saw us stepping outside to say goodbye to a friend. the breakfast buffet was impressive but very impersonal. because the hotel was fully booked, they set up the largest ballroom as the venue for breakfast on new year's morning. it was so big one had difficulty finding things, but there were plenty of staff to direct us to what we needed. in short, if you want perfect 5-star service delivered professionally (read that impersonally), this is the right place for you. but if you enjoy things a bit more laid back and interacting with friendly and warm staff, you won't find that there. btw, we have stayed in many 5-star hotels. but this one felt "stiffer" than most. it may be the security issue, but somehow the place lacked "soul."
It was a very nice experience to stay at Shangri-la Jakarta. I could do check-in before 14.00 and was handled by a very nice front-officer, Eifel, who offered a great deal of upgrade-promotion so my room was moved to higher floor and got breakfast. The room itself was very comfy and spacious. The facilities are great like the Horizon Club where I had my private and serene breakfast and also the pool that has a Bali-like feeling. For travelers and businessmen, this hotel is so strategic to office districts and shopping malls. Totally recommended and will be glad to stay again in the future time.

People make experiences, and at the Shangri-la hotel Jakarta the employees are extremely friendly, attentive and made the experience all the more enjoyable. The hotel has very good restaurants which are good value for money and it is central to the business district. The pool area is somewhat crowded on the weekends , as is the buffets, however the experience was positive.
My stay at the Shangri-la Jakarta was a very plesant one. Not only are the staff very service oriented but facilities within the hotel were magnificent. I was given the option to upgrade to the Horizon Club floor, which had a private and relaxing lounge at the 23rd floor. The food at the restaurants were also good - buffet had a good spread, but ala carte service could have been faster. Unfortunately, during my stay the Shang Palace restaurant was closed but the disappoinment was overcome with a great atmosphere at the BATS bar which had fantastic live bands.
Safe Staycation during Pandemic Holiday”
Shangri-la Jakarta did their health protocol at their best during my stay. But I got a bit disappointed during my experience to book the rooms at first, because of their slow response and unclear reply. Also, I think some staffs are giving false information regarding the lounge & restaurant opening hours during PSBB period, which made me and my cousin couldn't really enjoy the evening dine and drink well. But overall, it is safe for the elders and the kids.

I’m a big traveler for work across Asia and in most cases I always try to stay in a Shangri-la hotel if possible. On this particular trip I was away with a few Expat friends on a golf weekend. As normal the hotel room was great whilst the grounds/service and so was also excellent. In my experience this Shangri-la hotel is very well run and located in a great part of town.

We booked one bedroom suite for two nights and got upgraded to 30th floor. The view was really nice and it has its own balcony and seating area outside. The room was spectacular, excellent! It was really really spacious with living room and dining room, the design was classic and fancy. It was my daughter's birthday as well and she loved the hotel and room so much she didn't want to leave the room! Breakfast was super, with lots of choices from Indonesian, Chinese, Western, Indian, Japanese. Lovely garden and pool as well! Thank you, Shangri-la! We definitely coming back and recommend you to our friends and family.

Very comfort when stayed in Shangri-la Hotel. It gives me a unforgetable memories which is the city view of Jakarta. The hotel staff arranged me to 29th floor,that's can see all of the city in Jakarta. Althrough the location is not so convenience,but the hotel can gives you a comfort' rest.

Perefectly situated 5 star hotel, + all facilities pool gym spa massage, many spoilt choices of restaurants bars, I didnt venture out, as all was within the hotel itself, managemment and staff are the best you will find, just be aware of dodgy taxis from the airport, do not take white horse premium cab, I left my mobile on the back seat, and the driver claimed it, but denied it, anyhow long story, beware!! take silver bird or blue bird only, they are very reputable, and the hotel also advised to only take these taxis also, lesson learned you wont regret booking the Shangri La Jkta, get away from the busy congestion of jkta traffic :)

We have always chose to stay in Shangri-La whenever we came to Jakarta. The staffs are friendly, helpful and wonderful. The room is clean and comfortable. The facilities are very hood and well maintained. It was another great stay with Shangri-La.

Genuine excellent service and excellent facilities is my expectations when staying at a Shangri la. Jakarta does not disappoint, the room was recently nicely refurnished and very clean and well equipped. The food and beverage was of excellent quality and in particular the breakfast buffet impresses.

Had a very comfortable stay at The Shangri la, Jakarta. Its Executive Lounge on the 23rd Floor was was well managed and the staff very attentive and responsible. I hosted a couple of my business partners for cocktails and the ambience at the lounge was great for business discussions and entertainment.

Exclusive business hotel perfect for families”
Horizon offers a very pleasant service while checking-in on a separate floor, the receptionists were very friendly. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, suitable for staying together with 3 grandchildren. We had a reservation for the buffet on New Year's Eve which was abundant and good. We entered the new year 2013 in the lobby with other guests under festive and joyful conditions. The next day we had breakfast in a very big ballroom but i understood that we could have had breakfast at the Horizon Club. We were not informed clearly about this and we would prefer having breakfast on a separate floor because the ballroom was quite massive and unpersonal. The pool was a very good playground for the children with a nice garden and plenty activities were organised like ponyriding,playing soccer, a sort of animal farm etc. Due to the full occupancy the pool bar was crowded and the waiting time for getting your food was very long. Anyhow we had a very pleasant stay and we would not mind to come back again to the Shangri-La hotel.

Nice hotel in a crazy cmetropolitan city. Terrible traffic, incredible pollution and really noisy. The hotel is good (as usual Shangri-la hotel chain) and the service too. At the desk I was invited to upgrade my room for a small amount. In the upgrade I get the accesso to the executive room and of course to the breakfast service. Very nice service.

It was a very pleasant stay and it is definitely a hotel that I will go back to again. The customer service from the reception to the restaurants to the room service is excellent. The bed is comfortable and the room is clean. On the whole it is a hassle free peace of mind stay at the Shangri-La. Thanks for the hospitality!

We chose this hotel because this is one of recommended child friendly hotel. My kids was very satisfied playing in the water park and playground. Though one of my kid had accident during her time playing in water park (and I was panic), but the staffs was very helpful and bring my kid to the clinic. The food also very delicious. Will surely bring my family back to Shangri La
