excellent Sydney Hotel”
I decided to pay a little extra to stay at the Shangi-La in Sydney, because Shangri-La is probably my favorite hotel chain. It was well worth it. I took the train from the airport to Circular Quay and only had to walk 5 minutes to the hotel (just a note, it is up hill, but living in Hong Kong, no big deal). I decided on the regular room without the harbor view, normally I do not pay for the extra view. In this case in retrospect I would consider it, the hotel has a stunning location. Upon arrival at noon my room was ready and I found the room to be top quality with a nice west view of the harbour, though not of the opera house. The bathroom was nice with a separate shower and bath as well as the normal Shangri-La bathroom products. The hotel has a nice pool and fitness room, The included breakfast was worth it, a good spread of mainly western food with a small mix of eastern breakfast items. The breakfast room has nice views as well. Try to find a price with breakfast included because separately it is quite expensive. Just to conclude the staff at the Shangri-La in Sydney are top notch like other Shang properties.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location”
we stayed at the shangri-la sydney for 2 nights in late december. the location of this hotel is excellent -only a short downhill stroll to the opera house and harbour bridge in circular quay. the hotel is very comfortable and has typical shangri-la services/quality. the bedding in particular was very comfortable and i can't recall anywhere in the world with such a comfortable mattress (maybe the walk uphill from the quay made me tired!). but it really is comfortable. only negative would be the lack of tv channels available. very limited amount of channels for an international 5 star hotel.
Luxury honeymoon stay”
As we were on our honeymoon, we were pleasantly surprised that the Shangri-la had recognised this and treated us to a wonderful bottle of champagne. We found the rooms to be spacious and our room had a great via of Darling Harbour. The bed was extremely comfortable - which I suppose is to be expected of a hotel of this standard, and the room must have been recently refurbished as it was quite modern. In terms of location this hotel must be hard to beat, as it sits right next to Circular Quay which is a great place to be when one is in Sydney. Also, the Shangri-la was good value compared to other hotels we were considering such as the Four Seasons, Intercontinental etc.
Beautiful opera house view and excellent servic”
Absolutely pleasant and comfortable during our stay with Shangri-la Hotel, Sydney. Great and beautiful location right next to the famous & scenic The Rock & Circular Quay district. A have-to visit to the 36 floor restaurant and bar to enjoy delicious cocktail accompanied by the stunning view of Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The room was spacious and luxurious, beautiful interior and exceeded satisfaction with the services. Will definitely book this hotel as our future revisit stay in Sydney.
The hotel with best view in sdyney”
1,We booked the grand harbour view room,we can see the Harbour Bridge,Sydney Opera House and Circular Quay through the huge window in the room, and the view of sunrise is very, very beautiful. 2,The room is very comfortable,of course,it's Shangri-la Hotel. 3,The hotel is near the Circular Quay train station,it's easy to take the train from the airport to Circular Quay, but the upward slope between Shangri-la Hotel and Circular Quay made me crazy beacuse I was carrying two big suitcase at that time.
A truly 5 star hotel with consistent standards”
The best thing about staying at Shangri La hotels is that you know what to expect before you get there. It doesn't matter which Shangri La hotel it is, the standard is always the same. The rooms are spacious, well equipped, the hotel and rooms are impeccably maintained, there is always assistance immediately available if you need it, the fitness centre and spa is always well equipped and the staff are always going the extra mile. What more can you ask for in a luxury hotel. The Sydney Shangri La commands probably the best location in Sydney and if you pay for a Opera House or Harbour View, it is well worth the money. The hotel is away from the main hustle and bustle of downtown Sydney, but literally a 5 minute walk to George Street and the Rocks. This hotel is always my first choice in Sydney and around the world.
Shangri-la is amazing!”
Not inexpensive but Shangri-la is fabulous. The rooms are about 40sm and the views are the best in Sydney, I think. We stayed in a Deluxe Opera House City View - we loved it. A leather-covered window seat made the view even more accessible. The marble bathroom, with bath, boasted l'Occitane toiletries. Centrally located at The Rocks. If on foot it's an easy and flat walk to Wynyard Station. There are some steep steps to Circular Quay. We hope to return to Shangri-la soon!
Shangri -La Hotel”
I have stayed in few different five star hotels in Circular Quay. Shangri la is the most outstanding hotel from my experience. Very kind and helpful staff, delicious meal, clean room, everything was great a part from my dad got bug bites from the bed or gown. When I told this to lady at the reception, her reaction was not very impressed. She could deal with this more professionally. Not recomending to old couples, the hotel located on top of the hill. However, I would love to come back again in future. I loved bath frangrance, shame that Loccitane doesn’t sell it anymore.
A real treat to walk in to the lobby of the hotel ”
Our stay at the Shangri la Hotel was very relaxing. The hotel itself is quiet, so you don't get to hear any noise. You are within walking distance to the Rocks, Circular Quay and Opera House. Staff were very attentive and friendly. Our flight into Sydney arrived early in the morning, and it was no trouble for us to request an early checkin. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
Nice Hotel and staff, great views of Sydney from our room and the Lounge.”
We just had two night stay in the Sydney Shangri-La which is in a handy location to the historic Rocks area, Circular Quay and the Sydney international cruise terminal. The room had great views of Sydney as did the top floor lounge. The Sydney Shangri-La staff were very helpful and courteous as usual. Thanks for a good time.
Pleasent, cozy, comfy. ”
Very Pleasant. I stayed for a whole week. I started to feel like it's home away from home. Room service really a five star. Bell boys and reception staff amazingly helpful. I must say the Shangri-la team made sure my stay was memorable and easy. i can say this with confidence s it was a trip for celebrate my Husband's birthday and believe me i took notice of every tiny bit but couldn't find anything which was not up to the mark. One day i need a plug-convertor for my hair straightener and i called to ask for one. They took like less then 5 mins and provided me with one. Had to get the GYM opened late night and they did it without any problems (GYM closes 9pm) the only thing which i had to get done was to get an extra "dust bin" as they had only one that too in the bathroom. i have a habit of having one by the study. Wish was full filled with a problem. If yo talk about location it just a 5 mins walk to the circular quay form where you get all the ferris/buses/trains/HOHO bus. only thing to keep in mind is when you going towards hotel from circular Quay it's bit steep as it's on "The Rocks".
Great Stay at the Shangri La”
We had a wonderful stay at the Shangri La. Staff were helpful and efficient. The room was lovely, much larger than we had expected and the view was magnificent. On the night we arrived we got to watch fireworks over the Opera House and in the morning we could watch boats on the harbour and trains and buses cross the harbour bridge - better than TV for a toddler. The room size is ideal for families travelling with kids, as there is lots of room to play and the bathrooms are also large which helps. Everything was great with our stay, the location is very convenient, just a few minutes walk from Circular Quay, CBD, Museums and the Opera House - there is a train station and lots of buses nearby as well as lots of dinning options if you don't want to eat in the hotel. I will definitely stay here again on future visits.
Everything one would expect from the Shangri La”
Stayed in the Shangri La over Christmas in Sydney and was very impressed by the over all experience. Great location in the Rocks so it was easy to walk to most attractions in the CBD or down to Circle Quay for the ferries, train and buses. Staff service was excellent. The price at approx USD 250 per night was good, especially over Christmas weekend, but we were on a low floor with an obsturcted view of the opera house so managed our expectations accordingly. I guess one would pay allot more for a higher floor with un-obstructed views of the city. The only minor issue was the bed, way to soft to the point where after a few nights my back was crying out for some support. We asked for a double but basically had to singles pushed together with a sheet over the top holding them together. The only other minor point was can agoda offer a breakfast included option rather than paying the hotel directly on check out? This didn't ditract from the overall excellent Shangri La
Perfect location and view of Sydney Harbour”
The Shangri-la Hotel was a very nice place to stay. It is very close to the Ferry Terminals which is great for visiting other places which is only about 30 to 45 mins ferry ride. The Sydney Harbour Bridge Climb is only 5 mins walk and is a wonderful view when you climb to the top. Local Pubs are also great to visit and the staff are very friendly. The area was quiet and our view that we had was both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House. The hotel Restaurant on level 36 is a must see, with beautiful views of the harbour. The Shangri-la Hotel is place I would stay again when I next visit Sydney.
Here for the Sydney Opera House & Harbour Views”
You can't go wrong with Shangri-la! Expectations fully met with the gorgeous views from our Deluxe Opera House city view room. We lost our way from Wynyard station due to wrong instructions from the attendant seeing that we had luggage with us. As a result, we didn't get on to York Street and went up hill, down hill, round about to find the hotel. Be careful of the steep slope to get back to the hotel from Circular Quay, might not be the best location for those less mobile, elderly or little ones, especially when travelling with luggage.
A great hotel with a well deserved reputation”
Being familiar with the Shangri-la hotels in Asian cities, and their reputation for quality and service, we hoped the Sydney hotel would live up to the reputation of its Asian counterparts. On this trip we combined business with a very short vacation, so we wanted to make the most of every moment. Having such a nice room with a great harbor view and excellent facilities, such as the free and very easy to connect wi-fi; a great bed and excellent bathroom facilities, along with a very efficient and friendly staff, made this visit to Sydney one of our more memorable stays. What is more, through Agoda, we managed to get an amazing price !
Great place to stay for an anniversary weekend ”
My wife and I stayed at the Shang-Ri La hotel on the weekend and we have a great time. All the staff were amazing and catered for every request we had. The hotel and our room in particular were very clean however I’m not sure what the deal with all the plastic mushrooms were? Made the hotel foyer look messy. The view over Sydney Harbour was incredible. Easy access to everything in The Rocks and Circular Quay. Highly recommend staying here.
"our aim is to please" their aim is true”
magnificent location commanding the highest ground in the sydney cbd, the views over sydney harbour, the bridge, the opera house, north, east and west, even from the lower floors, are unsurpassed. can do - a willingness to find a way. in a fully booked weekend, even though agoda messed up my booking, shangri-la management and staff were able to find a way to cover your omission - by upgrading us to one of the most expensive suites in the hotel. head office and senior management concern within 48 hours of departure, shangri-la sydney's hotelgeneral manager plus their head office ceo, almost imploring us to identify even the smallest dissaisfaction with our stay - their service.
Excellent in every way!”
Very close to all the main attractions: Sydney Opera, Harbour Bridge, Circular Quay, and The Rocks District. My room has excellent view of the Bridge, Opera House , and the Darling Harbour and at night it is just magnificent. Cannot say enough about Shangri-La, simply the best!
