Absolute Paradise!”
shangri-la's boracay is as full service as they come. you have to sort out your own flights from manila to caticlan (closest airport to boracay) but after that, the staff at shangri-la take over. we were met at caticlan's tiny arrival hall by a handful of very cheerful staff. they picked up our luggage and ushered us through to a waiting shuttle bus. the bus took us to the resort's private waiting lounge by the dock, where we could relax on comfy couches while waiting for the speedboat to the resort. we were served with lemon ice teas accompanied by damp hand towels to refresh ourselves with. the speedboat arrived shortly and we were whisked away to shangri-la's private dock on boracay. here we were greeted yet again by a bunch of friendly staff. did we have to walk to the reception? no, we were carted off royally in buggies (like the ones on movie sets) along a route which showed off some of the resorts best features. so, a hassle free start. no waiting in line, no taxis, no uncomfortable rides. we stayed in a deluxe seaview, which was a very spacious and comfortable room with a large and usable balcony. the bathroom is almost as big as the room itself, with 'his and her' sinks, a large tub, separate shower, and yes, a comfy toilet. the rooms are serviced twice daily, fresh fruit is delivered in the morning, and bookmarks are placed on the covers in the evening. we even received little gifts for xmas (candy and cookies). there is a conveninent shuttle bus which runs from the hotel reception to d-mall (the downtown area of boracay). it runs hourly up until 6pm, after which it runs every half hr. there is a return shuttle from d-mall also. the resort boasts multiple restaurants and bars. we only tried one restaurant, solana, which is located on the tip of the resort and has the best views of the water. it overlooks shangri-la's two private beaches. they also play live music and have cool little outdoor 'nests' to dine in. ok this should have so

The best of the best”
shangri-la boracay is quite simply one of the most outstanding resorts in existence. boracay is a beautiful island but when it comes to accommodation there really is no second option. white beach is nice and the sand is beautiful and water as clear as water can be but it does lack privacy which the shangri-la provides in abundance. the pool is simply a work of art and its own private secluded beach is the prefect place to relax and take in the rays. yes, the quality of the sand is not as nice as that on white beach but that hardly matters. if you are looking to relax, stay in the resort, not be hassled by hawkers and get pampered by the most genuine and warm service in existence, then the shangri-la is the place for you. its not cheap but still worth every penny. if you are a single traveler and want to party and go bar hopping then head to the resorts on white beach. either way, there is just simply no comparison to the shangri-la in boracay.

One of the best luxury resorts in Asia! ”
A holiday to Boracay Island is amazing enough in itself. To stay at the Shangri-La during your visit to the Island is perfection. Everything about the resort is 5 star quality. The service is impeccable. The resort facilities are luxurious. It has its own private beach which is breath taking. Its definitely a dream honeymoon destination. We loved everything about the Shangri-la, and after honeymooning around Asia for 3 weeks (Phuket, HK, Vietnam, Cambodia), the Shangri-la was the perfect way to end our honeymoon. If you can afford it, then I recommend staying at this hotel when coming to Boracay.

Great venue and service, food less good”
the resort was excellent. we stayed in a standard seaview room and the quality / size / view was excellent. we also took a look at the various villa / tree house options but for just 2 people we didn't feel the significant extra cost was worth it particularly as we spent most of our time exploring boracay's dive sites during the days. staff were v friendly and competent, and we enjoyed the various free sports activities that are put on daily. we used the gym which was good. generally it was a v. good experience. only slight negatives... important to leave the toilet seat cover down whenever possible to prevent a bit of a sewage smell in the room - once we figured out the trick of keeping the lid down we had no further issues (not that surprising for a smallish island resort). food and drinks quality in boracay generally is far worse than places like phuket or bali. i was last in boracay in 2004 and was assuming food and drinks quality would have improved a lot since then but it was still relatively poor. e.g. advise sticking to bottled san miguel beer and v. simple drinks options (avoid cocktails or mix drinks which were universally disappointing) - once we did this we were much happier. the resort's food was better than the average on the island (particularly rima which was the best we found and we thought was good), but still the resort's food quality was well below the quality of a shangri la in, say, hong kong. room service food quality was low, the tapas at sorento was poor quality, food at acielo (the beachside restaurant) was hit and miss, breakfast was fine but not world-beating. i'd say boracay is best for people focused on activities (diving, sailing, kite-surfing, etc, all of which are excellent) rather than foodies. all that sounds more negative than intended - the resort is excellent and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Luxury in paraside”
Stayed here during the rainy seasons and despite the unfortunate conditions, the staff really ensured the guests safety and comfort in how they handled our transfer from the main island to Boracay island. Best part was when we got upgraded to a seaview suite upon check-in :) There was a "butler" assigned and you are given a personal suite mobile phone so you could ask him/her anything, anytime. The resort had a lot of different restaurants and complete facilities/amenities (as is expected from the brand/franchise) that you would hardly need to leave the resort. It has it's own private beaches though it's not the white sand that Boracay is known for. You'll still need to ride the free shuttle to the main beach, a few minutes away. All in all, great place to stay if you're willing to pay a little more for a luxurious retreat away from the more crowded/noisy resorts in the main beach of Boracay.

The hotel which even thinks of the little things..”
I don't believe i have ever been pampered anywhere else. A close second was Pimalai Resort in Koh Lanta, Thailand - but the Shangri-La Boracay takes the crown for the pamper-dom! The moment I landed at Kalibo airport, I was picked up by hotel uniformed folks at the gate and promptly placed on a van (the whole van was just for the 2 of us)... headed for the Caticlan Shangri-La lounge. A few minutes of waiting at the lounge, we found ourselves on a speedboat to the resort. The resort is beautiful - and is actually quite self contained. Two private beaches, several restaurants, a games room (pool tables, air hockey, video games etc.) gym, spa.. I personally found it a little expensive to have all my meals at the hotel - and a meal in Boracay town can actually be multiple times cheaper. The hotel is not in the main Boracay beach - and the only means to get there is the hotel shuttle bus. It runs every half hourly during the peak period and the ride out takes about 10 minutes. While not extremely inconvenient, one has to take note of the shuttle time table and plan your activities accordingly so that you will be on time to catch the van to and fro the hotel. Several occasions I had to wait for several vans before I could get on as the queue for the van was rather long. Having said that, I recognise that Shangri-la has tried to make this as painless as possible for their guests. The vans are new and in tip top condition - and for those times that there is a long queue for the van, they quickly despatch several to clear the crowd. My most memorable moment was actually my departure from the hotel. I took the 8 am flight out - and had to leave the hotel on the 4am boat. The hotel had prepared a full take-away breakfast for me to eat while on the boat/van trip to the airport... Now, that is what I call the Shangri-La service. :)

One of my best hotel experience ever”
This is THE best hotel in Boracay and the most expensive one, I believe. The staff service is superb and if you move out from this hotel to just any other in boracay, you will wish you hadn't. The resort is a huge project quietly located on the north west corner of the Boracay island down the hill valley and privacy is what this is all about. Therefore the water is clearer here and beach is under utilized. I shot some of my own best boracay photos right at my balcony here. Breakfast is just wonderful with more than enough of spread and faster replenishment than anyone can consume. I loved every bit of it and would recommend it to my friends for sure.

Luxury at its finest”
My wife and i spent the 1st day of our honeymoon in Shangri-la Boracay. We were greeted once we arrived in the airport and were transferred to their lounge where the yatch is waiting to take us to the hotel. The ride from the lounge to the hotel is amazing and before you get off the yatch, they will take a picture of you with the amazing view of the hotel as the background. We stayed at one of their tree villa so we had our personal butler, Nor, which is soo very helpful throughout our stay. Our room and the view in our room is perfect!!! There is a jacuzzi at the balcony of the tree house and we had fun with the bubble bath. The selection of food in buffet breakfast is endless, i tried to taste all of them but im already full halfway. Overall, if you want to splurge and feel luxurious, pampered and get a bang of your money, Shangri-la hotel is the place to be. Highly recommended if you are going to be staying in Boracay.

Shangri-ri La Boracay Resort an Spa was very nice hotel. I already went to different hotels around the world and I can say this is one of the best. The staff provide very good service and very friendly. The facilities are great for the whole family and the location was the best. Near to airport, shopping centers and restaurant. I will surely go back again here soon. Cheers!

Wonderful Hotel, Wonderful Place, Wonderful Staff”
The always perfect Shangri-La quality and experience in a great location. Staff is very kind and always ready for any needs you would have, food selection and quality superb, the hotel is nicely designed on the hillside and with access to a wonderful beach cove. It's definitely a quiet place and the kind of resort you want for a romantic and peaceful vacation, albeit you can still enjoy Boracay nightlife thanks to the every-hour free bus connection (until late night) to Boracay White Sands.

Best resort on Island”
Great location. Beautiful white beaches and clear water. I visited on Boracay 10 years ago and was hugely disappointed by how much it had been developed. It is now an extremely commercialised and busy party island and not ideal for couples. This hotel offers space away from it. Unless booking a room at a discounted rate the hotel is over priced. The pool and facilities are great however their are not sufficient loungers around the pool and the presentation of the beach bathers is poor - this is purely aesthetically. It is also difficult to get service/towels on the beach. Great spa - though expensive. We booked a delux sea front room through agoda which discribed the room as on the lower levels a few steps from the beach. On arrival we were located in a top floor room and were advised that agoda had made a mistake on their discription. The hotel handled this extremely well and upgraded us to a suite. Highlight of the holiday. Great breakfast buffet and dinner in the tree house restaurant. Great resort - shame about the rest of the island!

5* Hotel with 5* service”
We find this is the best hotel of all the hotels we stayed around the world during our trips. Shangri-la Boracay Resort is of 5* standard, rooms are kept clean and tidy up 2 times a day. I particularly surprise by all staff giving spontaneous services and friendly, we don't even have to call them as when services are in need, they are there to offer.

Fantastic resort in Boracay”
The Shangri-la Boracay resort is definitely the best hotel in Boracay and it's worth every penny. The resort is huge and offers a beautiful beach with one of the best sunsets in the world (and I'm not exaggerating) It's defenitely a good solution for families and couples that are looking for a paradise where to relax and enjoy the beach and pool area. I strongly suggest to avoid the "a la carte "restaurants of the resort and to have dinner in the buffet/barbeque organized every evening. Better value for money and possibility to eat simple grilled fish with salad. It's not a party hotel but a free shuttle service for the city center is provided.

Best hotel I've been to ”
We were greeted at Caticlan airport by a member of Shangri La's team who help us identify our bags and carried them out to the air conditioned van where we were handed cold towels and water and transferred to their private dock. A 15 minute speed boat journey takes you to the resort...this level of class continued until the point where the Shangri La employee physically checked us in for our return flight while we sat away from the crowds. Just perfect.

Amazing resort with a nice private beach”
overall the shangri-la in boracay was a great resort, with great service, atmosphere, food and good sizable 5 star rooms. the only downsides at all where that their activities were over-priced and that the restaurant where you eat breakfast doesn't do the best a le carte, but there are 4 other restaurants to chose from.

Amazing location and facilities”
The Shangri-La at Boracay lived to its fame. It is an excellent property which is not only well-maintained but is beautifully constructed and well-planned - like a true star resort. The hotel is a famed destination-wedding place and we saw at least 3 weddings in the four days we were there. The kids place is awesome and if you little one (s) are five or above they can be left on their own and there are a myriad of activities to keep them busy. We loved it - our 10th anniversary gift to ourselves.

Relaxing short term stay in Shangri La”
We were only for three nights in Shangri La, as a relaxing end to a long vacation which we spent travelling trough the philippines. And for this it was perfect ... the huge area of the resort makes sure that it never looks and feels crowded and there is always a place you can retreat to to read in peace or just sleep. The staff is friendly and always attentive, we found a few nice surprises when we came back to the hotel (prepared bath with flower petals, ...) The breakfast buffet is awesome and pretty much allowed us to skip lunch entirely. For dinner we usually went to the public beach as the options there are just as good as in the resort and not nearly as expensive. It was our first stay in a 5 star hotel and it clearly was worth it to experiene this awesome resort.

FIRST CLASS HOTEL”
unfortunately for us, we arrived on the day a typhoon hit the Philippines. Our plane from Manila was forced to land at Calibo instead of Caticlan. The Shangri-la sent a member of their staff to Calibo to wait for us and to explain the situation for us and even arranged for us to be put up at the Shangri-la lounge at Caticlan while we waited for the storm to clear. After we got to the lounge, we were offered drinks and were periodically updated by the staff about the situation. Once the coast guard gave the go ahead, we were quickly put onto a private speedboat and headed for the hotel. I was so glad I booked the Shangri-la for this leg of my trip as the jetty next to lounge was packed full with travelers waiting for the storm to clear. Our stay at the hotel was great. I would not have wished to be anywhere else while there was a storm brewing outside. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Only downside, I would say, is that the quality of food could be improved. It was nice but not the level which I would expect from a 5 star hotel.
