5 Star hotel for 3 star price”
We have traveled many countries and have stayed in world class nice hotels. But this hotel has the most friendly staff beyond your expectation. They paid attention to the memo that I left when I was booking here on Agoda. I left a simple memo that we will be traveling for our honeymoon so it would be nice to have a room with a good view if it was possible. They gave us a room with the best view and the decorated our bed with flower petals. Also, they brought us an amazing cake with the writing 'HAPPY HONEYMOON'. The breakfast buffet was excellent and had a nice dinner buffet with live Nepalese traditional music playing for $10. If we go back to Pokhara, Nepal, we are definitely staying at this hotel again.

Lovely room, superb staff & great mountain views”
I toured many hotels in Pokhara and ultimately picked this one for the loveliness of the rooms and grounds and for how quiet it was. I worked with the staff to pick the quietest room that also had a “big bed” rather than two twins pushed together to create a big bed (common practice in Nepal). When we arrived, however, the family that had been in the room we had reserved had asked to stay another night. Rather than asking them to move to another room if they wanted to stay another night, the hotel placed us in a room right above the noisy pool (even though quiet was on my short list of requirements). I complained. Immediately, the hotel staff found a quieter room with two twin beds and moved those beds out and moved a big bed in so that we could have a quiet room with a big bed. The next day they offered to move our stuff to the original room I had picked. I found the staff super sweet and helpful and I really enjoyed my stay. Breakfasts were great, the mountain views were spectacular!

GOOD RESORT BUT AWAY FROM LAKE SIDE”
GOOD RESORT BUT AWAY FROM LAKE SIDE. THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT AND BREAKFAST HAS MANY OPTIONS. THE STAFF IS COURTEOUS. BEST PLACE TO STAY IN POKHARA. THE PROPERTY IS LITTLE AWAY FROM LAKE SIDE BUT THEY TOO PROVIDE A SHUTTLE. A SMALL ADVICE THE SHUTTLE TIME SHOULD BE INCREASED TO 1900 HRS . THE SWIMMING POOL IS CLEAN AND MAINTAINED. ROOMS ARE SPACIOUS AND EXCELLENT. TRY TAKING THE GROUND FLOOR ROOMS.

Okay hotel, high price”
We booked the first night to suss the place out but ended up leaving the next day because it wasnt really what we were looking for. I must admit, the pictures online look A LOT better than the real thing. Keep in mind, the place isnt bad at all, but it is definitely not a real shangri-la! The landscaping and gardens are beautiful and it has breathtaking views but the actual rooms and facilities are old and out dated. It is quiet and clean so I guess it is good for people who want to be away from the hustle and bustle and can afford to drop a bit of cash. Food is decent. Definitely has potential but needs updating.

Good hotel - expensive for the region”
Good hotel, expenseive for the region. The restaurant was very expensive and had tummy bug due to the food on the last day - which was a shame. If I was going to Pokhara again I would use a different hotel closer to the main lakeside area that could offer better value for money and a choice of restaurants and bars. The staff were friendly and it was very clean.

Maintenance of the room was not satisfactory”
Selected Shangri-la with high hopes of good standards. The room was dirty. Hair of the previous user were found on the floor. The first stream of water on the taps was full of rust/dirt. Bath tub was clogged which was not cleared even after reporting to the staff. I wonder whether they were deluxe rooms I reserved.

Lovely location but Hotel can be better maintained”
Pokhara was a lovely place especially in contrast to Kathmandu. However we felt the Hotel's standards have slipped and maintenance could be better. Lovely ambience , vegetation etc.

5 Star? Stay away unless desperate”
I liked the fact that Shangri-La is located in a quiet neighbourhood and the grounds are lovely. That's about it. My friend and i stayed there after our 6 day trek to ABC. We were hoping for some level of comfort like decent hot shower. Instead we were greeted with power rationing. That's fine so long as there's hot shower. Hot water is only available from 6am - 8am in the mornings and 7pm - 9pm in the evenings. We had to schedule our holiday according to hot water availability which was quite annoying and 3/4 of the time we had to call maintenance to fix our hot water as there was none! At best we got lukewarm water. Our guides stayed in a USD10 budget hotel and had 24/7 hot water. duh??? We also did a massage. They rooms had no heater (just a blower which goes off and on every couple of minutes)! We were shivering & they have the cheek to say that we complaint was cold. Transportation - the hotel did not inform us that they provided free transfers to & from the airports. We didnt know till check out and after we have booked a taxi to take us. The other hotels we stayed in Kathmandu faced power cuts but they provided 24/7 hot water. We could even get hot water shower on our treks. If you are visiting Pokhara.. dont stay here.

Needs updating”
We have stayed at Shangri La many times in the past. This time we were very disappointed in the facilities. The swimming pool is still very nice and the hotel is in a lovely quiet setting. However, the rooms need to be painted and upgraded. Same bedding, decor, etc. as 15 years ago. Small old tv with a non working remote. Very cheap iron and board. The fitness center is gone, the food quality is poor, and the staff are very unprofessional and untrained. No hot water most of the days. VERY SLOW INTERNET and almost never available in the room. The two hammocks on the property are stretched and I saw several people (including myself) hurt. Sad to see a beautiful property going down because of poor management.

Nice vintage decoration”
Love this hotel, nice vintage decoration, tiny but comfortable balcony, beautiful garden and public area. swimming pool is small but clean with good view of the mountain. they even got a small temple in the garden. I don't know why someone said it's old, the TV is old, but everything else is perfect.

Exceptional”
The hotel is set in lovely gardens which are beautifully maintained. The restaurant serves a variety of food and the staff are exceptionally attentive, led by the excellent Shiva Duwadi. We had a wonderful time and would certainly recommend it to others.

Beautiful View”
This was a very nice hotel, a bit far from the lake but still taxis werw cheap enough. It did have a pool and some room service which was nice. The morning and evening view of the mountain range were out of this world!

Awesome stay”
The hotel is a small distance away from the lakeside but they provide shuttle service at certain times of the day. Staff is friendly and helpful. Good place to stay

Outdated and overrated”
Unreliable hot water, outdated furnishings, not at all a true Shangri-la. Overpriced for the product, despite being a good hotel by nepali standards. Save yourself the disappointment and book elsewhere

Lovely hotel and service with a smile ”
We liked the comlementary Airport pickup & drop and the traditional Nepali reception on arrival. Resturant food is good but bit costly. Hospitality desk was most friendly. The Extra bed for my daughter was costly. The Shuttle service to town cenre/ lakeside is good. the facilities in the hotel are fantastic.

the height of relaxation with stunning views”
A great resort with fabulous gardens. The staff and my version of service differed a little, but they were very freindly. The travel service at the hotel was great and would definitly recommend it. The buffet was often cold and not a great variety. A downside was that you are 10 minutes by car out of town and there are no shops or restaraunts around. If you want to leave the hotel the taxi service adds up at around US $7 each way. The hotel shuttle was not practical unless you fit their twice a day timetable and only offered one-way transport anyway. Staff were very friendly, but fully service concious. Food was ok. Rooms are great. Would stay here again.

Beautiful garden and amazing pool”
The hotel gardens and pool are beautiful and a sea of calm. The pool is fantastic and the team at the spa were very good, super massage!! The rooms are beautifully decorated but seem a bit old and so does the toilet. The restaurant staff were lovely and attentive but the food needs improving. Value for money was good as I had one of Agoda's offers.
