Traditional, Exotic, Thai Style Treasure in the heart of Bangkok”

We have a history with the Shanti Lodge (over 15 years) & whenever we are in Bangkok, this is the place to be. Unfortunately the staff do change, so we don't expect a huge welcome (like most places) in fact, do not expect any kind of enthusiasm from them! However, this place is a gem in the city & a fabulous place to sit back & relax. The rooms are small, but feels like a traditional teak house, lovely touches in the decor, with hanging motifs of Buddha's, shell mobiles & mosaic bathrooms. You will spend most of your time downstairs, enjoying the ambience of home, gentle Thai music in the background, lots of comfy lounging & seating areas with cosy lighting. The Shanti really is quite magical, hidden from the road by hanging trees with their tendrils dripping to the floor. Inside, you feel outside, surrounded by luscious plants, water features & dreamy mosaic floors. The food is outstanding, a bit pricey but worth it! Local markets & river are just around the corner for (fab)

Great place for travelers who like it real, organic, and fun ”

I really loved Shanti. For some people, this is the perfect place. It is affordable. There is an organic restaurant in the building. They have a yoga room. The rooms are small, functional and comfortable. It is run by women. There is a Thai massage place 2 doors down the street. Shanti 2 blocks from a gorgeous Wat with no crowds where I meditated in beauty and silence. Even if you do not mediate, the Wat is amazing -- as beautiful as Wat Pho with nobody there. Highly recommended.

very good”

We really enjoyed staying at Shanti. we have two small kids and stayed in the standard family room for few nights, we felt very comfortable. The owner Kim is very helpful and speaks really good English. Shanti's restaurant has great food, but it could be a little expensive but I think it was worth it! it is located across from a local food market and if you walk down to the main avenue you will find small food stands and a variety of local products. Also there is a cool museum and a temple, it's name is "Golden Teak" three minutes walk from Shanti to your right. We needed a taxi to rent for the day and visit Ayutthaya, Shanti 's front desk lady called Mr. Prawit. He is the nicest taxi driver in the planet! Very happy, polite and fair. Didn't try to overcharged us like most drivers would. There is also a nice lady across the street that makes very yummy ice milk drinks (just outiside of a hair salon) you need to try them..they are very yummy! We liked our stay at Shanti!

Teacher”

I am a American teaching English in Thailand. I recommend the Shanti to anyone who needs to make a trip to the Teachers Council of Thailand, for their license or waiver. They also have FREE bikes you can take during your stay, which made getting around a breeze. Close to the Ratchadamnoen Stadium if you want to catch a Mauy Thai fight. Good food menu. Good Wi-Fi and AC in room. 7/11 across the street if you miss dinner 2 nights in a row...HA!

A guest house to fall in love with”

This must have been our 20th trip to Thailand. This guest house came at the end of a 6 week trip. Love at first sigh! A beautiful place, wonderful old-school backpacker feel that took us back to our pre-kids trips. Very clean, even the shared bacthrooms are spotless ( We tried the air-con en-suite family room and the budget, shared bathroom, economy rooms, no A/C). Nice music, nice food ( a bit westernised and a bit expensive, but very nice),great staff, just loved it! And the location is perfect for walking to the river jetty or to Khao San/Rambutti Rds. Nice "local" street far from the tourst crowds. Perfect. Will recommend n our website ( World Travel Family) and ALWAYS stay here in future. This is as good as it gets in Bangkok.

Awesome stay!”

My parents used to take me here as a child! and it's still the same. I booked for a hostel room, but as there wasn't anyone else staying in it they put me in a single room for no extra cost which was awesome. The location isn't that convenient but its easy to get to from a bus, taxi or ferry! They have an awesome restaurant downstairs, lots of vegetarian food, which is honestly so yummy! :) Had a really nice stay, the staff are lovely as usual and nice to see a place stay so humble and nice over 10 years!

We loved our stay here. The staff was very helpful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely. It is a bit far away from most of the attractions, but you can take the river ferry wherever you need to go ! We would definitely stay here again.

Get what you pay for”

There is nothing particularly wrong with this place...but the location wasn't too great for us. First off we flew in late and it was really hard to find at night. The taxi driver drove around a bit and had even asked a tuk tuk driver where to go. You get what you pay for basically..
