Location, Location, Location!”
This hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the whole of Tokyo! Get yourself a suica card as soon as you arrive and you are set to explore as you can easily use this card for all types of travel - train, bus and purchases at many outlets. My husband and I stayed at the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu for 10 nights. We didn't have any of the hotel food as we felt $25 each for breakfast was too expensive since there are so many food outlets close by - make sure you checkout the Tokyu foodshow under the station: beats any supermarket I've been to here in Australia! My only grudge is their pillows - I found them really uncomfortable but my husband didn't mind them so hard. Other than that you really can't beat the convenience of this hotel, easily accessible, close to night life and shopping, and oversee shibuya crossing! Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay again on our next trip to Tokyo!
Perfect strategic location to go anywhere in Tokyo & around”
The hotel satisfied me and meet my expectations as when I choose it earlier through Agoda. Located just in the Shibuya station, thus very easy to find meals, coffee, and take trains to airport, Fuji Kawaguchiko, JR Train & metro-subway to different places in the city. My room is facing the Shibuya crossing, it was made possible due to proactive responses from Agoda and Shibuya Excel Tokyu team since the time I booked it weeks before. The room is clean, spacious, provided with sufficient pillows, sleeping outfit. The bathroom amenities, complementary tea & coffee, are beyond the usual quality provided by other well known hotel in Asia. There's vending machine and laundromat in the my room floor, so helpful. Don't easily trust any review who claimed the bathroom is so small, it is indeed enough space with very good facility. Even hotels in Europe which located nearby the station had much smaller bathroom space then this hotel. There is Money Changer Machine in the hotel lobby (5th floor) so it's very convenience for guests to change the money! The single bed wide size is wider than the usual single bed size in Asia's hotel, so it's very comfortable. I like the open concept of wardrobe, and the WiFi connection was very good. Just within walking distance, you can go to Hachiko statue and any shops around the hotel.
LOCATION, CLEANLINESS, SERVICE & AMBIANCE”
If you like staying in Shibuya (like I do), this is the place to stay! 4-5 star accommodations right in the heart of Shibuya. Pros: 1. Location- the Hotel sits right on top of the Shibuya Station, talk about on/off train from your hotel room door within minutes! And the view overlooking the Shibuya crossing aint too shabby either! 2. Rooms- size is perfect, amenities are perfect, clean, modern. 3. Concierge- In-Room Massages, Luggage Transfer Service, Michelin Star Reservations, everything on point and seamless! 4. TRANSPORTATION- Tokyu Shibuya Excel is 1 of 2 hotels, the Limousine Bus will directly drop-off/pick-up to and from both the Haneda and Narita International Airports!!! For like $10-$15 USD, score! Big time! Cons: 1. PRICE- can be slightly steep amongst surrounding hotels, but such hotels probably don't have the same amenities and is definitely a walk aways.... 2. Visited in January (30-40 degrees F), and the water condensation on the windows were a problem.
Excellent location, a bit expensive, best view”
We loved our room, upgraded to high floor with the best view of shibuya crossing. You get what you pay for, room was a bit expensive but watching shibuya crossing was one of the highlights of our trip. Room was large for Japan standards. Staff was helpful but not really good English speakers. Don't miss Midori sushi on 4th floor of Mark City attached to hotel (unforgettable sushi, good Price). Tokyu Food show is accessible underneath the hotel. Convenience stores all around the area of hotel. Free in-room Wi-fi is fast enough and has strong signal. Shower curtains had funky smell, room had a hint of smoky smell (maybe from Smoking floors) but all bearable. Expensive but convenient for us especially travelling with 3y/o toddler and first timer in Tokyo. Train stations just an elevator ride away. Room 2201 has corner view, great experience. Check out was a breeze. We took airport limo bus from airport to hotel and vice versa. Very convenient especially travelling with kids and big luggages. The hotel is one of the bus stops. Travel time is almost 2 hours to and from Narita. I will definitely stay here given with acceptable price.
Easiest place to stay! ”
This is the second time I've stayed at Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu while visiting Tokyo for a few days and they make everything so convenient I keep returning. Yes, there's other hotels that are cheaper, but the location and hotel room is bigger than others I've stayed in. Limousine Buses from Narita or Haneda stop right outside the lobby doors, there's Tokyu food halls in the basement and across the street, and easy subway and bus access.
Comfortable Room,Amazing Location,Helpful Stuff”
This was my 3th time check in, this time decide go for quad room with 6night stay Rooms size is much more bigger and beds still remains comfortable, the housekeeping help clean the rooms every day. The hotel location is super convenient just a doorstep can access to the Shibuya station and around hotel got such great food like ramen, curry rice and Chinese wok restaurant.... The hotel stuff is very helpful which help me to collect my goods and send email and a notice letter to remain me. I will come back to Shibuya Tokyu Excel Hotel for my next visit to Tokyo.. Cheers for all personnel, you guys make me feel like home..big claps
Highlight of our Tokyo stay”
This hotel couldn't have been better - Direct entry from Shibuya station. Overlooking the Shibuya Scramble and Hachicko. You can also get a view of the rooftop soccer field featured in the fast and the furious movie. The hotel is very busy as i assume they are fully booked but we didn't mind. Never had to wait for an elevator or service from the front desk. If this is your first time in Tokyo (Like us!) i would definitely recommend this hotel as your home base for 3-4 days where you can explore Shibuya and be only 10-15 minutes away from your hotel or wander to Harajuku (1 station away) or Shinjuku (2 stations away). There is a lot of food and shopping in and around the hotel everything is walking distance including a massive basement for Tokyu Mall that basically has everything. I couldn't say anything bad from our trip - Maybe that the mini bar was empty? Lol.
The best location you can find”
This was my second stay at Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu and I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Shibuya if I were to come back again. You can't find a location better than this - right in the heart of Shibuya, near to railway stations, restaurants and cafes, shopping malls and to the Shibuya scramble. Everything was within easy reach and the view was spectacular. It was fun just people watching from the hotel room. The only down side was wifi wasn't that great. We didn't have a problem with the size of the room but if you prefer more room go for premiere double.
Great stay”
The Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu is located adjacent to the Shibuya train station making it VERY convenient for traveling. We had an awesome view of the Shibuya crossing which added points to the location of the hotel. The rooms were very clean and fully stocked with all the amenities every day. A coin operated laundromat on the 8th, 9th and 10th floors allowed us to pack less clothes leaving room for more goodies to bring home. The staff was more than accommodating and most spoke flawless English besides Japanese. Thank you!
Hotel Above Shibuya Crossing And Shibuya Station”
Known for its vibrant and energetic location, the 4-star Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu is above the fashionable Mark City shopping mall and surrounded by other countless malls, restaurants, and bars. This 408-room hotel likes to focus on the individual needs of the guests. The property has two floors reserved specifically for women with face cream, jewelry boxes, and plants in each room. There are also rooms for non-smokers and guests with disabilities. Other features include two restaurants, airport pick-up and drop-off, and an ice machine and drinks on every floor.
Comfortable and well-located”
The hotel is in an excellent location. It's on top of a complex that connects via skybridge with Shibuya Station and you can reach it, and the other facilities connected to it (such as the Tokyu Department Store) in just a minutes' walk. We got to the hotel from Narita by taking the limousine bus, which departed from the Terminal 1 South Wing and went right to the door of the hotel. You can take the Narita Express train but if you have luggage be aware that you have to walk a bit (something to be aware of if you have much luggage). Our room had a great view of the Shibuya scramble crossing, the only problem slight being that quite a bit of condensation appeared on the inside of the windows during the night - our stay was during 10-11 C degree weather. We didn't use the hotel restaurant so no comments on that. I would stay here again if traveling with just adults. I don't think the area is all that suited for tourists with young children.
Great hotel in the heart of Shibuya.”
Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu has a great location, just in the heart of Shibuya and right next to Shibuya station. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and just the right size. The staff speaks good English and are very helpful if you have any questions. A great useful thing is the free internet, which is included in all rooms. Unfortunately this hotel doesn't include breakfast and their restaurants are very expensive, so I recommend buying your own breakfast in the supermarket to have in the room.
Excellent Tokyo hotel”
I booked the Excel Shibuya for my first trip to Japan having read some great reviews of the hotel. Our stay exceeded that completely!! Firstly the location of this hotel is Incredible... directly within shibuya station practically. From the glass elevator you can are overlooking shibuya crossing. Yhe view is simply stunning and so practical as a point of access to get around Tokyo. The hotel is clean and comfortable with excellent toiletries and a lovely shower. The breakfast is wonderful and you can choose between Japanese set meal or western buffet. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and will stay here again when I return to Tokyo!
Shibuya Excel Hotel is the best”
The Shibuya Excel Hotel was my first stay in Tokyo Japan. I must say it was the most wonderful experience. The Hotel is brilliantly located, has the best views, lovely and clean and tidy and very quiet. Very relaxing to return to after a busy day exploring this wonderful part of the world. The staff are great ambassadors for Japan and maintain that lovely warmth, respect and friendliness of all Japanese people. I have no hesitation in recommending the Shibuya Excel to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced, comfortable hotel in Tokyo. The longer you stay the better!!!
Great Location, Great Nightlife”
The biggest selling point is the location. It is right there in the middle of Shibuya, just a skip and hop to the infamous Shibuya 109. The hotel is very busy and there is a bit of a wait for help. I actually got cut off by a couple of other people staying there while waiting in line for things. I asked for early check-in and even though I was told it was ok, I ended up waiting almost until the regular check-in time to get into my room. Since I asked for it, they were going to charge me an additional fee but didn't tell me so. I didn't know about the fee until someone told me they were waving it since the room took so long. Everyone at reception spoke excellent English which was very helpful. There are 2 glass elevators leading up to the rooms which offered a great view of Tokyo. The room itself was a good size with free internet (via dsl cable that was already in the room), a niffy alarm clock with buttons for all of the lights in the room, a vanity table with good lighting, tv, mini frig, hot water pot, tea, robes, slippers, etc. There's also a shuttle service to and from the hotel and airport for 3000 yen. The hotel may be right across from the train station in the Mark City Building, but it was hard to find. The lobby/reception is actually on the 5th floor. The first couple of floors is a shopping mall. You need to find a small room with an elevator that will take you to reception. That room is right across from the escalators that are outside. From there you take another elevator to get to your room. The food available there was extremely overpriced so I never ate at the hotel, but there are great places to eat all around Shibuya, some of which are open 24/7. Many places are open late in Shibuya and I always saw people walking around and hanging out. It's easy to get around to Shinijuku from Shibuya, but you'd have to do a bit of train changing and it's a long train ride from major tourist attractions like Asakusa, Ginza, Fish Mar
The best location thus far!”
This is my first time staying at Shibuya Excel and I think this is by far the best location compared to my previous stays at Shinjuku and Shiodome areas. The hotel is in the centre of all the buzz in Shibuya. It was so convenient to access the train station, food outlets and shopping. We didn't have to travel beyond Shibuya if we didn't want to. The triple room had 3 beds wide enough to sleep 1 adult and 1 child per bed rather comfortably, which was what we did. I would certainly stay in this hotel for future trips to Tokyo. I saved a great amount of money booking through Agoda compared to the prices listed on the hotel's official website. I particularly liked the 24 hour online chat customer service which I found helpful for late sleepers like myself.
Exceptional”
My go-to place in Tokyo. An incredibly convenient yet secure location above Shibuya Station, with a direct bus to both airports out back and amazing views of the city by both day and night. Rooms are compact, as one would expect for Tokyo, but the space is clean, stylish, and well-utilized, so the single rooms are intimate but never cramped. (The enormous picture windows definitely help - the view of the city from the upper floors is truly something to behold.) The staff are unfailingly kind and helpful, and speak excellent English. A huge bonus is the opportunity to store your luggage in the hotel office, which is a great way to sightsee before or after checking in/out without having to lug your stuff around. Plenty of free amenities are included in each room, including toiletries, slippers, coffee and tea, hair bands, razors, and shaving cream. Literally steps from everything in Shibuya, yet the rooms are extremely quiet. No better value for the money.
Easy Access, in Front of Famous Hachiko statue!”
I Love this Hotel! Last March is my second time to stay in Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu Tokyo, and I still satisfied with this hotel. This hotel is not a fancy 5 star hotel, but has a superb location, clean room, small but not too tiny rooms (we still have enough space with our 2 big luggage). Near Shibuya stations means near restaurants and cool shopping areas! It is located just in front of Shibuya station, a JR station and has a connecting floor from the hotel to Shibuya station. Easy access to go to every part of Tokyo. It's also connected to Tokyu Department Stores, who has a kids play area in the roof top. Definetely will stay in this hotel again!!
Glad of my choice”
The are 2 things I will choose to return to Shibuya Excel for 1) every room comes with a smartphone with WiFi and local calls/SMS that you can take out with you. Google map app is already installed. The phone has local number that my local friends can call me at. I hardly use my iPhone and the data plan I bought. 2) location - right by Shibuya Station with JR and metro lines. Shibuya Excel Hotel is one of the Airport limousine bus drop off/pick up stop. Much more convenient to take the limousine bus to/fro airport than JR train. Hotel sits right by the famous Shibuya crossing and I can watch the crossings from my room. There are several economical Japanese eateries or cafes for breakfast if you are not opting for hotel breakfast. There is a mall Mark City attached to hotel with supermarket and a long food gallery Food Show in the basement with lots of Japanese food choices and fresh fruits.
When In Tokyo, Stay At SHIBUYA EXCEL!”
There are no cons! The hotel is literally in top of the Shibuya Train Station, Shibuya Crossing and the underground FOOD COURT! There is no better place to stay. It is so convenient for traveling and there are so many places to eat at surrounding the hotel. The best ramen and Kobe beef skewers are a block away from the hotel, past Shibuya Crossing in front of Wendy's. If you're looking for gifts to take home, Don Quixote is about 2 blocks away. The hotel has very good English speaking staff and are very friendly. The rooms are extremely clean and spacious, nit common among hotels in Tokyo where rooms are very cramped and small. You have a choice of either a western and Japanese breakfast, we always did the western and enjoyed Japanese cuisine all day. Trust us, this is hands down the best hotel for the price you're paying with all the conveniences a traveler needs.
