A definitive Japanese experience”

What a treat! The hotel locates near one of the volcanic lakes in the Shikotsuko-Toya National Park -- the much less developed one with only a handful of hotels (two floors high at most). We stayed in rooms with a traquil lake view. The hotel has great hot-spring facilities and serves exquisite Kaiseki meals. The service is meticulous, and the attention to detail is almost touching. Not to mention its Zen-like atmosphere. Will definitely stay there again if I do go back. Highly recommended!

Very good retreat”

It is nice onsen hotel near Shikotsuko lake. The room we chose is room with garden open air hot spring bath which very great to enjoy onsen in the room. The kaiseki dinner is so great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only minus thing is although the resort near the beautiful lake but it is hard to view the lake from the room, because the trees between the hotel and the lake are too high.

Spacious room and great service ”

The Ryokan is about 40 drive to the New Chitose Airport. The twin-room is modern spacious, clean, has a big toilet with a stand-alone tub. There is also a sitting area next to the window. The ryokan has spacious lobby area and reservable onsen room. It offers free flow of coffee at the lobby, morning snacks and night light supper. The kaiseki dinner was excellent too. One issue I had was that the photo shown in Agoda for the twin-room in-room was one with an onsen bath. When I clarified with the manager, he was kind to call Agoda. When Agoda insisted that my booking did not include onsen in the room though the reservation page on the apps showed that photo, the Ryokan manager was kind to explain that all rooms with onsen were taken up and he offered us a complimentary use of the reserved bath.

Great Japanese Resort Hotel”

Everything is perfect with two areas for improvement. Firstly, we arrived before 6pm and was told by the receptionist that no dinner is available anymore as all are reserved. Moreover there is no restaurant opening at that time in nearby area. What a surprise! We literally could not have dinner at the hotel, neither could we find a restaurant nearby! We had to drive 40 mins to Chitose city to have our dinner and then drive another 40 mins to come back to hotel! Given the circumstances, the hotel should have enough restaurants and chefs to ensure every guest can have dinner in the hotel! Secondly, most hotel rooms just have twin bed configuration which is not suitable for couples. This kind inflexible bed configuration should be improved taking into consideration of the needs for couples to sleep together.

Very relaxing & welcoming atmosphere, and a great value for money.”

I stayed for 1 night in the "Japanese Western Style Room with Open-Air Bath - Adult Only" room for around the cost of 30,000 Yen. The booking only included breakfast; dinner was an additional 8,000 Yen / person (we didn't add dinner, but I believe it was Teppanyaki). The room was very nicely decorated. It was spacious and had a private open-air backyard-like area with the private hot springs. It was very well maintained and there was also a capsule machine with coffee & tea free to consume. The front-desk staff were very friendly as well. Due to the location being quite remote, the hotel also runs free shuttle service to the Minani-Chitose station (otherwise you'll have to take the bus or drive). There's not much to do in the area except for sight-seeing or hiking, but it was very relaxing to stroll through the area and enjoy the views of the lake & mountains.

A Relaxing Vacation Away from the Crowds”

Stayed here for 2 nights. Our room with the onsen overlooking the lake couldn't be more perfect. Soaking in the onsen while it was snowing outside was divine. The room was very spacious and very clean. The food, especially the beef, was excellent. I would suggest that you book the hotel shuttle service in advance as it gets fully booked. We felt like annoying gaijins with our big luggage in the local bus, so we opted to get a taxi to get back to the city. There is not much to see in Shikotsuko except for the snow festival when we were there. Not much foreign tourists around. It was a secluded, quiet place was what we were looking for so it all worked out. Overall, I highly recommend this place. I would love to go back probably in autumn.

A real adventure for the Western Traveller”

By location being excellent it is out of the way and on the water - I presume going to the spa means that you are trying to get away from the hustle and bustle. You are actually a $60 cab ride away from the train station so arrange for the once a day shuttle to come get you at 2pm meet at the Chitose train station at the bottom of the escalator near the JR entrance. Someone will meet you and have your name. It is weird going there as none of the Japanese people on the shuttle had any luggage. Once there, you get robes and sandals and thats how you go to breakfast, lunch and to the public bathing areas. Food is fantastic - and though the price in comparison to other places looks expensive - you are getting breakfast and dinner for two included in the price so the value for the money is actually much better than you may originally think. English is a stretch, it is not a touristy place but a great find for the adventurous.

The loveliest hotel!”

This has been my favorite throughout the trip in Hokkaido. Every detail seems to be considered, every corner was so delicate. Rooms were comfortable, clean, warm, with the best bath and window view. The public bathing area was also fine designed. Remember to book meals or you’ll have to eat 20mins drive away in Chitose. Highly recommended to stay to experience a traditional high-class ryokan!

Romantic honeymoon getaway!”

Both me and my husband loved this place. Great infrastructure and conveniently located within walking distance of the beautiful Lake Shikotsu. We stayed here for 3D2N from 29/11/16 - 01/12/16. By this time, it was already snowing in Hokkaido. The hotel is probably not fully booked at this time as we often find ourselves exploring their lounges with nobody else in sight, excluding the hotel staffs. The staffs were extremely pleasant and very attentive to our needs - they are accommodating to our dietary restrictions and made sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. The staffs there speak meticulous English and some try very hard - we are so glad that we did not meet with any communication difficulties. If you plan to get to this hotel without paying a bomb for the taxi, be sure your flight into Hokkaido meets the last free hotel shuttle bus. Otherwise, you'd consider paying for the shuttle bus to the lake which stops operating at roughly 1630hrs. If all else fails, a 20-35 minutes cab ride should cost ¥7000-8000, which was what we paid for. We cannot tell you enough how beautiful this onset ryokan is. It's truly gives an authentic Japanese experience. All in all, we would definitely recommend this place! And we will definitely stay here again when we visit Hokkaido.

I love this hotel”

Hubby and I stayed one night at this hotel in mid-January (self-drive, so access was not an issue). Upon checking in, I found a reading lamp not working and the staff came to check and moved us to another room without delay. The room was nice, though the lake view was obstructed a bit by the parking space. The onsen facilities here are excellent. We did try both the public and private ones and absolutely loved the experience. Breakfast was good. Overall, very impressed with this hotel and what they had to offer.

Gorgeous hotel and top notch experience!”

Best hotel of our stay in Hokkaido. Hotel staff was efficient, prompt, attentive to details and warm. Made us feel so welcome despite the language barrier. Rooms were gorgeous, clean, well maintained, luxurious. Plenty of amenities, complimentary drip coffee( in VERY limited quantities), sushi/night snack, very interesting tea lounge on the 2nd floor, snacks, games... makes you want to stay on forever! Restaurant was great too! Service was impeccable, great kaiseki dinner experience. Definitely a luxurious experience that makes you yearn to return.

Very relaxing stay there. Service from the staff is excellent. The half board breakfast and dinner were excellent. The private outdoor onsen was excellent. Enjoyed it very much. Was pleased to see some snow falling on two days we were there. Do catch there shuttle bus from chitose station at 2pm...missed it and had to fork out 6680yen for the taxi ride there. Traditional ryokan with a charm.

Good location, Good food”

Location, food, staff

We stayed at the hotel for 3D2N. We were very pleased with the service by the staff and most of them can speak English well. The outdoor onsen is a must try, with view of the beautiful sunset. The hotel was a bit crowded perhaps because it was a weekend. We enjoyed our dinners and breakfasts during the stay. The hotel is located near the waterfront and we were able to see the beautiful sunset from our rooms. Very pleased with the stay. Will be back again.

Great view, clean hotel, tranquil”

Very well built with traditional Japanese elements, staff are very polite and surprisingly young. Situated right next to the lake so you can enjoy the stunning view of the lake during sun rise and sunset. If you are planning to stay longer bring along what you need as there's no convenient stores near-by, you have to drive 30mins to get to the closest town Chitose. Cigarettes and drinks vending machines inside the hotel if that's what you all need. The room is neat and tidy with a very nice view looking at the lake, there's a common room as well where you can serve yourself with hot tea. There's a big bath tub that can easily fit 2 grown-ups but it is disappointing that it can never fill up as the valve keeps opening up when the water level is ~5-6cm, and there are cracks on the sprinkler head so water keeps coming from all directions. Food is average in general and the use of disposable chopticks is a bad idea as they are too coarse. A bit expensive in general

Pros- great huge room with all ammenities. Hotel is well kept. Loved the breakfast which was so generous. My sis in law got upgraded to a room with a private onsen! The public onsen was lovely- I enjoyed it lots. Cons - view from room not exactly lake view as it’s obstructed by lovely autumn trees. Not much food options around lake shikotsu so dinner at the hotel is the only way to go!

Luxury hotel with beautiful lake nearby.”

Really comfortable, Beautiful lake within walking distance, nice onsen.

Lovely hotel, really luxurious, comfy spacious room with really comfy bed. Onsen was really nice (although the outside one was too hot to get in - way hotter than any onsen I've been in before). Lake Shikotsu was beautiful and you can see it through the trees from the hotel. Nice staff. Free lemonade when you check in! No wifi or internet as quite remote. The only thing was the food - if you're not adventurous with trying new things then don't stay here - the food is all inclusive and is Japanese delicacies. We don't like raw fish so we felt really awkward not eating a lot of the dinner and breakfast.

The hospitality, the rooms, the nature and lake around the hotel

I really enjoyed this hotel. The staff so gracious and worked hard to make our stay comfortable. The senior manager at the front desk welcomed us kindly and spoke enough English to help us. A second lady spoke fluent English and gave us an explanation for every course we ate at dinner. I really enjoyed this stay. The public baths are nice and big enough. The rooms with private onsens are really nice. Would definitely come again - the hospitality was really very memorable. Thank you!
