Great Staff, Great Location, Great Price! ”
This is the second time I've stayed at the Shimbashi Tokyu Inn and I had absolutely no problems with my stay. My key was ready and waiting for me when I checked in (although unnecessary for me, the counter staff did speak fairly good English), the room was clean and tidy, and I had a great view of Tokyo Tower from my 11th floor window. The New Tower's twin rooms are bigger than the South Tower ones (I was in the south tower) but for me and my companion (who both had large suitcases), it was manageable, if a little cozy. But, that was fine with us. The location is very convenient... about five minutes away from the Ginza Toranomon station and ten away from Shimbashi station; close enough to the stations but far away enough that you don't have the noise from the trains/busy intersection outside of Shimbashi station.
Great Price for a Great Location”
The hotel is conveniently located to a number of train stations, allowing easy access to virtually the entire city. That alone makes a trip to Shimbashi Atagoyama Tokyu Inn worthwhile. Check-in and check-out were incredibly swift and painless. The front desk clerk described my room as a “single, but big.” I felt the room was standard size for a Japanese hotel. The bathroom, though, was indeed noticeably larger. Next door is the Atago shrine and its daunting 85 stairs. We took an enjoyable trip there the next morning before heading down to Kamakura (Yes, even Kamakura is easily accessible). Tokyo Tower is a short walk away and a must-visit at night. For Tokyo, the hotel is incredibly well-priced. While not located in one of the major districts, it is still a very nice and convenient location. I will stay there again and will suggest it to anyone in need.
Great location, quiet and very clean!”
it's not too far from shimbashi train station so if you're a light packer you can just catch the train from the airport and then walk to tokyu inn. however we traveled heavy and had too many bags to stroll down the street to the hotel. our cab driver had a little difficulty finding it. i also read that on other reviews so after experiencing that we grab the hotel business card, and no other driver ever had an issue finding it. the hotel was very clean and quiet. the rooms are fairly small but i have read many hotels in tokyo are that way. that wasn't an issue with us because we spend as little time in a hotel room as possible during our vacations. the staff was friendly but spoke very little english. they helped us the best they could. vending and laundry machines right near our rooms were great. many food choices were within a mile walk. tokyo tower was about 1-2 mile walk. the imperial palace was about a 2 mile walk. cab rides to other exciting parts of tokyo were pretty short (5-15 minutes)
Great location and good accomodation”
We like this hotel very much because it is very easy to find the hotel, about 20 minutes walk from from the shinbashi Staion. Head north west, walk to the exit, and walk straight, count until the sixth trafit light and then turn left, walk about 3 minutes and look up high, you will see the hotel name " TOKYU INN " . The room although is small, but is very clean, the shower toilet most appreciated. The staffs are very friendly, even allow us to check in earlier. the staffs speaks good Englist and all service with smile. Love this hotel very much. Sure I will recommand this hotel to my friends and come back again.
good access by bus, taxi and subway ”
You can walk to the hotel from two subway stations. After leaving the suitcase at the hotel, I went out for business. After the work was done, I was in Shinbashi. Since I was exhausted, I took a cab to the hotel. To my surprise, the hotel was so close I only paid 800 yen. When I checked out the next morning, it was snowing hard and I was worried if I could find a cab. When I went outside with my suitcase, there was a bus stop in front of the hotel and there came a bus! I got it on because I didn't want to get wet with snow. It took me to Tokyo Station in 10 minutes. How conveniently this hotel is located!
Convenient hotel, great sized room & staff”
We stayed at the Shimbashi Tokyu Inn for 5 nights. The hotel is located a 10-15 walk to Shimbashi station, which is linked very well to the major underground lines, perfect for your sightseeing plans. The walk to the station passes by plenty of family marts, cafes & restaurants. The twin room was actually spacious with a good sized bathroom. All the staff were helpful and spoke English. The shuttle bus from the airport drops you at Hotel Okura (and picks you up) so you'd have to get a quick taxi ride/15 walk to Shimbashi Tokyu Inn. I would definitely stay here again as it's very good value for money.
Female”
I would recommend to stay in Tokyu Inn if you don't mind walk around ~10 min to take metro. It locates in quite and decent place, far from crazy and crowded area - which gives you a lot of comfort. Price is also satisfying - decent and spacious place to stay in Tokyo.
Great Price for long stay ”
the hotel was not hard to find, it’s located between imperial palace and old tokyo tower. not much going on in the immediate vicinity except for construction. but we feel that we got what we paid for :). the room was spacious and clean but a little dusty and the staff were very helpful as they can speak adequate english. we stayed in the main wing, the bed was big, bathroom not cramped, with various amenities provided, complimentary water, tea, coffee provided daily. and the water in the thermos was replenished daily too. if you’re an extremely light sleeper, the noise from the road might bother you. i’m a light sleeper too but it didn’t bother me. the tv has 1 english channel (cnn), just follow the instruction on how to operate the remote. the lights are remote operated. all the lights go out (as opposed to what has been written below that the key should be removed from the key-slot first). as has been said, it is about 10 minutes away from 3 different subway lines. if you don’t want to walk, just step on a bus in front of the hotel and you’ll be in tokyo station jr line in about 15 minutes. for the subway, if you’re taking the hibiya line, the route through the tunnel (very well-lit, don’t worry) then through the restaurants is the shortest. hibiya park, about 15 minutes away by walk and 10 minutes by bus, is worth spending some time in to reflect or just enjoy nature or, like us, have a brunch. cons: for some reason, the air conditioner can only go as low as 20-degree celsius. the water in the shower is not stable, becomes hot/cold at will.
Comfortable hotel, near Metro train station”
The nearest JR station is shimbashi. But it is still far away, 30mins form JR station to the hotel when you have baggage. Metro stations are much more closer. Location is quite, unless you go to shimbashi(15-20 mins on foot) Many restaurants near JR shimbashi. I go to Tokyo Tower with my father from the hotel on mid autumn festival. It takes 20 mins on foot. You may plan night visit Tokyo tower, after all of your day time activities. Tokyo Tower at night is wonderful. Room is comfortable and size is ok.
Nice service hotel”
Very clean hotel, nice and polite staff. Tokyu inn is close to Metro making it convinient to travel, walking distance to Tokyo tower. Chose it based on a very reasonable price and its proximity to several subway stations.. As with many less expensive Hotels in Asia the room was on the small side but this was made up for by absolute cleanliness.
Good location with numerous food places around.”
stayed 4d 3n at the standard twin room. the room is about 22sq/m which is roughly twice the size of the standard twin rooms you will get from other hotels of the same value. free wifi internet connection "freespot" is only available at the lobby. wired internet connection is available in the room. the staff has a good understanding of english so conversing won't be much of an issue. it was a nice and pleasant place to stay. looking forward to staying at this hotel again the next time i stop by at tokyo.
Great value for money”
Hotel was very conveniently located - 10 mins walk to JR Shinbashi station, 10 mins walk from Zozoji Temple and 15mins walk from the Imperial Palace. The staff spoke fairly good English. The rooms were great value for money considering how expensive Japanese hotels usually are.
Good location and great view ”
it was probably our lucky day as we were given a room on the 12th floor overlooking the tokyo tower. we were so thrilled! room is small but the same for other hotels we stayed in tokyo. it's clean, tidy and has all the amenities normally needed thus we find it all good. check-in procedures for this hotel and others we stayed in tokyo are a brisk as in check-out. hotel is a convenient location to visit tokyo tower.
Simple, Elegant and value for money”
hi, i had a pleasant stay at tokyo inn. the hotel was definitely of good standard, the rooms were clean, service was very prompt and the staffs were friendly. if you are looking for a place that's not overly priced and yet with reasonable comforts, this is ideal. i found the room (double bed) to be a bit too small. though it's located in a very busy area of the city, to reach the subways for trains(shimbashi, onarimon, toronomon and kamiyachi stations)it take a good 15-20 mins walk. i guess onarimon and kamiyachi are the nearest ones. i will recommend this place for anyone who's not too fussy about luxuries.
Great Value Hotel where staff spoke good English”
I was travelling with young children and found it too far to walk to the JR Yamamote Line Shimbashi Station. It was easier to use the Tokyo Subway lines(Hibiyia Line)as the stations were nearer to the hotel. However, as these were underground so it was confusing when finding the right exits to street level. Hotel was excellent value, clean, kettle, fridge and ironing board, iron provided. To get English CableTV like CNN, you need to buy a JPY1000 card which is valid for only one day but it comes with free English movies. The Room TV only had local Japanese channels available.
An average hotel in a less than ideal location”
I was in tokyo on a four day trip with some friends. We were mainly sightseeing, enjoying japanese food, exploring nice neighborhoods and cool cafés and of course, partying. We chose Shimbashi Atogoyama Tokyu Inn because of price more than anything else. The rooms are standard japanese tiny (single bed, small desk, small bathroom, with a little room to walk around the bed/desk). The rooms are clean and completely acceptable, just not "nice". They did not have a non-smoking room for me upon arrival but were able to change it on day 2. I did not use any of the hotel features like restaurant or common areas. The staff is friendly and all in all the experience and value for money was reasonably good. I think for the price we paid, it is comparably nice. The location is less than ideal -- but not terrible. The area is fine, and it is walkable to a major metro station -- 15+ minutes from the Shimbashi station which has a train directly from Narita, and is on two Tokyo Metro lines as well as the JR Yamanote line. Even though the walk is through a nice neighborhood, by the 4th day of our trip we were tired of the 15-20 minutes it took from the station to the hotel and wish we had chosen something closer to a station, any station. We also spent most of our time in the Shibuya/Omotesando/Harajuku/Meguro areas and would have benefited from something closer to that area. When out late at night, the metro is closed, so you have to take a taxi which is around 2500yen from Shibuya. But hey, it's Tokyo. It's an incredible city, but it's really, really expensive. So if you are trying to save money, you're going to make sacrifices.
Good location - good fare”
we had a so called superior room so it was a bit bigger than the usual tiny japan rooms. the price was correct. it is within walking distance from many sites. 15 min from tokyo tower, 20 minutes from emperor's garden, 10 minutes from shinbashi jr station. the hotel was exceptionnaly loud because of works in progress right on the street below. japanese seem to work all night long with very noisy machines! beware!
Nice hotel”
Nice clean hotel chain. Rooms are nice and big enough compare to Japanese standards. Rooms can be a bit pricey at times but I got in on sale from Agoda so that's great. Breafast at this hotel is expensive so eat outside. One train stop away from roppongi on by kamiyacho station. Two stops away from Ginza by Toranomon station. 10 mins walk from Tokyo tower and according to which room you get you can see the tower from your window. Very good hotel and I would stay here again.
Good breakfast spread”
This hotel had a larger than average room for Tokyo. The staff was pleasant, cleanliness was almost a 10 (there was one strand of hair on the shower wall when I checked in), and they supplied the room with bottled water every day. Everything worked and there were enough plugs around the room. I loved their breakfast spread. It had a great mix of both Japanese and western food, and everything was delicious.
Near Office Area of Toranomon”
Near Toranomon, where there is office area. For me, it is witin walking distance from Subway Toranomon and JR Shinbashi. Not too crowded.
