We had a large group - two rooms - although we booked different types of rooms we were given two identical rooms, which was weird. It is clean and they were VERY helpful - although pretty far from downtown Siem Reap it was easy to get around with tuktuks (the hotel would call them for us if we left from there).
I LOVED my stay here!”
The grand proportions of the architecture, beautiful woodwork, comfortable bed in conjunction with gracious and helpful staff made this place work out uncommonly well for my Angkor adventure. The tuk-tuk driver and front desk set up with me my agenda each day and he offered me bonus sight seeing as it occurred to him other things I might like once he got to know my interests. His English was minimal yet we did ok with gesturing. Wonderful stay!
Wonderful time at Siem Reap”
Shining Angkor is ta the centre of everything in Siem Reap; close to the city, Angkor Wat, bus station and airport as well.. the room is beautiful clean and tidy..love love the toilet area spacious and clean.. the staff is friendly and helpful especially a girl called Kimsak really made as feel like home.. very accomodating and warm.. she is an example of how hotel staff should act like.. patience and passion with her work.. highly recommend this boutique hotel
Great Boutique hotel with easy access to the Angkor area”
Clean and decent sized room, power points weren't close to the beds which was a little annoying. Great spot in between Angkor and the city - meant we got to sleep in a little longer before sunrise than if we stayed right in Siem Reap. Pool looked nice but we didn't use it. Staff were great, when we got back after our day out at the temples we could have used the shower near the pool to tidy up (as we had checked out that morning), but we also wanted a nap so they let us use a room for a few hours for $15 US which was heaven (also considering we got soaked with rain in the afternoon was nice to have an actual room to use for showers / nap and finding dry clothes!
Great hotel. Was able to get a driver easily to go to angkor wat for a day. Was picked up and dropped off at the airport very easily; our driver was so friendly and amazing. Restaurant is great. The staff overall is amazing and friendly. Had a short stay but would definitely stay again next time I visit.
Serene, Relaxing and Soothing Experience”
We stayed for two nights and it was a relaxing experience. It is definitely a perfect hotel if you’re looking for a peaceful and quiet place to stay. At the same time the location is just right because it is closer to their downtown and not so far from the temples. Also, their food were very appetizing and delicious. Further, the staffs were attentive and friendly. The internet access is fairly fast as well. :-)
value for money”
Very nice decoration and strong air-conditioning (a must when it's 39C outside). Despite being far from town, the hotel provides free tuk-tuk rides into the market and it was only US$2 for rides back to the hotel. Given how load and noisy the market was, the peace and quiet of the hotel was most welcomed. On the other hand, the menu at the restaurant was somewhat limited and service was rather slow (it took about 30 minutes every morning for them to prepare eggs and toast)
Friendly and helpful staff”
rooms are very clean, comfortable and affordable. staff are very friendly and informative. breakfast quite limited and only limited to 1 set per guest. location is very near angkorwat, about 3minutes drive, 5-10 minutes walk.
Beautiful place, staff was very helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and had all the comforts. Shower temperature and water pressure was more than perfect. They picked us up from the airport and also helped us find tuktuks as often as we needed them - even early before the race. I would certainly stay here again. The breakfast was good and the coffee was hot.
great staff and location”
Mr Three we will miss you!!! thank you so much for your kindness and smiles. Thank you to all the young ladies who kept the place smelling so good and clean. you are all so wonderful, beautiful and hard working. we enjoyed our stay. this place is very homey. i kept calling it home. pro. clean great location; minutes from airport, AW and Pub st. great A/C hard working and very friendly and polite staff. they deserve tips and every bit of pay. cons. watch out for lizards inside and outside. even rooms. always check sheets and clothing for them and other things like bugs and insects because they can come in from outside. the staff does a good job and cleaning and keeping them out so no deal breaker. water is rusty conclusion. overall a good stay, definitely areas that needs work but it was worth it. they staff was very engaging and respectful and made us feel welcome all the time.
Good place to stay close to Angkor wat”
Very Close to Angkor Wat. You can easily get a tuk tuk to the city center in the evening. We had problem with AC not functioning properly in one of the rooms for couple of days and the room was warm. We complained to manager who fixed it on the third day. The credit card machine was not working when we wanted to make the payment for rooms on arrival and the manager suggested we pay cash. But we weren't carrying enough cash with us since we planned to pay cash only for food and shopping around the city . We also did not want to use the ATMs on the streets since that would charge us for each withdrawal. We insisted on paying through credit card as confirmed during booking online. The manager managed to get the credit card machine fixed in a couple of days and we paid using credit card. It looks like the credit card machine not working is a problem throughout Siem Reap. Most shops and restaurants said the same thing. Ensure you carry enough cash or are open to withdraw from the atm.
friendly and honest staff
Travel in Time ”
Modern accommodation filled with Kymer carvings creates antique atmosphere. Very polite staff. Fresh cooked food. Big servings Good veggies and fruit. Tasty but I prefer spiecer. Great tuk tuk driver to/from airport and touring at Angor Wat. Closest hotel to Angor Wat. No traffic. AC and lighting just right.
Value for Money, Decent stay at an affordable price”
I was here during off peak season, there were plenty of rooms available. The staffs were very courteous and friendly. A lady staff during the day and a male staff during the night , both were very friendly. The hotel offers you tuk tuk ride for a price and the tuk tuk driver was also professional and courteous. He charged 4 dollars for visit to town and was generous to wait even for 1 hour. All in all my stay was fabulous would recommend anyone to be here. It’s a boutique hotel, don’t expect 5 star facilities.
I enjoyed my stay here. 4D 3N. The staffs were very helpful. It’s a bit far from the town. But you can always get the receptionist or Mr. Kong (the place owner) to contact their Tuk Tuk guy, Bunna. Bunna was very helpful and suggested places to eat, visit and also on time. The room was clean. The staffs were friendly. Value for money. Definitely will stay here again if I plan to go Siem Reap. ☺️
A good value quiet hotel”
The Shining Angkor Boutique is small enough that it feels like home but big enough to have facilities like a pool, small restaurant and tours can be organised without ripping you off or sending you to the over touristy places. The staff are very helpful and smiley. The decor is traditional with lovely wooden furniture and carvings. I would be pleased to stay again if in the area.
Convenient and comfortable”
This is a wonderful base to stay in Siem Reap as it is right in between the city AND the temples. Best of both worlds! The hotel is less than a ten minute drive away from the Angkor Wat complex (which makes getting to Angkor Wat before sunrise SO much easier). Staff were super friendly and always greeted us with a smile. Mr Kong Mony was always very helpful in organising tuk tuk rides and airport transfers for us. He would drive us to pub street every night for $2. Rooms are very clean and provide basic amenities. This is great for travellers who are merely looking for a comfortable and clean place to sleep after a day's adventure.
We stayed there for 3 nights with my husband. It's a nice hotel. It is 3 star so obviously its not a super fancy place but it was very clean, quiet, no bugs/mosquitos and close to the city and Angkor Wat which was important to us. Tuk Tuk picked us up from the airport free of charge and we booked tours from them. Ride to the city takes about 10 mins and it's $ 3 usd. Really good value for money. I would stay there again.
Good hotel, unimpressive staff”
We really liked the quality of this place, the location & value for money, but I think the staff was rather curt & challenging to communicate with from the get go. We were especially frustrated by the confusion surrounding or airport pickup. After sending several emails through the agoda website & never hearing back from the hotel, I finally sent a follow up email With our flight time and info, received an email Stating that I would be picked up free of charge & then nibody ever showed up & we had to take a cab to the hotel ourselves. After trying to explain our frustration to three different employees throughout the course of our stay, we were repeatedly told that it was our fault because we never sent the flight info. This is not true & I have the emails to prove it. So overally it's a nice place, but do not depend on them to communicate with you before your arrival or to follow through on airport transfer
Great rooms, great location for the temples”
The rooms were a good size with ensuite bathrooms. My 3 grown-up children shared a triple room which was a good size for them. Lots of beautiful carved wooden decor everywhere gave this hotel a 'boutique' feel.
