Great experience!”

The experience, amenities & location

Everyone should try the capsule hotel experience at least one night when visiting Japan. So did I and picked this hotel based on the reviews on Agoda and couldn't be happier! The hotel is located in a 8 story building in Kabukicho, Shinjuku and it's very easy to get there. The reception is in floor 3, a common area for men & women with kitchen, restaurants, vending machines and internet café is located in floor 4. Floor 5 is used for day use capsules while the night capsules for men are located in floors 6 & 7. Women can stay in floor 8, separated from men. Staff was super nice and welcoming (contrary to some opinions here), they tried to help me from the very beginning and the people I talked to spoke fairly good English. Although customers are assigned a small locker with enough space to leave the clothes in a changing room, bigger luggage can be stored on some shelves present in both the changing room and in front of the reception. Don't be scared of leaving your items there, this is Japan and everybody respects your belongings. The place is clean and the capsule is much bigger than pictured!! Inside there is a control panel for the light, alarm, air conditioner and television, a power socket and a mirror along with the pillow and a duvet. All capsules have a curtain than can be opened/closed for privacy and but beware that some noises can come inside if other guests speak loudly (usually don't). The hotel also has a traditional Japanese bath (onsen) and sauna. Don't forget to try it before you leave! Checkout time is at 10 am and luggage cannot be stored after checking out. I had a great experience at Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel and will definitely come back in my next trip to Tokyo.

Clean, comfortable and value for money

I stayed a couple of capsule during my trip to Tokyo. By comparing to other capsule, Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae did a very job. The facilities in the capsule were good. The public bath facilities were sufficient to accommodate the customers and the choice of the showering facilities were in good quality. The showering amenities were in good quality and available for all. The capsule was clean and quiet for you to have a good rest.

Best capsule hotel by far.”

Incredibly cheap and yet this capsule hotel had all the amenities: clean showers, an actual leisure room, vending machines, microwave, laundry etc.

Having stayed at three different capsule hotels during my trip to Japan, I can easily say that Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae was the best. They were the best not only in price, but also in terms of the services (and quality thereof) they provided. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a cheap place to stay while in Tokyo.

Good experience!”

It was my first time to stay in a capsule and I was pretty satisfied with the experience. I stayed in the all female floor, which had a security lock - a plus in my book. Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae was very clean too. Especially the bathrooms, which again, is a big plus for me. I did have a hard time with my belongings because I'm used to just putting my things around my hotel room. Other than this, I would definitely consider staying at this capsule again :)

my first time in a capsule hotel”

Multilingual staff greeted me at the reception counter and gave me a quick overview of the facilities. I have visible tattoos and was politely advised to cover up in the bathing area around other hotel guests, which were largely other Japanese. This was not an issue for me (I am already familiar with Japanese policies towards tattoos), despite being *heavily* tattooed on my entire abdomen and back/torso - mostly thanks to the fact that the provided pajamas did most of the covering for me. The capsule itself was rather spacious and had a small nightstand-type shelf, dimmable light, alarm, and tv inside. The next night I stayed in a lower-cost nearby guest house, which didn't have all these amenities, but I also think the guest house was more geared towards foreign tourists on a budget. Guest house or capsule, both places afforded me a place to shower and rest in privacy. I was very pleased to have stayed here at Capsule Kuyakusho-mae and experience its sensible hospitality.

Great capsule experience, even for longer stay!”

I stayed at this capsule hotel with my partner for 2 weeks in October 2016. We have stayed in Shinjuku before as it is a great central location with train links in and around Tokyo, and this hotel is about 5-8mins walk from the station. On arrival in Shinjuku, we found the hotel easily with the help of a printed google map. It is a little hidden away if you don't know where you are looking so make sure you scope it out on google maps before hand and pick up on other landmarks around it. I have to say I had my reservations about staying in a capsule hotel for 2 weeks as it was completely new territory for me, but I shouldn't have been worried at all as it was a great experience. All I would say is research where you are staying before hand as capsule hotels have rules that you need to abide by. My experience is only of the womens floor and communal area so I cannot speak for the mens area, but my partner was on the mens floors and said that they were just as good. The only thing that surprised him was the communal washing area which is like a Japanese onsen, where you wash naked in front of everybody else... The staff at the Kuyakushomae capsule hotel where very welcoming and spoke great English. On arrival the gentleman who greeted me took my name. I had had a pocket wifi delivered here which he handed me straight away. They were clear on everything from the get go and explained everything fully. Shoes are kept in a small locker on the 3rd floor by reception, and the key for this locker you will hand over to the reception team at check in which they will exchange for your locker key. Check out is daily at 10am, you have a locker supplied and the number of your locker is also the number of your capsule. Inside the locker will be your jinbei and towels. As I am a women, I was staying on the 8th floor which has a keypad on the door with a code that will change every so often for safety. They will hand you the code at check in which you must keep private. Yo

Best capsule that I stayed in. Best facilities.”

Facilities very good/Hotel very well organized, Wifi very good inside the capsule, Location right in the middle of Shinjuku.

- This is a big capsule hotel, so the facilities are better than others. The hotel also has good system and very well organized. All staffs can speak good English and quite helpful. - I stayed in 3 hostels or capsules during this trip. This is the only one that WIFI actually works in bed. - Located less than 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station. Can walk around Shinjuku at night. - Locker bigger than other capsule hotels - Everything e.g. towels, pajamas, toothbrush with toothpaste, is provided. You can really travel light. - Easy to get to the airport with pre-booked JR Narita Express line. However may not be easy to get from the airport to Shinjuku Station since this train line has to be pre-booked with fixed time. - Out of the 3 hostels/capsules that I stayed in, I like this one the best and will most likely pick this one if I go to Tokyo again.

Superb experience for a solo traveler”

Everything!

I was traveling solo with really tight schedule and stayed there for 6 nights. This was my first time in real authentic Japanese capsule hotel and it was incredible! Pros: + Great authentic capsule experience. Despite lack of door (curtain only) you feel that you have your own private space when you're inside the capsule. + There's controllable light in the capsule, one AC socket, alarm clock, small shelf and a TV with some channels. There's even a free p*rn channel! (press BAND) + Spa section was so great after a long hot walking day! There's everything you can expect from a typical spa: sauna, showers, baths with cold and hot water, bath with water massage, disposable razors, toothbrushes and etc. + Lounge section is really nice. It has everything you need for a relaxation, even vending machines with beer and cup noodles. + Locker is not so big, my backpack nearly got in, but was enough. If you have big luggage you can put it on the shelf and leave it there even when you check out, but all responsibility is upon you. + Very clean. (Cons): - You have to check-out by 10AM everyday even if you stay multiple nights. You can check-in again only from 4PM. For me with my tight schedule that was not a problem. This is just how their system works, you should understand this. - There's a lot of comments about rude staff (especially some old guy) but I believe this is the clients to blame, not the staff. For me they did a pretty decent service and explained how to use the hotel. The only thing that was "rude" to me is that once when I spoke to that "old guy" in Japanese he kept answering to me in English :) - If someone snores or speaks in a capsule somewhere near you - you will hear it. Rooms, lounge, toilets - everything is common. You should just accept this if you want to book a capsule. - There's a thin mattress in the capsule so the bottom is a little bit hard when you sleep, but I got used to it. I recommend everyone to try capsule hotel at least once!

Best capsule hotel stayed in”

Cleanliness, amenities, location

Difficult to find but once you have found it it isn't too difficult to find again. The best capsule hotel that I stayed at in Japan. It was so clean and convenient - the staff service was so fast, there was everything you could need in terms of toiletries, nightwear, vending machines, everything you could think of was provided. Unlike some places in Japan it wasn't too hot, the toilets came with the usual gadgets, lovely showers and powder room. Comfort bed even if it was a little thin. Good-sized locker. Chinese restaurant located downstairs but there is so much choice in Shinjuku that it is worth looking around. It is in a great location in Shinjuku and is surprisingly quiet too! Definitely would stay there again. The only downside is that there is no facility for keeping your bags during the day and you are promptly required to check-out by 10am. If you get there early, large lockers are available in Shinjuku station for 700 yen a day, but these get more difficult to find as the morning goes on due to being taken.

Comfortable stay despite capsule size 'room'”

Value for money, small but comfortable, location

It was my second time at this capsule hotel, the location is good if you want to stay in Shinjuku and its great value for money in Tokyo. Despite only having a capsule size 'room', the stay was again very comfortable. It's quiet at night as everyone is very respectful and the capsule and bathroom incl a small sauna are clean. They provide towels, have free wifi and there is a lounge area. They have beverage vending machines and charging stations for phones. Please keep in mind though that everyone has to check out every morning, no staying during the day. There are convinient 24 hours food places and stores close by.

Great onsen experience”

I booked this place because I saw it had an onsen/open hot bath. The onsen is quite big and can fit more than a one or two dozen people. It's mostly Japanese who stay here and I'd avoid the morning 8-9 am rush as all of them will be using the bath area which is shared by the onsen. However, during the evening it's a great place to be. Like most capsule hotels, you cannot leave your stuff inside the locker even if you are staying for several nights. You need to bring your stuff with you when you leave in the morning. Check-out time is 11 am. The capsule itself was on the smaller side so anyone bigger than 5'8" may find it stuffy. The bed was fairly thick and comfortable, but the capsule itself is a bit outdated. It still has a CRT TV built-in. There's a large common area with tables, chairs, recliners with plenty of power outlets. The wifi is fast and there are vending machines in the common area so you can hang out here if you're not ready for bed yet. The common area is a plus since other capsule hotels I've been to don't have a common area like this. Had a good stay overall and would come back for the onsen and common area which puts it above other capsule hotels. Only thing I didn't like was the location. It was hard to find. Other than that, location in Shinjuku is great.

Great place to try out a capsule hotel”

Great location, clean, quiet, affordable

I landed in Tokyo late at night so I didn't want to spend too much money on a half a night's stay. I chose this capsule hotel because you can get from Haneda airport straight to Shinjuku Sta. and it's only 5-10 minutes walk from there. You shouldn't expect too much from a capsule hotel because it is meant to be quite 'no-frills'. But surprisingly my stay was pleasant, the hotel in general was clean (including the toilets and baths), and the capsules, though small as it should be, was comfy enough to sleep in. You will be given a locker room, but the locker isn't that big. Bigger bags can be kept in a storage bag facility at the reception counter. The checkout time is pretty strict as well (10 am) and for each hour, you will be charged JPY600 (If I recall correctly). So do make sure you get out of bed early. The cons would be that it is located in the red light district of Tokyo. That said, Tokyo's red light district isn't as dodgy or dangerous-feeling as other places in the world. There will be touts trying to offer you 'services' but a respectful 'No, thank you.' did suffice for me. The capsule hotel isn't too easy to find as it was located on the third floor of a building block, but it wasn't too hard either. I asked a local in broken Japanese and he was able to tell me how to get there. All in all, a good experience into the capsule hotel type of accomodation and if I had only hours to burn on a night's stay in Tokyo, I wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

Affordable and great location!”

Close to Shinjuku station with very friendly staff.

I've stayed in Tokyo many times, but this was my first time to stay in a capsule hotel. I arrived to check in and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I had a large suitcase which did not fit into my locker and so they kindly were able to keep it in a private room at reception. The capsules were clean and comfortable with a TV, lamp, radio, alarm and mirror. I was a little worried about the size - I am 181cm tall but I was just able to fit comfortably. I really enjoying staying in Shinjuku when I visit Tokyo and I will definitely stay here again, considering the price and location.

Capsule hotel that has floor for women”

Very clean, comfortable, and safe. Very close to regular subway (5 minutes) but about 15-20 minutes from main Shinjuku station with JR lines, airport lines, and airport bus (express bus terminal).. We booked here for the capsule experience and that it takes women, but also for closeness to airport transport based on reviews. However, be aware the close one is the private subway line. It it still not too far to get to Shinjuku East or South entrance for airport transport, but definitely much more of a walk with luggage. However, even that was not too bad as everything in Tokyo and Japan is well run and organized and everyone is so courteous, Definitely recommend!

Good hotel for solo traveler or male friends group”

Cleanliness and convenience

Location and cleanliness are the best thing about this hotel. Only a short walk to Shinjuku JR and Metro station. Most guests are young Japanese college students and office workers who visit Tokyo for a short period so guests' behavior is very good, clean, quiet and polite. Capsule bed is not that small and very comfort. Common bathroom is in Japanese style (you have to get naked and take a bath with others) with attached sauna, it's a very good relaxation when you get used to it. Everything is provided; hotel guest cloths, comb, toothbrush, shampoo, soap, lotion, hair gel, etc. You don't even have to bring your own. The cons is that there's only small space to store your luggage and belongings. It's might not suitable for shopping travelers.

First capsule experience”

I'd never stayed in a capsule hotel before, but I was visiting Tokyo for the first time by myself (second time in general). I think this is great for solo travelers and those travelling on a budget. Very clean. Note you must leave the hotel between 10am-4pm regardless of youre staying consecutive nights. If you're someone travelling on a budget that doesn't mind no frills, this is the place for you. The staff are friendly and everything is very organized. You deposit your shoes in a locker and give it to the desk upon check in. The provide you with a different key for a locker. You place your things in the locker, and put on the supplied robe. The shower facilities here are shared (not private) but are separate men from women. You scrub yourself in the shower before getting into the onsen. I was surprised to see the capsles dont have a door, yet a curtain which you pull down for privacy. There are cameras all over for security, and signs requesting others to be quiet, but you'll definitely need earplugs and an eye mask because not everyone is quite as they should be. The capsule also doesn't have a fan or A/C so you might have to leave the curtain open a little for proper air circulation. The bed was good enough (just a small mat rolled down), but the pillow was... Uh.. Well let's just say I didn't use it. Being as sleep deprived as I was - with an eye mask and ear plugs I had a great undisturbed sleep.

Central location, very walkable to everything in the area. The place was a bit difficult to find as it was dark and raining. The sign is small and posted on the building's floor directory board. Just look out for a British Pub and the building will have a bull horn on it if you look up *check the photos*. Upon entrance, you must remove your shoes and place them into a shoe locker. A key secures them while you are using the locker. Check in was easy as I simply provided my name and they confirmed everything. For females, the floor is on the 8th level with showers, lockers and capsules. This is a females only floor. There is only ONE elevator that services the hotel so it can get crowded especially during peak times. Upon arrival at the 8th floor, there is a door that secures the floor for female guests with a passcode provided at the desk. Lockers are small. They will not fit your luggage. I used my locker to hold my coat and other small belongings. There is a shelf inside the locker room as well as at the entrance past the secured door to store your luggage so please remember to bring a lock with you. Inside the locker, you're provided with: 1 body towel, 1 face/hair towel, a set of night clothing and slippers as well as a couple hangers. Other amenities are provided in the washroom which are: tissues, cotton swabs, cotton pads, hair dryer, toothbrushes, lotions, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, body washes.
