quite and tranquil environment”
vicinity, quiet and closeby to station
Hakuunro is located very close to the station, it is located at the "hotel street" of yudanaka with every other ryokan+onsens are located it is literally just down the road from the station walk down by the alley way to a shrine in the junction and the hotels are just there. Ryokan is a traditional japanese hotel that mimics local houses with tatami floors and onsen is hot spring from the mountains Yudanaka is a popular hot spring destination with many hotels there offers onsen or ofuro ( hot bath house ) Hakuunro room is large with many sunlight, very rustic and charming interior. Clean rooms with separate sun room and balcony. our room is at level 3 and the ofuro is at level 1 please be informed that check in time is at 3pm as they do not normally allow anyone to check in before 1pm. the staff speak no english whatsoever. this was very challenging as the staff seemed very nice to us and tried to tell us things to do in Yudanaka. and do ask for breakfast as the options for restaurant in yudanaka is very limited. most of the hotels do offer breakfast which we didn't take and we felt that we missed out. when in yudanaka take your time to walk around the snowy area and try the onsens if you are traveling in winter and of course the snow monkeys park at jigokudani.

Delightful traditional Japanese hotel.”
lovely atmosphere, helpful staff, great location
traditional japanese hotel with room with futons and lovely balcony overlooking small japanese courtyard garden. wonderful facilities - lovely onsen and lounge with warm fire and tea. there was absolutely everything we could need or more. breakfast spread was amazing - but all very traditional japanese. location is extremely handy just a minute's walk to the station, supermarket and restaurant for dinner. the hotel host did not speak english at all but was delightfully friendly and helpful and telephoned a friend to come over to translate for us. he helped us to find out about how to get to the snow monkeys and get the tickets for the tourist bus. he couldn't have been lovelier or more helpful. this was my favourite hotel of all of our stays in japan!
