Clean, friendly, accessible, quiet”

This was a very clean hostel, and the staff was so friendly! It's easy enough to get to, either 15 minutes walking or a short transfer away from Kyoto Station. The neighborhood is pretty quiet.

Clean and easy to use.”

Very close to Gojo station. The staff are friendly and the facilities are clean and easy to use. There are many convenience stores, supermarkets (with cheap food), and restaurants nearby, so you won't have any trouble during your stay. If you go to Kyoto Station or Shijo Station, there are even more options. Personally, I think the location is great for taking a walk at night or getting some exercise by walking to Kyoto Station or Shijo Station.

Staffs was funny.”

Staffs brightened up the atmosphere. It was so funny. Of course, they keep rooms clean. It's enough to cook something. Coffee was good.

Youth hostel with affordable price and convenient location”

The bed is not small, and there is space to put luggage beside it for organization. The bed frame is also sturdy, and the upper bunk does not shake much when someone climbs up. The bathroom and toilet are both very clean and well-equipped, and the staff frequently maintain cleanliness. The kitchen has tea bags and coffee powder for self-service, and guests can also cook. The only downside is that the lounge is a bit small and can sometimes be crowded. The staff are all very friendly and provide good service. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from Kyoto Station, and the entrance to the subway Karasuma Line is just outside the alley. It is also about a 15-minute walk to Shijo, so the location is quite convenient. If you are a traveler who comes and goes early and late, this is a great place to take a shower and sleep.

Small and beautiful, self-travel is very convenient”

About 3 minutes' walk from the subway entrance, about 5 minutes from 711, and about 7-10 minutes from Freso supermarket. The bathroom has a small and a large room (with a bathtub). The washing machine costs 200 yen per use (with free laundry detergent), and the dryer costs 100 yen for 20 minutes. I paid 200 yen for 40 minutes of drying, but the clothes were not completely dry. There is a simple kitchen (with an oven, microwave, refrigerator, and electric kettle), Japanese tea bags, instant coffee powder, milk powder, and sugar. There is a small lounge, TV, magazines, and comics.

The bed is long and spacious, making it very comfortable to stay in. Although the exterior of the hotel is unremarkable, the interior decoration is beautiful.

Good location, cheap price but they will charge you if you want a towel to use. Beds very uncomfortable and worn out. So you get what you pay for.

Highly Recommended”

Great location, friendly staff, nice amenities

Shiori-an is a 10-15 minute walk from the train station, which means you've got easy access to public transportation around the city. It's also right off of a major street, so finding restaurants (and your bearings) up and down the road is simple. The place is clean, the dorm bunks have curtains for privacy, and the hostel also has a washing machine, community lounge, and kitchen. All the staff members I spoke to were friendly and helpful, and spoke English well. I'd recommend taking advantage of the bike rentals (500 yen per day). Perfect if you'd like a good night's sleep in a nice, inexpensive place in a pleasant part of the city.

My memorable stay at Shiori-an”

This place is walking distance from Kyoto station. Very conducive and staff is accommodating. Maduka is very friendly and helpful. The staff speaks good English so there will be no communication barriers with foreigners. Looking forward to stay at Shiori-an sometime in Autumn of 2016.

Rather good”

What I really love about Shiori-Ann is her kitchen with full of equipment. The guests are also fun to talk with and I have an excellent Melbourne mate who is also a vegan like me. What I don't like about is the sound-proofing. Some guests are really heavy-footed but it's none of what the hostel could do. Maybe you should put a sign "light-footed, please" somewhere? And I don't know why I got bed bugs bites all of my body after 6 nights there huhu.

Heartful and helpful staff”

I just add: with sense of humour So I experienced these three qualities in staff: heartfulness, helpfulness and sense of humour. Very light critic about the location: you could explain that the best way is to choose exit 6 at Gojo Station, take the elevator, turn right, walk some meters, and turn right again, some more meters (at least 10! maybe 20 or 30!!!) and Shiori-an on the left. Would I have known, about 40 or 50 minutes of errance under the heavy rain would have been spared to me and to my luggage!

Exceptional”

It's comfortable with a kitchen. I really liked the common area. The dorms were fine but not the best. The beds are fine but I would have liked a more comfortable bed and pillow. It's nice to have the kitchen, free coffee and a group cleaning each day. I did notice once that before the group came in at 11:00 the common room and kitchen were dirty. It was just once but it would have helped if the staff working at the time just went through the area quickly to clean it. At that time many prepare food and eat breakfast. I don't expect guesthouses to be clean all the time but it's hard to eat like this. Otherwise there were no problems. The guests are all talkative and friendly. Some stay in the common area and talk late. I liked having a washer and dryer always available. The price during the August holiday was a little high. (2450) Afterwards it went down to 800-1000. I liked the atmosphere and location. It's easy to walk to Gion or Kyoto station. Thanks for providing a nice place.
