Above average
To call it "hotel" is very keen: there are some pure equipped cabins. But on the other side: What do you expect for 20 Euro a night, even in India? It was so deserted that we decided to take another hotel.

Everything was falli g to pieces
Nothing worked. The light switches are hanging out of the wall, half the light bulbs are fused, the linen dirty and torn, and there were big holes in the mattresses. In addition, the whole placehad a thick fun of dust.

Good stay but worst staff and services
Got to this place..Resort was nice. rooms were good. But, no one responsible staff at reception..restaurant was there but cook was not there.. We were made to go out for dinner at night hours.. Worst services regarding food. Same happened at breakfast hours next morning.. No one was there to prepare breakfast (which was included in hotel cost). No specific reply about hotel cook availability to person (younger staff)..

Location, it's potential
Often, a lacklustre place is saved by it's owners, staff and services offered. Not so with Shivika Lake. This was the worst place we stayed in during our 8 week trip. We chose to stay here primarily for the location, but also for the promoted swimming pool, bicycles on hire and treks offered. Yes, the location is good, but, The swimming pool has been filled in and there are neither bicycles or treks on offer. I think we stayed in room 2. It was ok (but check cleanliness of sheets), and is a cottage. The attached bathroom was passable, but you have to order hot water as a fire needs to be lit to heat it. The resulting water is gloriously hot and plentiful. The open outflow for the toilet is a mere 2 metres away down the slope behind the cottages. The place was very quiet when we visited, mainly because not one single other guest was there. The main shortfall of this place is the owners: they are disinterested, rude, very often absent and have absolutely no idea about hospitality. The food was meagre, poor quality and the whole dining experience was miserable: we managed a lunch, dinner and breakfast (all of which were farcical) before learning the error of our ways and eating elsewhere. Sadly, we could not move out of our room as we had booked and paid through Agoda before arriving. The dining room is dark and dirty (our dinner place had not been cleared when we went for breakfast, there are mice running around and everything is covered in dust and grime). The owner is not ashamed to be heard repeatedly shouting at anyone who displeased her, including her child. Apart from the Government place, this is the closest hotel to the temple, but Roopam next door is only 50metres further, offers welcoming staff, decent staff and has a range of rooms. Go there!

Excellent Location!! Lousy Staff
location, rooms, ambience
Stay was good...came out with mixed feelings...excellent place to stay as a getaway retreat amidst the jungle...but highly understaffed (we found only 3!!)and a totally LOUSY staff!! Food is made to order but that depends on your luck with the staff (whenever they are sober enough to listen to you)...they get drunk in the night and then forget there are guests who are waiting for food!! A french couple in the hotel had to go without dinner during one of the days of our stay...U can of course eat at another hotel next door...no non-veg...no eggs on saturdays and mondays...seems the owner is more bothered about customs rather than guests' comfort...some of the rooms are excellent but some are equally lousy!! lovely ambience within the premises...QUAINT in one word...

Avoid
When we arrived there was no electricity, our room was incredibly damp with mould growing under the bedsheets, we checked a few and this was the least disgusting room. Theres no restaurant, no wifi, but thankfully there was enough phone signal to arrange getting out as soon as possible! I would avoid staying here again at all costs.

Expensive, No water No wifi
Silent at night
Do not book this Hotel by agoda. Book on arrivel. It costs only the half Price. And you can be shure to get a room, because it`s emty. Hotel and dusty garden are "broken down" and needs renovation and water. They promised hot water (January!) for the morning. What happens: No water for hours! Breakfast is poor. Butter not availible. No WiFi.

Run down
Location is lovely
Very run down even compared to last year. Staff very poor and management absent and apparently indifferent. Sadly although a lovely setting by a lake this is over priced and one to avoid.

Catastrofy!
Close to a nature reserve, intresting to see how bad
The bed was not clean, swimmingpool without water, electricity sporadic, personell mostly sleeping even in daytime, breakfast poor, did not dare to have other meals in this hotel. Guide books and on-line reviews are completely out-of-date for this hotel..
