Great location, close to the bus stop (taking the local bus from Sapporo bus terminal with 2 medium size luggages). Beside Kaiseki Dinner (a bit too many pickled food thus a tad too salty) and breakfast (good) the hotel also offers fingers food (cakes, coffee and fruit juice) at various time of the day. Room has nice view of river
Rude and unprofessional staffs”
They could speak poor English and did not inform us about check-out time. I've been in hundreds of ryokans and hotels in Japan and their check-out time is normally at 11am. They called us at 10.30am and rushed us otherwise they would charge about 1050¥ each! Poor communications and information. The onsen was just fine btw.
Love this ryokan!!!”
First time staying in a Onsen ryokan. Love this place so much. The price is good. Both indoor and outdoor have an amazing view of the creek and scene. Breakfast and dinner are fabulous. Overall I’m in love with Jozankei. Hope to visit again soon.
The hotel totally exceeds our expectation. The location is great, just right next to the bus stop. The staff is attentive and cheerful. We love the onsen especially the outdoor one. The breakfast and dinner are both very nice. Highly recommend to book the dinner as well.
We stayed only one night amidst our 10 days road trip. Located at the main road by the creek/river. The building is so constructed that most, if not all rooms, have river view which is very charm. Hotel appears to be very new and our room was rather sizeable. Food the best we had in hotel during the trip and which is supplemented by a desert buffet after dinner, including a choice of 10 types of honey. Unbeatable. Advisable to book half board in order to enjoy this. Comfortable hotspring with a steam room although not the best I can imagine. Room rate acceptable.
Friendly and helpful staff”
The staff were very friendly and helpful. When they know that we were travelling with 2 young children, they took the initiative to add in additional toothbrush sets, towels, slippers and bath robes for the children.
Beautiful and relaxing stay”
Excellent kaiseki dinner, good breakfast, nice clean big tatami style room, good public bath. You can also sit at the lounge to relax in the afternoon for honey and snacks and coffee. Nice hotel. Highly recommended ryokan experience
A High-end Hotel with Great View and Food ”
The food is fresh and great, can see the chef's effort for the breakfast and dinner. The staff are so nice and warm. The river view of room is so magnificent. Location is just 45 min from central Sapporro. A great place to stay with. I will definitely go again and recommend to my friends.
Good onsen experience for first-timer!”
There are a few options that my friend and I were eyeing. We picked Shogetsu Grand Hotel in the end. The FAQ in english language on its website is outdated. It was specified that breakfast and dinner are included and there is no wifi. I booked from agoda and dinner was not mentioned but I was kind of expecting dinner to be included as their website specified so. It cost around 200 usd for a night for 2 futon bed. The indoor pool is so-so, like jjimjilbang in Korea but the outdoor onsen is awesome! What I really like about this hotel - honey buffet starting from 2 to 10pm and dessert buffet starting at 7pm. The hotel staff did not explain properly so we had a pleasant surprise when we found dessert at 7pm. Buffet is complementary. We had fun tasting the varieties of honey available. Breakfast is traditional Japanese set, which taste quite bland to me but the presentation is very delicate. Would like to bring my folks here some day.
Great onsen town”
Nice noodle shop, green tea desert shop and titbits and souvenir shop along the back of the Ryokan. There is a river running along with a red hanging bridge. Onsen rule in Hokkaido allowed opposite sex of up to 12 year old into onsen, a bit unsettling The Tatami room is very comfortable and clean, we took a family room for 4, was great, bfast and dinner was great too, worth taking
Fantastic Onsen Resort!”
Stayed here for 1 night and this is really a comfortable and high quality hotel with great indoor and outdoor onsen plus Japanese fine dining dinner and breakfast provided. Value for money. We stayed in Japanese style room with so comfortable futon mattress. The Onsen is really great as it opened until 3am midnight! Quality shampoos, body wash, lotions and etc are provided. Nice!
hotel facilitates were good but...”
Young generation who works in this hotel needs a lot of improvement. They should learn better manner and what is service from the heart? Example, you don't open the door of our car without giving any signal (we were scared when someone suddenly bump in and open our door). You should show customer the room, eg what facilities are provided, where did u keep the towel, etc. ended up we have to explore and learn to operate different facilities, eg the spa. Service from the elderly in this hotel was great! They tried their best to introduce each single dish in English, keep close eyes on you and see if u need anything.
Nice Japanese hotel”
The hotel is located quite a distance away from the city but it's worth going. We have chosen the Japanese style room and it's great. We love the dinner and breakfast included in the package. It's amazing.
Nice indoor Hot-spring”
It is a hot spring resort in the small city of Jozanki which is about 1 hour by bus from Sapporo or about 1.5 hours from airport. The bus stop is just on the hotel door step. Check in and check out are fast and efficient. The Japanese style room has no beds. They put sleeping-matt (bed) on the floor with a nice cover; when the guests at dinner they prepare the beds, and remove them in the morning when they clean up the room. The 8 Matt or 10 matt rooms differ in the number of Matts making up the floor or the room. The holly-wood rooms have normal beds. The dinner is a set dinner consisting of 11 entries. It is delicious. The breakfast is Japanese style which has fish and rice (expect to eat fish and rice in the morning). May or may not include eggs depending on that day menu. The hot-spring is in door. It is very nice and about 40 degrees Celsius. Outside the hotel there are several minimal hot-spring water pools for foot. To the right when exit the hotel there is a gift shop on your right hand side the then after about 200 m to the left there is a public hot spring, they may have private rooms. Wi-FI is free in the lobby. The town is small and the hotel neighborhood is quite and nothing to see except the river walking path with a hanging bridge and the hot springs. It is a good for 2-3 days relaxation in nature and hot-springs away from the city.
It is my 1st time to live in Japanese style room which is comfortable, clean and spacious, Good view outdoor onsen and nice indoor onsen, convenient location as the bus stop is nearby, great Japanese style breakfast. Nice and friendly staff (evening shift). However, wifi is only available in the lobby.
Pleasant and relaxing”
It was relaxing and peaceful. The food and onsen were the best part of the hotel. The hotel faces a main street with quite a bit of traffic but the room faces the river and the view was very beautiful. Staff were very friendly and helping, going the extra mile to print directions on pieces of paper when told of our next destination.
Great onsen experience”
Good onsen spa and excellence dining room. The travel is convenience by bus, the bus stop is about in front of the hotel. You can take the bus at Sapporo bus terminal near Sapporo JR station. It takes around 1 hour. The room is in Japanese style with tatami mat.
Fantastic Hotel, nice staffs, good facility and good food. Very lovely hotel and comfortable. ”
Breakfast and dinner are very perfect. Good location. Can see the view of Jozankei nature from the hotel start from the lounge to the room. Very very nice. I would like to recommend this hotel to all travelers to Jozankei. It’s fantastic.
Great location, Just right next to bus stop. Hotel was clean and onsen is very nice here. All facilities you need are provided in room. The only minus point here is roughness of some staff. When we arrived they look polite but after we checked out and sitting in hotel lobby to wait for bus, Reception staff looks unhappy and unwelcome and not even want to say thank you to us when we leave.
My stay in this hotel was perfect!”
Amazing view from the room. Friendly and helpful staff who helped us to call a taxi to the ski resort. Excellent
