Disappointing Stay
I booked this hotel for a one night stay and was encouraged by some reviews that I read. When I arrived, the experience was much different. I was placed into a room two doors down from the hotel check-in desk. The room was slightly larger than my double bed, which didn't match the description of "Superior double room". Being on the ground floor, the window opened to a brick wall and was right next to the generator on water outflow pipe. So it was noisy from the lobby, the generator and the constant water flow. The room smelled damp and moldy but the staff said many times that it was the last room so no alternate choices. The shower was a toilet shower combo with semi-warm water. The privacy safe was on locked mode and could not be used. The staff was not rude, but were not very helpful. The room quality was the most disappointing part of the stay. There were not many tourists in this area of Taunggyi, so the restaurant selection is mostly local.

Clean and Friendly staff
The staffs here are friendly and helpful. Hotel is rather clean n comfortable. My only comment will be if you book the superior room, make sure the weather is cold as air conditioning are not provided. So during my stay was not too cold and I had to open the window, unfortunately was not cold as well and full of mosquitoes.

Staffs are quite nice however the facilities are just so so
I was living in the suite, the room is quite big and clean, the staffs are also nice and considerate. But the facilities are not so good, the hot water is not continuous, when I drained the bathtub, the water leaked outside to the floor...sometimes the power trips and the aircon, refrigerator, my phone charger will be reset...

Nice Hotel, but choose room carefully so you are not disappointed
Original room we chose had no air conditioning and was very small and had no room to put even 2 suitcases. I don't believe this is conveyed in their website clearly enough. We ended up upgrading to a larger room for another $20 U.S. per night and this was definitely more suitable

Good hotel
Clean, good location, good rooms
When i checked-in i had problems right away. There were problems related to the room type i had booked. While booking i saw each and every details and took snapshots and kept as i usually always do that when i book rooms. Now the Problem was, what ever pictures they show you on the superior room is WRONG. There must have been some mistake from either Agoda or the hotel. It took them about half hour just to check us in and they insist that that is not their fault and started calling agoda and their manager etc. I booked for twin bed room and when i got there they say we dont have any twin bed rooms. I said how is it possible? in the picture it shows there is and they said No is not anything like that. That really annoyed me and so i took out my ipad and showed them the pictures of the snapshot i took and the staff was like still it is not possible. I said how can you say that? I have booked this and we need twin beds. The rooms were one King bed and we cannot use that as we are 2 mens. They said the picture was of The Family Suite room. I said well that is not my problem now as i booked twin beds looking at the picture etc.. in the end after long waiting and some phone calls by the staff, they ended up giving is the deluxe room with a extra bed. Besides all these hassle, i will still suggest this hotel to anyone visiting Taunggyi.

Not bad
location, staff, price
Given the town is not on the tourist trail, this hotel was not bad. The room was comfortable and clean, but the lack of ventilation in the bathroom made it smell a bit damp. The ground floor location wasn't ideal (the doors weren't very sound proof), but we were staying at a busy time of year. All in all the room was comfortable and the staff were hugely helpful. Also very centrally located!

It served the purpose.
In the heart of the city center, has wifi (though not fast), friendly and helpful staff
Given the lack of choice in Taunggyi, Shwe Kyun Hotel served my purpose of attending meetings in the area. I booked a Delux room, which is roomy and clean, but it is located on the ground floor and was very noisy in the evening and early morning when people driving away or parking their motorbikes. The room has wifi, the speed is acceptable. The breakfast is adequate, but be warned, the food is cold. On the first day of my stay I went to have breakfast at 8:30am and the fried noodle was cold. I thought may be I was too late, because they serve breakfast from 6:30am to 9am, so probably the food turned cold by 8:30am, but I was wrong. On the last day I had breakfast at 6:30am but the fried noodle was still cold! I also stayed one evening at the hotel for dinner. Well, I don't think the hotel expected guests to have dinner in their restaurant, because 1) very limited dishes to choose from, 2) the menu is in Burmese and no English translation. I was told they had chicken fried rice or fried noodle. I chose fried rice, though it was a bit too spicy hot for me, it tasted OK. I shall probably book the same hotel next time if I go to Taunggyi, purely because I can't find better choices, but I hope the management can improve on the points raised above.
