Ask for the samosas!”
Shwe Na Di Guest House was clean, spacious, and convenient. It's really close to Shwezigon Pagoda, which means further away from all the main pagoda and monastery ruins, but you'll probably rent a bicycle/electric bike regardless of where you stay and it's not too far then. The breakfast was good (make sure to ask for the samosas because they don't serve them except by request), and they're generous with seconds so don't hesitate to ask for more (when I asked if I could get pineapple instead of watermelon, the server just brought me a plate of pineapple in addition). My only two real issues are these: 1. Accommodations in Bagan are certainly inflated from elsewhere in Myanmar (the most I paid anywhere during my visit), and while I think that Shwe Na Di's price is fairly competitive, other people definitely paid less than I did (I guess I just booked at the wrong time?), but I also saw some kind of haggling going down in the lobby the morning I was leaving, and had I known I could do that, I wouldn't have booked in advance. It was low season though, so maybe you can't during peak tourism. 2. I wanted to visit Mount Popa, and I read on several sites that locals will deny the existence of the (more cheaply priced) bus option, and when I asked the man at the reception desk, he worded it almost exactly as I was told it would be online. Even after telling him that I'd read online that people would lie about the bus, he insisted there was no bus and the only way was by shared taxi (which could be booked through the hotel at almost three times the price as what I was told a bus would cost). Now, maybe that would have happened at any hotel I stayed at, but the attitude of that employee towards me continued to be short and curt for the duration of my stay. The rest of the staff was extremely nice and welcoming though.

Perfect if you want to meet other travellers”
Shwe Na Di is in a great location, just at the edge of Nyaung-U. It's really close to a restaurant street in the town, and if you hire a bike or an e-bike, you can be at the temples of Bagan in minutes; it takes about 20 minutes by bicycle to get to Old Bagan. It only costs 1,500 kyat to hire a fairly decent bike from across the road for a day (much cheaper than some places) - and the guys at the bike hire place were really sweet about letting me keep the bike for my final morning so I could get one last view of the stunning sunrise over the plains of Bagan. I had a private room with a bathroom for about $25 a night, which was very much worth it. It definitely wasn't luxury, but it was clean and had everything I needed - a TV which I didn't watch, so no idea if it worked; a couple of beds (always cleaned up every day); great shower. The breakfast is great - every morning we had traditional doughnuts, toast, omelette, papaya and banana, along with tea or coffee and some slightly synthetic orange squash. The other good thing about this place is that lots of travellers stay here - I met some really lovely people just hanging out in the courtyard outside. The staff on the desk are usually pretty knowledgeable and can organise various trips for you (though I wouldn't advise doing a trip to Mt Popa - it's a waste of a morning that you could be spending out by the temples!). All in all, a great stay and thoroughly recommended. Oh and - novice monks come past in the morning to collect rice in their begging bowls, which is lovely to see :)

Pleasant stay in Bagan”
Shwe Na Di Guest House is a good option to stay in Bagan. It's location is very central in Nyaung U, which is the cheaper (backpacker) town next to the archaeological sites. The staff is very kind and helpful, especially with organizing tours and transport or explaining the area. The breakfast offers a very nice variety off local food, as well as eggs and toast and you can hire an ebike oder bicycle from there as well. Nice restaurants are nearby (max 10min walk) and little shops are across the street. The cons are a very poor water pressure and changing temperatures in the shower and the bathroom looked rather simple, anyway. Don't expect a frequent good wifi connection, as you share with a few dozen of other guests. Other than that: stay there and enjoy Bagan.

Everything you need in one place...Excellent value for money!”
Shwe Na Di Guest house is no-frills, but has everything you need. Clean, well appointed rooms with a fridge (with water!), a TV, and a large, comfortable bed. They provide a an excellent, full-service breakfast with everything from fruit, to deep-fried Burmese delicacies. The staff are extremely helpful, everything we asked for was provided - from Taxi's to horse & carts to suggestions for dinner! While the hotel is 4 - 5km from the main pagodas, the hotel provides cycle and scooti hire for the cheapest price in all of Bagan, and it is close to eating joints, super markets and the Hot Air Balloon booking office. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this hotel!

One of my best stays in Yangon”
The rooms at Shwe Na Di were wonderful (I stayed at the newer rooms with private toilets at the new building at the back). Breakfast was different each day, and definitely one of the better ones around in terms or variety and taste. There was one staff at the front desk who was friendlier than another. I was not offered breakfast on arrival whereas some other travellers were. Although breakfast shouldn't be offered to guests since check-in time is 12:00pm, but the discrepancy in treatment made me feel a little unfair. Prices for onward tickets and day trips organised by hotel are reasonable. I was offered an overpriced deal on horse carriage and the man who provides the horse carriage service seems to be a regular at the hotel, waiting for patrons. Be careful when dealing with him on prices. Overall, the hotel was very worth the price.

Highly recommended in nyaung oo”
This seems to be the most popular place to stay and there is a reason for that. Due to the inconvenient arrivals times of buses and trains to Bagan people arrive often early in the morning. Shwe na di does a good job of handling this traffic. Their complimentary breakfast is amazing, and includes fresh mangoes and samosas as well as the standard eggs, toast, etc. The rooms are comfortable and cool in the Bagan heat. Nearby the market and shwe zi gon pagoda as well as some friendly tea houses. They offer plenty of services, you must rent an e bike from them and they can arrange buses and pickups for your departure. The staff is extremely attentive and the manager/hostess kyu kyu is possibly the best resource and friendliest person around. This place attracts a diverse crowd and is a great spot to meet other travelers. If you are on a budget like I was, or are trying to avoid the fancy hotels in new Bagan, this would be a good fit for you.

Great location and friendly staff”
We stayed for two nights at Shwe Na Di guesthouse and had a great experience. The location is very good, right along one of the main roads in Nyaung U leading to the temples and within walking distance away from restaurant row. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful with various requests, like renting and charging our e-bikes whenever we return to the guesthouse. We rented a room with a private bathroom, which was basic but offered value for money and a surprisingly good shower with decent water pressure and comfortable temperature. Overall we had a great stay and this guesthouse was a good base from which to explore Bagan.

Great value!!”
Traveling with my mom and stayed at Shwe Na Di one night, the staff was very helpful. They managed to arrange me an early check-in without extra cost (it's still low season in mid-October 2015). It was raining the day we arrived so we decided to upgrade to the en-suite room so that we don't have to walk in the rain to reach the toilet. The guest house is clean enough, room is basic but fully equipped. Note: no hot water in the bathroom so be prepared if you travel during rainy season when it's pretty cool/cold at night. Location is close to Shwezigon Pagoda (10-15 minutes walking), close to (mid-range) food street and shops. 10 minutes walking to Naung U local market which is nice place to see local life. In general, great guest house for reasonable price!

Great base for exploring Bagan”
We arrived on the sleeper bus from Yangon and after managing to negotiate a price of 2000 Kyat each for a taxi from the cowboy taxi drivers at the bus station we made it to the Shwe Na Di guesthouse around 530 am where after a short wait were offered complimentary breakfast (very tasty) and shown to our room for an early check-in at 7 am. Throughout our stay the staff were very friendly and helpful, providing information readily on the best place to go for sunset, lending bowls and cutlery when we got take-away food and spraying our room for insects each evening. The guesthouse is also in a great location, 15 minutes to Old Bagan by ebike and close to good restaurants. The rooms are basic but clean, although the bathroom could do with a little tlc. Grand for staying a few days.

Comfortable Stay”
Shwe Na Di was our first guest house in Myanmar. Everything was quite good. We got a standard double room that was really clean and big enough. The bathroom was nice and clean. The staff was quite knowledgeable and helped out with booking and all. The breakfast was probably the best we have had in Myanmar. I would find it a little on the pricey side but that's true for all hotels in Burma.

Great location, Great staff, Worth the Penny ”
Only thing we had trouble is that the internet connection. Rest is great! They also allowed us to stay in the room till 2-3pm even the checkout time is at 12nn. They helped us arranged a guide for only Kyat10,000. for the half a day tour You can rent E-bike at a cost of Kyat7,000. for whole day or Kyat5,000. for half a day. They can arrange Mt Popa tour for a group, Kyat8,000. per person. Everything you need is available, you just have to ask them! One more thing, they even let us have a bfast the day we came because our bus came too early 6am. So, we got 2 breakfast. Which is a good thing! HAHA! Thanks to Shwe Na Di! All the best!

A great guest house for backpackers - love the breakfast!”
Although the bathrooms, toilets and sinks are shared, it really felt like a friendly travellers guest house. The staff were always super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was so good! They fed you until you dropped, to make sure you can get through the hot day riding around in Bagan. Their e-bikes were cheaper than renting it from any other agency along the road and they sorted out our bus tickets to Kalaw as well. The rooms are clean with aircon and comes with clean towels. All in all, a nice Guest House, in Nyaung U, which I felt has quite a bit more character than New Bagan .

What more could you want?”
For me it's the little things that make somewhere stand out that little bit more ..... Shwe Na Di did not disappoint ..... A great base to explore from, near the local restaurants and shops, a short walk to 'restaurant street' for a wider selection of places to eat. But the spotlessly clean rooms, good quality bedding & towels, lots of hot water with fantastic water pressure and a simple yet filling breakfast, served by friendly & helpful staff..... No complaints whatsoever ! Loved my stay and recommend highly.

One of the Best hostels on my travels!”
This place is awesome! Absolutely fantastic. I stayed in the Superior Double or Twin (x 1) and the privacy is fantastic. The bathroom was clean and the water pressure was perfect. The communal areas are so nice. A big room for eating, where breakfast is served. The location is just as good, walking distance to the restaurants and Nyaung U Market (Bagan), hey, if you want to buy cheap longyi, go to this market as the longyi at the temples are quite expensive. The place was quite empty when I was there, but that suited me fine, I guess since it's the low peak season in Myanmar in July. More so, I've been reading a lot of reviews that the Owner is rude, But she is NOT!!! She was even the first person who approached me and told me that she saw me while I was wandering at the temples. She was really nice, very accommodating and her English is clear. And when I went to Mt. Popa, she approached me and gave me a bottle of water and wet wipes and gave me few tips on what not to do.

Thanks, Shwe Na Di! A great stay in Bagan”
Shwe Na Di welcomed me even when I actually arrived in the wee hour of 4 AM. They offered breakfast, said that my room was not yet available but I could start to freshen up. It was ok since I started my tour right after breakfast anyway. The staff were very nice, breakfast was full meal in itself, filling and delicious. Thanks Shwe Na Di!

Second Visit - Still Great”
Second visit to Shwe Na Di. Stayed in pink units out the back. Twin beds room, bar fridge, free water daily, cold-air con and fan, private bathroom, hot shower, only negative no kettle. Breakfast is terrific, plenty of everything. 7000K for ebikes. Management at reception excellent, good English, knowledgable, can even get you a local guide to take you around on ebike if you can't ride. Only 5 minute stroll up to major restaurant street. Have own mini-van for shared trips out to Mt Popa etc. Highly recommend. Will stay again.

Excellent value and great staff!”
Stayed here for 3 nights, for the money it was a good choice. Breakfasts in the morning were pretty hearty and good, also the staff were incredibly accommodating, helpful and kind the entire time. Close to restaurants, and all pagodas are bikeable too. Only downside was the shared bathroom when I had food poisoning-- never had to wait to use the facilities, just not very convenient, but that's part of traveling! Would highly recommend Shwe Na Di :)

5-star &Wonderful Guesthouse ”
The owner ( Thwin) is so helpful, as she gave us really useful recommendations to get on Bus on the way from Mandalay airport to the Junction that bus will pass to Bagan. She also sincerely concerned about me and my mom as she called many times to us and Bus company to make sure we get on the bus or not. We really appreciated her assistance. Guesthouse is very lovely with easy going around by E- bike rental (8,000 MMK/ day). Thwin also upgraded my room. I contacted her a lot about my plan to reach Bagan. I would highly recommended this guesthouse to every one. This is the most valuable guest house for my experience as room price ( 11.8 USD) is also inclusive of breakfast, So amazing!!!

Brilliant”
Great guesthouse deserves its rating. Perfect as a base for visiting Bagan. The rooms and facilities are clean and it is in a good location in Nyaung Shwe, just a ten minute walk to restaurant row. Staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay again if returning to Bagan.
