Perfectly Fine”
This is a perfectly fine option in Sittwe. I stayed in the second category room, not the standard, so perhaps that had something to do with it, but I found the room to be quite comfortable and clean, with coffee/tea service and nice minibar, hot shower, comfortable bed... nothing to complain about. Great view of the flight of the bats in the evening from their roof terrace, which is a wonderful spot to drink a beer in the breezy evening air... standing up, however, because they have no tables or chairs up there. Seriously, if they started a proper cafe terrace, they could make some extra cash from beer-buying foreigners enjoying the sunset and bats show. Something to think about, Shwe Thazin.

Dissapointing and not to be recommended”
we read the reviews but Shew Thazin being the only hotel in Sittwe that could be booked we booked it (tip: do book a different hotel in Sittwe simply via the hotel/hostel you stay in before travelling to Sittwe). to start of the hotel forgot to pick us up at the airport and no one was really feeling responsible when we asked them about it. the staff was barely able to speak english and the advertised internet (they even hand out passwords) does not work (and supposedly never has). the room was not really clean (dead moskitos on the wall) and when we had the same room 3 days later on our return from Mrauk U it was still there. dinner was ok. the only good thing about this hotel is the rooftop terace that faces the trees the fruit bat colony lives in.

Adequate and met our needs for the one night we stayed”
There are not many places to stay in Sittwe, and this seemed best option with hot shower when I booked but I had made mistake with booking a room just for one person. Staff however managed to find us a room for 2 people which was adequate but a bit cramped and dingy but shower hot. Might have had a better room if I had booked correctly. We had toast and jam breakfast upstairs in restaurant early as catching boat. Met our needs for the one night we stayed and no complaints. Building work in progress.

it's Sittwr”
It is a good hotel for sittwe. There are fruit bats hanging on the tres in front. You can see them leave and arise from roof deck. They picked me up from airport as arranged.

Strong recommand for not to stay at this hotel if you like clean place ”
Their staff have a good customer service , but the holtel room is not the same as the picture , have moistre , smell , and bath room is dirty. In the first day even they confirmed the booking and collect the money from agoda , but actually they don't have room for us , let us move to another hotel and pay by theirself , but we can't sleepthe hole night brcause of mice and noise . Second day morning, we go and check in at shwe thazin again , at first they don't have room and still not checkout . we go around and come back hotel again , the room they gave me very dirty and have moisture , smelly . so we decided move to another hotel and let them pay back refund .. the staff was very politely and solve the problem . but the owner did'nt want to take responsibilites . after that they said just want to pay back 50% ... and finally got back 3 days room charges...

Just OK”
Much better than Mrauk U Shwe Thazin.

good for the area”
The rooms are fairly clean for the area though there were bird droppings over most surfaces. There was good cable at the mercy of the staff. The internet does not really work. The lower rooms' bathrooms smell of sewer gas. The breakfast is mediocre. Overall not a good value for the price though I doubt anything in sittwe is.

Value for money”
The hotel is one of the cheapest in the city. I could see other hotels around, more expensive (60-80 USD night), but eventually they do not offer much better rooms apart being 32m2 and repainted. I could classify this hotel as a standard EU 1 star. The hotel is not particularly clean and needs some refurbishment. Staff was nice but a bit shy and not good English speakers. more local than foreign customers. I stayed at the 4th floor in garden view and i had full light. Air con and hot water working as well as an empty fridge. The room was 16m2 not smelling of damp (but it was dry season) but i could see some part of the walls with molds. The 20 inch TV had some channels with foreign movies. The breakfast at the rooftop was nice with a good view of trees canopies and a glimpse to the sea. The hotel changes the menu almost every day, with two staples and two fish/meat dishes, egg, two side dishes, fruits. It's a no frills hotel, but at an excellent location.

don't go there - it is expensive and shabby.”
the hotel is shabby, just the roof is cool to watch the bats.i stayed there 1 night in january 2015.the hotel is old, rooms and bathrooms are shabby, the furniture shows wear and tear and the windows lead to the next wall. the food is like in all burmese hotels horrible, but this is nothing special to the shwe thazin. just the roof is cool to watch the bats. if you wanna see the bats, go to the roof-but this is not a reason to book this hotel. there are better options in sittwe, and you will find them without pre-booking.the staff have been here for too long (they told me that they never left sittwe), as they act dull and in a kind of numbness. but they are friendly, and they try to help you ( just that there is nothing they could help you because the room situation is hopeless....)my advice: just don't go there- it is a waste of money, lifetime and holidays!!! no, i cannot recommend the shwe thazin!!! would i go there again? no, never ever!!!

Only if you can't avoid a night in Sittwe”
First problem is the hotel is located at the main road of Sittwe which is very loud. Additionally there is a large construction site just beside the hotel. Alltogether this makes it a very loud and dusty stay. The bedroom was ok, but the sanitary installations in the bathroom are adventurous. If you manage to find a little war water for the shower then you are lucky. Very basic breakfast.

Friendly helpful staff”
Very pleasant for a short stay. Hotel is undergoing improvement work on upper floors which will be 5 bonus when complete. On the plus side the works do not disrupt guests

Overnight stay, awaiting boat to Mrauk Oo”
Somewhat of a dump; but still tolerable. The staff hunted us down to tell us the ferry would be two hours late, saving us from waking up super early and rotting at the jetty for two extra hours - thank you for that! Nearby Seafood Restaurant had excellent humungous lobster for $9 each - a steal of a deal...but watch out, their 'premium scotch' (Chivas, Johnny Walker) are fake (common in Myanmar) - I don't think they are aware of it. Rooftop at sunset is quite the avian spectacle - not to be missed and a better sunset location that the so-called 'View Point'.

Ok, but not great...”
This hotel needs some fixing up. We stayed twice and the 2 rooms we had were dark, dreary and in need if a paint job. There is a new hotel in Sittwe, Hotel Memory that we found out was charging the same price for a much bigger nicer room. There are better options for the same price and all very close.

tired and dated..serves a purpose but that's it”
basic pretty run down place, not the cleanest but not filthy. With new places springing up all the time in this country I'd find somewhere more modern next time. The room was very basic, dingy and dark, single beds and rock hard pillows . No lift so if you're on the 3/4 floor it's a bit of a hike. go to the lifeless bar/ restaurant at dusk and stand out in the balcony to watch the massive fruit bats feeding opposite the hotel. some staff were fairly poor,, a bit blunt, and I was ignored for 10 minutes when checking in. unusual for such a friendly country. Sittwe is worth a night, quite interesting, and a visually great market.

Perfect ”
I can't think of a bad thing about this place. Very helpful staff, great location and a lovely room. Perhaps the breakfast spread was a little limited.

room was disappointing, better hotel in Sittwe available

Acceptable”
When I got there - although I booked a room with a confirmation email, the hotel could not find any record of my booking. This was a serious issue as all of the hotels' rooms in Sittwe were fully booked and foreigners should stay in a hotel in Rakhine. Agoda should not have sent me the confirmation email in the first place.

Hotel ok, town better than its usual reputation”
Hotel was alltogether ok, staff a bit desorganised, unfortunately room windows are colour-glassed, so very dark bad lightened room. Be careful with the hotels taxi driver, he pretended not to understand us, drove to wrong places and charged a lot too much.
