Complete our holiday in Taroko”
Starting from Taipei main station we took fast train to Hualien, Taroko mountains leg, from Hualien we hires minivan for 5 person to Taroko Gorge especially to our hotel Silks Place. Driver stop for us to take some photos at view gorgeous spots. By train to Hualien is take 2.5 hours from Taipei main station, and 1 hour from Hualien up to Taroko Gorge Silks Place. From outside Silks Place Hotel look very simple and small, but we're impressed, inside look elegant and wellness. Lobby lots of comfortable cushion for guests, birds singing welcoming us plus ginger welcome drinks complete our journey today. We arrived at 2pm and reception process our check in, Mr. Conan is very well on his job, we were placed in the mountains views room with balcony at second floor. Stunning. The room is quite big about 40m2, with bath room about 3x2m, ours bathroom has one small bath tub and rain showers, separate toilet in between of dry make up room. Hanging closed and safety box in the bedroom.
Relaxing Stay”
The Silks Taroko Hotel was lovely, minimalistic, holistic, with relaxation in mind. The quad room is very nice for a family of four, however, the beds are double beds so if you are larger or taller, you might find it a bit squishy to share with someone else. When you arrive at the Hualien Train Station, there is a Silks shuttle (for a fee) or you can take a taxi to the Silks Hotel which is about a 45 min - 1 hour drive. We went a week after the huge Typhoon Megi hit the area, so there was quite a lot of typhoon damage and the roads were closed at certain times. Trails were also closed off due to landslides. Despite that, we got lucky and the one main day we were there was absolutely perfect weather so we did a lot of hiking and swimming. The Silks has a very big swimming pool, kids pool and spring water jacuzzis. The Retreat Lounge has beverages and high tea, as well as a wine hour between 5-6pm. Full board includes breakfast and dinner, which at first I thought was a bit much -- but after staying there, you'll quickly realize that the Silks is the only main hotel in the area, so grabbing dinner at a nearby restaurant or shopping centre is not easy. Dinner at the hotel was much more convenient. Hotel staff were very friendly and spoke quite good English. The hotel was fully booked when we stayed and I would stay again for sure.
Fun-packed hotel, never a moment of dullness!”
Silks Place Taroko Hotel is amazing! It's situated among nature/greenery/fantastic gorges and even a casual evening stroll outside is such breathtaking and awesome. The eateries near the hotel serve really good and authentic food. We came during winter time and the heaters in the room worked wonderfully well. The hotel is well equipped with an indoor pool and an outdoor pool. There are jacuzzi pools right on the rooftop, it was an awesome experience soaking in the hot water while admiring nature. The hotel has folk singers performing each night. The singers are wonderful at engaging the guests and provide really good entertainment to round off the day. If you're stuck in the hotel because of the weather, you may want to have some good family fun playing ping pong, Wii or lego in their family room. Silks Place is just awesome, definitely a place where I'd love to check in again during my next trip to Taiwan!
Lovely, relaxing hotel in the middle of Taiwanese paradise”
I hate gushing reviews, but I'm afraid this will gush a bit. Silks Place Taroko was simply the closest to a perfect hotel experience we have ever had. The room was very nice. We got the cheapest room, and it still felt spacious. We had a buffet dinner which was not cheap, but extraordinary: such variety, and all excellently prepared. The same with the breakfast. There was entertainment: a show of native folk dances (who knows how authentic, but entertaining nonetheless), and later a movie on the roof. The staff were unfailingly kind and attentive. And all of this while in the midst of some of the most spectacular scenery on earth: the Taroko Gorge. We went there to celebrate our 32nd anniversary. We stayed only one night, but it was absolutely unforgettable. If we ever return to Taiwan (Lord willing, we will), we will make an effort to stay there again. Not cheap (we paid around $300 USD), but very much worth it. We've stayed in other 5-star hotels, but none like this. Highly recommend
Great Hotel in the Heart of Taroko”
Silks Place is a very charming hotel in an excellent location. A shuttle service was able to pick me up from the Hualien train station for a small fee, which you'll be thankful you paid once you see how treacherous the roads in Taroko Gorge are. There is a lot to do in the area, whether it's a tour booked through the hotel or a few short hikes you want to take on your own. The staff are very friendly and provided excellent service, someone at the front desk even gave me free ramen when I did not make it to the 7-11 in time for snacks before they closed. The food served at the breakfast and dinner buffet are above average, but it is all you can eat! The facilities and room are a little dated but still great. I had a very comfortable stay and would recommend Silks Place to others.
Wonderful experience”
If you are planning a trip to Taroko gorge, Silks Place Taroko Hotel is an ideal rest station. We stayed at a room overlooking the gorge for 2 nights. We loved it as we could just open the balcony door and listen to the rush of the river. During our 2 days there, we explored the surrounding area. There were several easy walking trails nearby. What I loved about the hotel was how they introduced guests to the local culture. The first night we were there, we were invited to an aboriginal musicial night at the roof of the hotel. The setting was beautiful because we were seated in the open air around a bonfire, and given blankets and hot ginger tea while some young musicians entertained us. That was a truly unforgettable experience.
Lovely as always”
Boyfriend and I discovered the wonders of Silks Place Taroko last April, and eagerly planned a trip back there this year. I love everything about this hotel: from the sound of rushing water outside (we had a Gorge view room), to the rooftop pool and jacuzzis where you can lie and stare off into the greenness of surrounding hills. All of the staff - really, ALL of them - are well-trained and warm, and I got no curt/indifferent responses during my entire stay, even from the restaurant servers at the peak dining hour when they had been running around all day. Silks Place is in Tianxiang, about 40 minutes drive from the entrance of the national Park (an hour from the train station/airport), and while it's a hassle to get there - and to move around once you are there - the view and the serenity more than make up for it in my book. There are two restaurants serving Chinese a la carte and Western/international buffet, but I was surprised to find out that the Chinese restaurant did not change their set menu from day to day for those of us who gotten rooms with dinner included. The food was of good quality and there was variety, but it was nothing wow-ing. In all, I love it here and am already looking forward to going back.
Beautiful place and very friendly and polite staff”
Silks Place Taroko Hotel has a very nice ambience. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed at the room with the gorge view and we could see the beautiful scenery clearly from our room. The room was also spacious and clean. We'd also enjoyed using the hotel facilities like the big indoor pool and gym. They have a good selection of food at the breakfast and western dinner buffet. Staff were very prompt and polite in clearing your empty plates. The food was average as I felt that some dishes were a bit too bland for my liking. Overall, my family enjoyed the stay at Silks Place. We'd love to come again and would highly recommend this beautiful hotel to anyone.
Excellent Hospitality and comfort!”
Our stay at Silks Place Taroko was the most enjoyable one of our taiwan trip. The hotel is right smack in the middle of taroko park which allows easy access to walking trails in the park. The hotel also provides guided tours to further trails. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. As the hotel is in the park, it also has numerous facilities and activities to keep everybody occupied. From yoga classes, to morning runs, you can pick and choose an activity to your liking. The food range is good and you can choose to have your meals in either the oriental restaurant or the western buffet restaurant. We tried both and enjoyed our meals there! The management of the hotel is aware that tourists may run out of things to do and therefore the whole list of activities and facilities available by the hotel is indeed thoughtful and well planned. Definitely worth a stay there to indulge yourself.
Frantastic Hotel”

Excellent hotel in the middle of taroko gorge”
We stayed for 2 nights at Silks Place and felt that we could have stayed for a week to truly experience Taroko and relax in this wonderful hotel. The location is right in the middle of Taroko which is near the Baiyang trail and also Lushui. It is unfortunate that the 9 turn tunnel trail was closed but there are several walking paths possible along in the vicinity which is worth trying. The service at Silks Place was very good and breakfast was fantastic. Try the Chinese restaurant as they serve really good local food that has a more delicate taste compared to the street food in Taiwan. It costs us around 30 euro for two people for a really good meal. Our room has a view of the gorge which we enjoyed thoroughly. In addition, the rooftop jacuzzi was fantastic to relax in at night and even in slight rain. One can see/hear bats flying at night to the gorge. There are also night performances offered by the hotel and we were offered ginger drink as we enjoyed a young local band serenade english and manadarin songs on the roof terrace. It is a truly memorable stay.
Great hotel with the perfect location”
If you are looking for a romantic getaway during your stay in Taiwan, the Silks place hotel in the beautiful Taroko National Park is definitely a good choice. Situated in the middle of the Gorge you have an easy access to scenic nature sights and trekking routes from you step out of the hotel. We stayed for two nights and we could easily have spend more time there. The hotel in itself is really classy and has a nice relaxing atmosphere. The rooftop is amazing at night, where you can enjoy the hot tubs and swimming pool while looking at the mountains and the dark sky. Since the hotel is kind of secluded we decided to stay there for dinner. The hotel has two restaurants. The first night we tried to chinese style restaurant, which served delicious food (a la card + fixed menu's) and hot tea at fair prices considering that we where at a hotel. The next day we went for the western style restaurant (buffet) which was really good as well but a bit more pricy compared to local standard (1700 NTD total, without beer and wine). On day 1 we rented mountain bikes at the hotel and went for a trip around the area. The hotel staff was a bit uneasy to have us bike to far since there had been some accidents with rock-fall and landslide prior to our stay. They showed us a 3 hour route which took us about an hour to complete. If you are a somewhat experienced bike rider I would recommend you to do your own research with the routes and then check with the hotel if it is safe before going. On day 2 we went on a half-day trip (3 hours) arranged by the hotel. It was a convenient but not as exiting way to see the gorge. The guide hardly didn't speak any english, so to be honest we did not really get our money worth since she explained everything in mandarin, but the nature was of course stunning. Next time I think I will rather do some more hiking or rent a scooter or car to see some more. All in all it was a very nice stay and I would definitely recommend others to go there :).
Fabulous hotel!”
We were originally going to stay for just one night, but because we only got to see one trail, and also because the hotel was so beautiful and the facilities were so good, we went ahead to extend our stay by one more night. The hotel rooms are big, clean and well-maintained, and the food is excellent, but the service is the real star of the show here. Because we changed our plans after we had booked our return train tickets, the staff had to assist us with changing the date and timing of our return trip. They did so (multiple times) without a single word of complaint, and all with a smile! They also are very knowledgeable, and will help you book day/half-day tours and spa appointments during your stay in the hotel. They ultimately refused to accept a tip from us, asking us to leave feedback on Agoda instead. All the staff at the hotel are stars, especially Queena and Michelle at the front desk. Kudos to Silks Place Taroko for giving us an experience to never forget. We will definitely be back for another stay.
Beautiful and relaxing experience ”
Silks Place is the only hotel in Taroko Gorge and it is worth the money. Try to secure a room with a gorge view. The staff were among the friendliest I have ever met. The food was amazing (ate both western and chinese cuisines). The hotel offers a variety of pre-organized activities off-site (tours, hiking) and on the hotel's campus. Hotel is surrounded by hiking trails but there is just as much consideration for staying and enjoying it's beautiful outdoor pools, jacuzzis with the background of the gorge in front of you. Taroko is one of the most beautiful places in the world and Taroko does it justice quite well.
Perfectly situated in stunning Taroko Gorge”
my husband and i had a perfect fall getaway at silks place taroko hotel. the staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating and the hotel itself had everything you needed to relax and unwind. terrific entertainment at night, an extensive and delicious buffet, a beautiful spa, breathtaking poolside views...all just a short distance from some of taroko's most picturesque spots. a special thank you tiger and chanel for all of their help in making our stay extra special. we are so grateful to agoda for helping us find this truly unique hotel!
A quiet , perfect retreat away from it all”
The gorge beside it and the National Park Silk Place is situated in makes this hotel a perfect getaway. It was a very pleasant 2.5 hr journey from Taipei by train and the hotel shuttle bus driver met us at Hualien train station. The bus ride to Silk place was also a pleasant 1 hr ride through the National Park. Dinner was available at a reasonable price at both the Chinese and western restaurant. Buffet breakfast was also just as delicious. There are a few trails near the hotel, Long ones and shorter ones. We took a half day tour from Silk Place and enjoyed it. The outdoor swimming pool on the roof terrace is set in a most beautiful setting with the hills around and the gorge coursing down below.
Superb Hotel”
We stayed at Silks Place Taroko Hotel for 3 nights. The hotel itself is set in Taroko gorge and is absolutely stunning. The rooms are either Garden View or River View. We booked the River View and I think personally these are the better rooms. The hotel has a rooftop pool and heated jacuzzis and a buffet breakfast was included. There's not much to do of a night but the location of the hotel makes a great base to explore the gorge and the hotel run both ful day and half day tours.
Beuatiful hotel”
We stayed at Silks Place for 1 night in January and we did not want to leave. The staff is very friendly and accommodating and most of them can speak good English. Views of Taroko Gorge are stunning and we particularly enjoyed sitting in the hot tub at night while overlooking the Gorge. The food is pretty good. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very nice. We highly recommend at least 2-3 nights stay at Silks Place sot hat you can enjoy the hotel amenities while also exploring Taroko Gorge.
Amazing hotel - breathtaking scenery”
This hotel is a must for anyone visiting Taroko Gorge - the hotel is right in the middle of the Gorge and provides stunning views from every angle. Rooms are large and comfortable - we had a great view of the gorge itself which is amazing to look at when you wake up in the morning. The facilities are great - lovely pools and hot tubs, kids club room and lots of activities - evening performance and movie night by the pool. Although expensive, we thought it was still good value - the evening meals were very good, the Chinese set menu in the Chinese restaurant had a lot of variety and was cooked to perfection. The breakfast buffet was excellent as well. We also brought some wine from Taipei for dinner and they charged a modest corkage fee. We also have to mention the great help from the staff - Paula, one of the concierge team, helped to book train tickets for us from Taipei to Hualien and paid for them personally. Without her help we would not have been able to travel to Taroko Gorge for our set dates - and she went out of her way to make sure we could stay. They also arranged a 4 hour car tour for us to different sites, since we had a young child and did not want to be stuck on the bus tour. My only issue was that they jacked up the price of the tour when we asked for an English speaking driver - and that the tour guide was more set on his own agenda then listening to what we wanted to do in the park. Definitely a memorable experience- do try to stay for more than one night to enjoy the hotel facilities and the surrounding area.
