Short stay in Silver moon hotel”

          Price, Service, Food

the Silver Moon Hotel is located near with Airport. Yangon has terrific traffic jam if you need to transit in yangon before flight to another domestic area, I think Silver Moon Hotel is suitable. Do not think about tourist attractive near the hotel. It is business and offices area. the hotel staff is kind and helpful. Food is quite good and tasty.

          silver moon hotel”

          very welcoming staff

Reviewed February 25, 2013 NEW It is very apparent that tourism is in its fledgling years in Myanmar and that budget tourist accommodation which can be booked in advance over the internet / phone is expensive and limited (relative to its other South East Asia neighbours). With a price of $36 per night for our double room we were very disappointed. Our room was smelly, grubby, had no windows(not stated in a room description - if it was would not book it), sheets and towels were stained and our ensuite had seen better days (a long time ago). This was countered by an efficient air-con unit which kept us icy cold at night, which was just what we needed in stifling muggy heat outside. The hotel does have WiFi in the room, although its a bit tempremental and you need to sign in through a webpage which doesn't always work. Breakfast was included in our price but was poor relative to other places we stayed in Burma, although the dinner we ate the night we arrived was tasty. The main asset of the hotel is its staff, who were extremely welcoming, warm and helpful throughout our stay. It was much closer to accommodation standards in India than SEA, but ten times more expensive. For the same money you could probably find something nearer the downtown area too, but from our experience you'll need to book up quite early wherever you go (this was all we could find two weeks before arrival at a "reasonable" price). The property is quite far from the downtown area but there is a local bus to Chinatown from the road in front of the hotel which will set you back only 200 kyat per person. Our taxi from the airport to the hotel from the

The only reason to stay there is to catch early morning fight to the North. generally hotel in Yangon is over-priced. you get 1-2 stars of the standard you paid. Hopefully, over time with competition and more new hotels to surface, the price will fall or else it will drive tourist away.

Uncleanest room in the world, no window”

Air conditioner, room service with good food, relatively quiet

It was looking questionably on the photos, but we wanted to save money, so we've chosen the cheapest hotel in the city. The room was small and there was no windows, but maybe it was for the better, because the street was super-noisy with dirty air. There is cold water only, and the bathroom was dirty. The hotel is close to the airport, but far from all the attractions, it was 20-40 minutes drive every time. There was no cafes and restaurants around the hotel. But they prepare good food (like Thai style vegetables and shrimp) in the hotel, you can choose from menu in the room. The internet worked, but the speed was painfully low. BTW, I went to all fancy farang cafes with wi-fi, and there was faster internet only when there was not many other visitors.

          Cheap, decent, bareback

If you are a backpacker or on a very tight budget, this is as good/cheap as it gets. Near enough to the airport. I paid for the double room with aircon and attached shower and didn't expect much more than what I got. You really need to be aware that . I would not recommend this to anyone not used to backpacking standards. Super basic hotel and rooms with no lifts and the hotel is old with cracked tiles and stained walls and bits which look very grim, but otherwise clean sheets and wifi works okay. Pros: Clean sheets Towels provided Soap Shampoo Toothbrush set provided Drinking water Good enough bed Strong Aircon Cons: Stained toilet (no smells thankfully) No toilet paper Hot water was a trickle so we showered under the cold tap which was a good height only for people below 1.55m Found a fat cricket in our bathroom and a dead cockroach outside Location was good enough to get to the airport but not well known. The taxi drivers had issues finding it. Also, 40min from downtown Yangon

          Dank and gross”

          Staff was nice

Absolutely one of the grossest hotels I've ever stayed in. You can get cheaper (or for same price) and much cleaner place downtown, closer to the attractions. The problem may be that few hotels in yangon are set up to take credit card reservations through sites. After my stay at this place I paid less at another place, which was significantly better. To be specific here were some of the issues: location is not close to any of the attractions, disgusting carpet floor in room full of stains and cigarette burns, looks like it had never been cleaned, gross and dank bathroom full of mildew and mold all over the walls, and bed had no sheet to cover yourself with, only a blanket (to their credit though the sheet and pillow case was clean). Many places have figured it out, cheap doesnt have to mean dirty! This hotel needs to learn that lesson.

          airconditioning, friendly staff

For the price, I will say the room was clean, and the bed wasn't bad. However, the hotel is near basically nothing making it an expensive cab ride to and from constantly and it also is right on a major street so the sounds from the street were literally so loud there was one night I did not sleep at all. The staff is friendly, however, only one out of the 8 milling about speaks English, so while friendly, not very helpful. Overall I would probably not stay here again if I had to choose, but not the worst place in Yangon by a long stretch. Wifi was available, but painfully slow.

Very cheap price, close to airport, nice staff

The hotel is located around 10 minutes away from Airport, the staff are nice. I only stayed for 4 hours in Yangon hence I booked this hotel. The condition is very poor, the toilet is kind of unacceptable, the windows could not be closed and it was so noisy outside, in the end, my friend and I didn't actually sleep in the end.

          Bad state. ”

What you pay is what you get. Yangon hotel prices are more expensive. If I knew the state of the hotel, I would have chosen another and willingly pay more. Hotel is very old and in dire need of upgrading. The staff was polite and helpful which perhaps it's saving grace or I would have not have been kinder with my feedback.

          Overpriced but very friendly staff”

          - the staff is very nice, thats all

The staff is very nice and helpful but: - Hotel is overpriced for what you get! - The bathroom is very old and not clean enough. It looks like the sink and walls haven't been cleaned since weeks. - Breakfast is poor - Room is ok but loud, even the one without window. - Too far from city center, nothing to do around the hotel. By taxi 20-30 min to airport.

          Basic, great aircon, bed ok.”

          Aircon, aircon, aircon.

We knew when we booked it was a basic cool room, no windows and below standard bathroom so it was as expected. Would not liked to have spent any longer as water quality and septic smell in bathroom was a bit overpowering, but we only wanted a cool room to rest between flights from Bagan to later flight from Yangon. Room delivered what we wanted.

          Worst place ever!!!!”

          Staff, location, friendly

I don't usually write reviews, but this place is a unique site in yangon as it has to be one of the biggest holes above ground! We just stayed one night to catch the plane to the airport the next day, but we spend minimal time here, as there was dirt stains on our sheets, bathroom wasn't clean, smelt of sewage, the room had a funny smell, but not as bad as the rest of the hotel. But the staff was nice.

convenient for the airport, very friendly staff

This is a good place to stay if you have to catch an early flight. It's not far from the airport and the staff will get a taxi for you at any hour. They are very attentive in general. However, our room was not in great condition. Especially the bathroom. It wasn't exactly dirty, nor would I call it exactly clean. There are no restaurants or things to do near this hotel, so it's pretty much just good if you have an early flight.

          Friendly people ”

          Clean sheets and soft matress

The personnel was really friendly trying to help you with all we needed. They all welcome us with a big smile. The matress was very nice and the sheets clean. There wasn't no window at the room and the carpet seemed to be very dirty. We always used our flip flop in the room and the bathroom. the bathroom seemed like it was never cleaned up. The luck of window make it seems like a jail. Also, we had Internet access for only 15 minutes and we have to go down to take new password every time. The breakfast was very very poor. Since the hotel is next to the road everytime a big truck was passing outside, the building was shaked. Please note that the hotel is about 15 minutes away by taxi and you really can not walk all this distance. Very bad value for money.

Very bad location situated on very noisy road”

          25 minutes from the airport

Only two redeeming factors about this hotel. Reasonably close to the airport and the super friendly staff. Otherwise don't stay here. The hotel is situated on an extremely busy road that thunders by 24/7. The whole building shook each tiime a truck went past which was constantly. No food close by and what is available is mediocre. We spent our last two nights in Myanmar at this hotel and in hindsight one night would have been enough. Generally Myanmar hotels have inflated their prices without improving their amenities. Enjoy Bangkok both comming and going!

          Not a good choice”

I stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights. Nothing is good for the hotel, except the staff, whom are generally courteous and receptive, as their local culture moulds them to be. The hotel is certainly 'BAD' in all aspects. The TV has the foreign 'Skynet' channel, where one can choose a variety of sub-channels, from Sports to classical oldies movies to the latest Hollywood ones. BUT the catch is: the control is with the counter. So whatever is shown on the Skynet channel is NOT chosen by your room's TV remote, but the counter staff on level one. And talking about 'levels', there are NO lift. Of course the staff will help you carry your bags, but if you decide to go in and out of the hotel regularly, be prepared to climb stairs. The whole place is RUNDOWN. The floor carpet is worn out, the paint is peeled, the dirt marks are not removed, from walls to bedsheets (even though the staff assured me they are washed and not 'reused'). The worst part is the shower. There are two showerheads - one the 'wallfitted' type, the other the handheld. The former has stronger pressure, but the water is just barely warm. The latter has hotter water, but the strength is pathetic. I bit my teeth to go through the whole period of stay. The breakfast is even funnier: bread with jam and butter, and cooked noodles. The best part is: the hot water flask cover is spoilt, thus unable to 'press' for water. One has to literally open the lid, dip a cup into the water to scoop it up. LOL Won't recommend to anyone.
