Very nice hotel, friendly & helpful staff”
This is definitely the go-to hotel for me in Phnom Penh, it is superbly located close to the river, within walking distance of many restaurants and sights. The hotel itself is modern, squeeky clean, with elevator, free wifi connections, the rooms are not the biggest, but everything is there: comfortable bed, aircon, tv with international channels, safe, wardrobe, bathroom with great shower, breakfast with egg station :), ... As I mentioned earlier, the rooms could be a little bigger, but other than that, I have no remarks or complaints about this hotel. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Phnom Penh and the Silver River hotel is definitely high in my list.

Strategically located hotel”
We only stayed one night in Phnom Penh so saving time was essential. The hotel was strategically located within the sites you must see in the capital: Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, National Museum, Wat Phnom and the markets, which were all walking distance or a short tuktuk ride away. The hotel may be in a rather busy alley and could be easy to miss but the hotel signage was clear and visible. There were a lot of restaurants and places to eat in that area and a tuktuk was never hard to find. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious enough. Our room was upgraded at no extra cost and that came with a bigger bed and a terrace with a street view. The hotel staff were kind, friendly and welcoming (as the rest of the locals in Cambodia). The breakfast buffet was good and one could order a la carte from the hotel restaurant at the ground floor throughout the day. On our last day, the hotel staff gladly called the bus company that would pick us up from the hotel to the bus station and confirmed the pick-up time. The staff even wrapped our lunch for us when the pick-up came earlier than expected. Overall this place is highly recommended and truly value for money.

Very clean hotel, good cheap restaurant”
We stayed here two nights on our return to Phnom Penh from Kep, because we couldn't get a room at our previous Phnom Penh hotel. It was close to Sisawath Quay, very clean and comfortable, located in a narrow, busy side street, with restaurants all around. It had a cheap restaurant with happy hour and good drink prices, where they serve an adequate breakfast which was included in the very modest room rate. Hotel doesn't have any particular charm, but it was a good base from which to explore the city. One noteworthy thing, the hotel appeared to have many middle aged solo male guests, who did not appear to be travelling for business, and the hotel did not have a visible 'no sex travellers' policy.

Clean rooms and a great location ”
We were mainly looking for somewhere central to stay and this place worked out perfectly. Within walking distance to main sights - National Museum, Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda. About 2 streets down from the riverside where the main tourist drag is with lots of restaurants. The staff were helpful and eager to please, they helped us book a bus to Siem Reap. The room was very clean and spacious, with a nice bathroom and large shower. I woukdn't recommend the free breakfast though. The selectin is small and we suspect there was something up with the sausages as we were sick later that day, before eating anything else. However a hotel cannot be judged by its breakfast and in a city as wonderful as Phnom Penh you're better off going out and experiencing things!

Cheap and comfortable stay”
I booked the Family Room with Balcony. It is basically a maisonette with two levels and there is only 1 entrance on the lower level. There is a flight of steep (VERY steep) stairs in the room leading to the second level. Each level came with its own queen bed and an en-suite bathroom. *Do note that the room on the lower level is much less spacious than that on the upper level. The air-conditioning units are quite dated but they still function well. WIFI is free and strong. My booking came with breakfast and it was a simple buffet with toast, fruits, fried rice, eggs (the eggs are not displayed, you will have to order directly from the waiters and state your preference: scrambled. fried or omelette), cereals etc... The hotel staff were friendly and assisted us with our requests. That included getting reliable tuk-tuk service to visit the S21 museum and Killing Fields ($18) and taxi to the airport on our last day ($12). From the hotel, you could walk to the river side, Central Market, Sorya Mall, Kandal Market and the Phnom Penh Night Market (the furthest will take you about 20 mins by walking) The only thing that made me uncomfortable was the neighbourhood (Doun Penh) that the hotel is situated in. It is just slight messy and not as clean as the Chamkar Morn area. It is fine, but I would prefer a more comfortable/quieter stay in Chamkar Morn, which is nearer to the Independence Monument.

Well located, very comfortable hotel”
this was my second stay at the silver river - i liked it so much the first time that it was an easy choice for my second trip through phnom penh. the rooms are excellent value at this price; clean and bright with well appointed bathrooms and flat screen tvs. the staff are wonderfully accommodating and helped with travel arrangements and printing. one of the very best hotels in this price range!

Second stay at the hotel ”
it was our second stay at silver river hotel and even though the room this time was slightly not as nice as last time, it was still a pleasant stay. the hotel is within walking distance to the riverfront and tuktuk ride to most tourist attractions are quick and inexpensive. we ordered a scooter from the hotel front desk for 5usd a day which was not bad at all. it was nice driving (i was riding) around phnom penh in a scooter even though we've been told more than once by friends not to ride motorcycles in cambodia. the only thing i didn't like about silver river hotel is their shower as the hot water only lasted for 5 minutes at the most.

Good hotel - but a hidden charge for Agoda users”
silver river is a nice place to stay, in a great location - but beware booking online, they will slug you an extra $5 a night. silver river is a proper hotel compared to most of the guesthouses in the area. the hotel and rooms are looking a bit dated, but the rooms are big and have everything you could need. breakfast buffet is great (and included in your room price), and its in the heart of phnom penh, close to heaps of restaurants, bars and sights (museum, palace and not far to riverfront). we ate dinner here on the night we arrived and were surprised at how tasty the food was. there was however a sour note - and it drove us to change hotels. we had booked and paid for a room online though agoda (a twin room), and yet when we arrived they said that the room was only booked for one person, so we had to pay an extra $5 a night. this pushed it out of our budget, and we were pretty angry with this hidden fee. there is nowhere on the agoda website that gave us the option to book for two people - and in 4 months of travel and booking with agoda we had never come across this before. booking a twin or double means they expect two people to arrive usually. when i questioned the charge, a team of 4 staff behind reception started giving me a well-rehearsed spiel about how our booking was only for one, and if we read the agoda fine print we will see this. it seemed like this must happen all the time and the staff knew how to shut it down. out of interest - i went back through the agoda booking process and couldn't see anywhere to indicate how many people would be staying in the twin or double room. its not much money, but in cambodia it is - so its a bit of a scam really. also the way the staff death with our question on it was overly forceful.

Good all around, location, service, rooms etc.”
we had a very comfortable stay at the silver river hotel, very convienent to dining, shopping and site seeing. staff was very friendly and helpful. included breakfast was good way to start the day. internet access was a bonus, we could relay our trip adventures to our family and friends. if in phnom penh again, we would stay at silver river hotel again.

A Gem!”
From the moment I stepped into the Silver River hotel I felt welcomed. It is not the fanciest of hotels and my room was a bit small, but all of the staff, without exception, go really out of their way to be helpful and friendly. It is really close to the National Museum, The Royal Palace and the river - ideal really. I highly recommend this hotel and when I am next in Phnom Penh I will go back there.

Location is outstanding”
the silver river was not my first choice, but i am glad i ended up, here. it was a great place to stay for the weekend. the room was clean and comfortable. the bed and pillows were really nice. the breakfast (included) was tasty - eggs cooked to order, great coffee, nice selection of fruit. i really like the location - close to the royal palace, riverside, national museum. it's not far to central market, and other attractions. the massages offered are very good and inexpensive -- one hour oil massage = $7. it will be our new "home," while in phnom penh.

Comfortable, convenient and has great service”
Located within minutes walk to National Musuem and Royal Palace, this hotel was convenient for our two day visit to Phnom Penh. The price is very reasonable for clean, comfortable and modern rooms with restaurants in surrounding shops. The riverside restaurant and bar strip is also a short walk away. The staff were friendly and helpful in advice and organising airport trasnfers and domestic transportantion. Enjoyed this hotel so much we stayed for one extra night on the return leg of our trip.

I Liked it so Much I Went Back gain!”
It is not the fanciest of hotels but it has a number of things that make it outstanding. Firstly, all of the staff, without exception, should be congratulated on the work they do to keep the hotel looking immaculate. Rooms are cleaned every day and communal areas always look tidy and clean. They must also be congratulated for their friendliness and helpfulness. Secondly it is in an excellent location; it is really close to the National Museum, The Royal Palace, good restaurants, bars and the river. Thirdly, breakfast are good with a good and varied selection. I highly recommend this hotel and when I am next in Phnom Penh I will go back there.

the silver river hotel was well worth the price offering a very professional and polished hotel experience. the staff were incredibly polite, the room was a good size, beds comfortable. bathroom small, but clean. great tv and terrific variety of english- speaking channels. breakfast was nicely done each morning. i would recommend this hotel and would stay here again myself without hesitation. the location was great for seeing many of phnom penh's tourist attractions on foot.

Fantastic hotel in great location”
This has to be the best bargain in Phnom Penh,it is located in Street 172 which in comparison to other hotels is quiet with a choice of restaurants and bars. The standard of the room was exceptional and cleanliness superb. When we arrived at the hotel we were welcomed with a cooling drink and were made to feel completely comfortable by the staff who explained about the breakfast times and location and gave us maps of the city as well directions to all the major attractions and an idea of costs using the Tuk Tuk transport system.I have never encountered such enthusiastic and helpful staff in this standard of hotel before.

Great value for money”
My stay at the Silver River Hotel was great. Thank you very much to Mr Tim Bora and his team! The room and bathroom were clean, the staff were helpful, and our stay at the hotel went very smoothly, which contributed to our great experience in Phnom Penh. We arranged for a car from the airport, which arrived on time and got us to the hotel in half an hour. There were toiletries provided in the bathroom, and the internet was a lot faster than I expected it to be. The breakfast buffet was decent too. The hotel is near the riverfront and also near the royal palace, national museum and many restaurants. I would definitely recommend Silver River to travellers on a budget!

Good choice for visiting Phom Penh”
Silver River is a good choice for visiting Phnom Penh, as it is centrally located close to the Kings Palace, National Museum etc. There is a great night food market just around the corner, many pubs and restaurants closely, still, it's not at all noisy. The rooms are spotless, bathroom is spacious with a good shower. Thumbs up.

Bargain accommodations”
This hotel is close to Phnom Penh's Riverside and Royal Palace in a pleasant back street stocked with great places to eat, friendly bars, spas, and a well-stocked convenience store. There's even a nice little English/French/German used-book store just a few steps away! My room was modern, sunny, and clean with good lighting, 2 comfortable beds, good TV, aircon, lockbox, fridge, and plenty of space for clothes and luggage. My only complaint: there was barely enough hot water for one shower. I wouldn't want to shower after anybody else! But Silver River Hotel is great value for the money.

I Love this Hotel”
i originally booked for two nights but keep extending my stay here since it is so pleasant. it's on a quiet street and takes only a few minutes walk to the riverfront and to the old market. this is my first trip to cambodia and i enjoy it very much. around midday, when it is very hot outside, i stay in my hotel room, where i have a tv and good wifi internet connection. the hotel has a restaurant and there are several small and nice places here on the street. this is an excellent value for the money. soon i will continue my trip through cambodia, and will choose this hotel again, when i return to phnom penh.
