Excellent”
I stayed at Silver Sand over 20 years ago and it is a different place , as is so much of Koh Samet. Last time, about 10 years ago, I stayed next-door at Samed Villa but that was full this time. At the Agoda price i paid (around 1600 Baht) it is worth is, but no way at the slashed out price listed on Agoda or even the "rack rate" of 2500 Baht the reception at Silver Sand quoted me for an extra night if booking through them and not through Agoda. I had a room at the back, away from the beach, which was great as it was quiet - if staying near the beach it could be rather noisy into the early hours. This beach , Ao Phai, has just these two places to stay on the beach. Beach itself is Ok, but now covered in loungers in the day-time - the next beach down, Ao Pudsa is a bit better in the daytime (there are two places to stay there, Tub Tim, and Pudsa Bungalows), and one beach down from that is the smallest beach/ cove on the island, Ao Nuan, Evenings at Ao Phai are very romantic...

" Very good location"”
after reading all other reviews about hotels in koh samed. i decided to choose the silver sand hotel. i was impressed with the garden view room. i was expecting an old dingy room with molded walls. after reading about beach room reviews i must admit i was very impressed with the room and the hotel property. beach front hotel with a nice beach. as i noticed all beach front rooms are located at the very front and i personally did not see where you can have any privacy where there is a heavy foot traffic of guest walking from the garden view rooms down to the beach. i recommend the garden view rooms if you are seeking privacy. hotel breakfast was acceptable, much of the staff does not speak thai and very little english is spoken within the hotel staff. good size bar located right on the beach that's part of the hotel. boat rides from rayong drops you off and picks you right on the beach in front of the silver sand hotel. we packed our clothes in camping back packs and was very easy to get off and on the boats as i did notice people who traveled with suitcases and regular luggage struggled to get on and off the boats and risked the chance of their luggage getting wet because you are dropped off right on the beach and pending on the tide it may be knee deep and may have to get a little wet. over all hotel is very good compared to other surrounding hotels.

Right on the beach”
Silver Sand seems to be the biggest resort on Ko Samet. The best things about the place were the beach and the restaurant (food). One problem we encountered were you had to "reserve" your beach chair nearly at sunrise or they would all be "taken" by the time you arrived after breakfast. The only solution is to set your alarm and get to the beach no later than 8 a.m. and "reserve." Another con was the staff were often not very friendly. For example, I cheerfully greeted our server for breakfast on Christmas morning and the response was a scowl. The rooms were fantastic and other than the nightclub noise (until 2-3 a.m.), they were perfectly comfortable. Overall, if I went back to Ko Samet, I would stay there again.

Very nice hotel in good location”
Hi Silver sand is a very nice place to stay. Great staff and waiters in the restaurant. Breakfast was very good. The rooms are modern and clean. Some other reviewers said they can be noisy with the club on the beach nearby, but we didn't notice that. However, it is low season in October and so think the club only really gets going on weekends. There are quite a few dogs in the hotel and beach area so if this is a problem for you, you may want to reconsider. They are friendly and well-trained though so not an issue for us. The only problem was that the wifi in the rooms was very temperamental. In 5 days we only got it 2 or 3 times. They need to improve this. Also would be nice to have a pool but not many hotels have one on Samet so not a major problem.

Good location, good value and near shops”
Hotel situates right in front of Ao Phai, very easy to access by speed boat. This is very greenery hotel, 2 stories building with balcony or front beach rooms are also available. There is the restaurant right up front and the bar next to it. Day time it's pleasure to sit and relax then night time the Silver sand bar turn to bar/ disco so it's 2 atmosphere day and night. Next to hotel there is the road that you can catch the bus to other place, there 2 grocery stores near by, very convenient. I would recommend and like to go back sometime. :)

Perfect place for nightlife and beach activities”
we loved our stay at silver sand - the rooms are a bit dark but spacious and clean. very laidback environment with the best beach in the area i think. this is not a luxury hotel so bear that in mind and you will have no problem. full menu with asian and continental options and late night service of noodle soup till 3am by the bar. all food and drinks were quite affordable. for beer! i went with my friend and found that the hotel catered to both couples and some families. the beach was stunning in this area with powder, white sand and crystal clear water. walking distance to other restaurants and bars along the beach which was very convenient. silver sand bar was well known as the place everyone would end up after other bars closed. we booked a few activities through the hotel - snorkeling day trip and rented a motorbike and toured the island. they had firestarters as entertainment in the evenings and massage ladies by the beach.

Great Place”
Great quality and value for money. Silver Sand is really a great place. Very clean. Location is lovely. Staff are ok but seems sometimes that they don't understand. Friendly place. Great night club and a bar that does not overcharge. Food is great in the day, but seems they change chefs for the night and beware if you have any thai food in the evenings as the green curry we had was far from green and the fried beef in curry paste was lacking curry paste. I believe in reporting all issues especially Small issues in reviews but these really were small issues in what otherwise is a great place to stay. Fully recommend a stay here to anyone and we will be back again soon.

Decent price for good living”
Close to the beach made it easy to walk up and down to the room between hanging out at the beach and relaxing in the room. Food was good at decent rates, only possible drawback was that the staff sometimes were more busy talking to each other rather then looking after the customers, without it being a huge problem but this was the feeling we had at times. In general they were kind and helpful though so it is nothing I would bring up as a huge negative. Just more of an observation. Other than that the room was big, big bed and a balcony with a sitting group. Only thing they could have added was a sitting group inside the room as it was more than enough room for it. They had a small fridge to keep our drinks cool, a neat bathroom with hot water showers and the standard was very good. Television was pretty up to date and the room was clean. All in all a very decent room for the price. It is a very good place for those who wants to be close to the beach, especially couples and families. They had a bar/disco belonging to the hotel that was very active during the night so if you want to have a couple of drinks during night time the option is there. Fire show and modern pop disco music with an external bar next to it so you could also sit outside if you think the music is too loud. My overall opinion of the place is that it is more suitable for those who want a calm and relaxing stay, with the option of going to a close bar to hang out as well. If I would go back to Koh Samet this would absolutely be an option for me.

Great hotel's room, Comfort and Ease”
It was very nice stay and always. I have been to Silver Sand Hotel before, the good things are room renovated became very good, comfortable and relaxed. Food was nice and i would recommend you to try other restaurant nearby, too. Especially evening time (there's a lot of restaurant next to the beach will be opened for dinner and i am sure it would be nicer than you have only Silver Sand Hotel's restaurant for the whold day (breakfast lunch dinner ... too much). The only thing i don't like from this stay was "STAFF" because they are not really into what they are doing !!...no one say hi !, hello ! to customer at all and of course they are not really friendly...they don't mind doing what you ask for, but we can tell the difference !!! for sure ( this is not the first time we have bought services from hotel.... So if you wanna stay in this Silver Sand Hotel for your vacation at Koh Samed. I would recommend !!!!!...but just don't expect the staff the be 5 stars . alrite !!! Just enjoy Sun, Sand and Sea ....it's value for your money :)

Pleasant hotel with lovely rooms”
The Check-in was so very simple. The room clean. Bed firm but comfortable.in-room ammenities were a bit scarce and we had to go to the local shop for supplies (could this be the plan?) Whole resort atmosphere with restaurant bar and night club on the beach was awesome. DJ could learn how to excite a crowd, though - he looked bored. Music was great. Certainly recommend Silver Sand to anyone looking for somewhere to get away from the usual tourist places like Pattaya for a few days. It was not evident the hotel could supply beach towels if needed. Staff were invisible in the positive sense ,but there is needed.

beautiful and convenient hotel!”
our stay at silver sands was the highlight of our trip to thailand. we didn't stay that long and my only regret is that we didn't stay longer! the room was perfect, with a beautiful view and breakfast and a beach chair is included in your stay. the beach is right there and pretty much perfect! if you want something more private - you can walk 5 minutes to the next beach... the only cons were a little slowness with the café staff- but it seems like the employees work round the clock, so i would probably be that way too! however, once ordered, food was usually really quick to arrive. we thought the food was varied and delicious - and cheaper than the other hotels/restaurants down the beach (we weren't sure why? beers were cheaper too).

Surprisingly nice”
a friend of mine, usually known for his budget traveling ways, picked the silver sand for a group getaway to samet, so i hadn't known what to expect. the room was surprisingly nice simple but stylish with a nice thai feel, and it had a cool ceiling fan that opens up like some kind of flower when it's running. the bathroom was big and also stylish, with slate floors, and i never ran out of hot water, which is something that can happen with island hotels. i can't comment on service because i didn't ask much of the hotel during my brief stay there.

Excellent location and nice comfy hotel”
I visited the hotel 14.-21.12.2014. It was definetly high season and there were lots of people. Hotel bar played music quite loud every night. I had earpluggs so I slept good despite that. Hotel restaurant is nice. You can find there different foods, prices are low. There were allso great smoothie bar at the restaurant. My room was big and clean. Everything was ok and I enjoyed my stay at Silver Sand. I will definetly come back next time!

Nice, clean simple resort - but know it can get loud on weekends”
Silver Sand is a nice resort but it also has the only nightclub on the island so it can get loud on weekend nights. The newer rooms are farther away from the nightclub so you might want to request those when making reservations. Rooms are large and clean. Beds a little dated and pillows very hard. The staff is very friendly and breakfast is ample.

Nice hotel located close to the beach”
Our stay at the Silver Sand Hotel was very good, the room was very clean and nicely decorated. However there were not enough towels available. The restaurant was very good, the food was delicious but the staff could be better, since they were not looking that happy.

Fabulous fantastic ”
This is my 3rd time at silver sands resort,it has been updated since my last stay and is even better. The beach is fantastic and I would visit again. The staff are friendly enough and food is fresh and tasty.there is a disco quiet close to the beach and can be heard when at room but acceptable noise level. I will be going back there no doubt.

My Favourite Resort in Koh Samet”
I have been a regular in Koh Samet (Ao Phai) for over 25 years, still love this Island...!! Silversand always my favourite place to stay and I have been pleasantly surprised by all improvements over the years. The noise from the Bar on the beach at night is now minimal. The Management is and has always listen to our needs. Good Place, nice breakfast

Great place, great value”
We had a great time. Rented a motorbike for one day and enjoyed touring around the small island. Everything you need is at your fingertips, convenience store, restaurant, bars, nice beach. Highly recommend Silver Sand as a good value and clean hotel with a nice beach, we would have enjoyed having a pool, but we were fine without it.

There are better places to stay on the island”
I've stayed on Koh Samet 14 times, and this was the most disappointing to date. Silver Sands is overpriced, in my opinion- I've stayed here many times because of the location, but this time I just had enough. Noisy at all hours- Surrounded by raucous, obnoxious partying until 4 am, and you just have to put up with the noise because no one will do anything about it, even though there is a noise ordinance on the island. The staff is lacking motivation, and don't seem interested in doing much, at least in the restaurant. You've got 10 men standing around on their phones, and no one seems to want to take an order. Breakfast is quite sad, considering the price of the room. Samet Pavilion or somewhere else on a nearby beach would be a better option for the same money.

Awesome stay!”
Had a great time at Silver Sand, was supposed to stay for 7 days but stayed another 4! Location etc was perfect for us since we were travelling with a 5 month old baby. Loved the lush garden and all the friendly staff! Very good value for money, will def return!
