Nice view but not convenient ”

We stayed at Simukut Place for 3Nights in a budget twin room. The view was nice with good view of the sea, and you can enjoy the sound of waves. The location is at hillside (will have to climb some slopes) and 10mins walk from Mukut Jetty. The accommodation is not designed for disabled/senior, as the path was pretty steep and narrow which is difficult to walk, and you need to climb very high stairs to go into the chalet. The room has no hot shower and you will need to request separately from the house keeper for electric kettle, mugs, utensils and plug extension (room doesn’t come with the items). There is no internet access and no phone signal too. For food or convenient store it’s really less choice around (NO non-halal item can be found around here). Overall the stay is good if you plan to stay away from crowds and electronics, and experience the lifestyle of the locals.

it is okay. ”

you need to catch a cataferry to come. i think it should be written somewhere. it is very quite and peaceful. two small restaurants and 1 corner shop in 10 minutes walk. a nice beach right in front of the room. many cats around. you can walk to the waterfall. the owner is nice. but i saw him only the day we arrive. (we stayed 3 nights) in the bathroom a wash bowl was not there. very uncomfortable. only cold water. hard to shower. some roaches in the bath room. mosquitoes in the room. (net is provided) no wifi. overall room is very simple but i can bear it but the bathroom was too much for me. i tried my best not to visit.

A very special experience ”

I loved this quiet place so much. It’s so peaceful and you have such a nice view over the sea from your balcony. The bungalow is really simple, there’s even no sink. But you have all you need and this shows you how simple life can be in a really nice way. You can reach the beach in just one minute by foot. There is also a beautiful waterfall you can hike to which is very easy. Sam is the best host you can wish for. He helped me so much with getting a boat back to Genting for the early ferry even though it was definitely not easy to find one. And moreover he changed my booking to one day later for free because I couldn’t get a ferry on the day I was supposed to arrive. I would highly recommend this place if you want to get a rest at a super peaceful place!

Great place with great staff. All you need for your stay in muku!”

It’s location is ideal. It’s all you need for your stay in mukut. If you come here for a trip this is not for you. But if you want to have a great trip to a place that is not overrun by tourists I can recommend Simukut place! The staff was great and helped out with everything, they also are the ones taking care off the hiking trail up to the Dragonhorns so you get it for a little cheaper than other hikers. It’s a 5 Minute walk from the jetty and you walk to all important places (or literally to everywhere in town) in less than 15 minutes) Go there, you won’t regret it!

Favorite place in Malaysia”

Mukut is a great place to stay when you like to get in touch with locals and their culture. It's quite isolated from the rest of the island and really calm. There are several "activities" to do: you can hike to the Assah waterfall or to the bottom of the dragon's horns (great viewpoint). Otherwise, there are a few good and really cheap restaurants in Mukut, like on the jetty or close to the school (for breakfast). Simukut place is really spacious. The bungalows have a nice view over the palms and the sea. There are several nice spots to hang around. It's situated between two beaches. The sea was quite rough, so we couldn't snorkel. The chalet has a nice little porch. The rooms are basic, but we were really fine with it. The bedsheets were a bit smelly. The staff was really helpful, especially Din took great care of us. We fell in love with Mukut and we will come back for sure. :)

Paradise ”

We booked for 3 days and stayed one week. Thanks to Dean, Waffy and Iza who made that trip unforgettable for us. The people on that remote village are just amazing. Tracking, climbing and fishing are just some activities you can do while you are visiting Simukut Place. You will love the beautiful beaches and the surrounding nature. If you want to know how authentic and true Malaysian hospitality feels like you should visit Mukut and the Simukut Place. We will come back for sure. ♥ 🇲🇾
