Firstly, I would say that location is the best thing about this hotel as it is located about 100metres from exit 6 of Formosa boulevard station which also is an attraction itself (The dome of light). It is also one station away from Kaohsiung's most popular shopping district - Shinkuchan. Breakfast was also good with a large variety of food from local to western delights. Service of staff was excellent, very willing to assist us in any way (check-out took less than a minute). However, the room condition was not up to standard. It was not very clean, the cover of the lamp beside the bed even had dust. We also found a small red spot (looks like blood) on our bed during our first night but it was already over 12am and we were too tired to ask them to change the sheets. Air-conditioning was also a bit weird as it takes very long for the temperature to go down after we lower it, resulting the room to feel a little stuffy.

such a wonderful hotel with modern design, and most importantly the staff are so friendly and helpful. i am a flight crew and always have chance to stay in 5 stars hotels all over the world. design inn offers a so affordable price and i didn't expect much on the hotel, but when i walked in the room, the room is so spacious and beautiful. i could not believe that i just paid for around $100us per night. i requested a birthday cake for my girlfriend prior arrival, and they can really fulfilled my request even they do not have birthday cake selling in the hotel, they bought one for me outside the hotel! this kind of personal touch is so rare to see nowadays specially when you did not pay much for the room. (but of course i have to pay for the cake myself) breakfast is incredible and the restaurant is very well designed! just 5 mins walk to the subway station and a famous night market is just right next to the station. i will definitely go back to this hotel again!

Overall, a very pleasure stay at Howard Plaza Hotel, very clean, good service, and nice location as well. The price that we ordered is relatively cheap and it worthy every penny for it. Unlike other 5-star hotel overseas, I'm kinda disappointed in their department stores, which sells some local clothing that would be found in the chain stores, not really suitable for a 5-star hotel.

Location less convenient for tourist because further away from city. Welcoming staff. Room is spacious, smart and clean. No need to book opposite Lees Hotel. In fact I booked first night Lees Boutique Hotel and following 2 nights Lees Hotel, but checkout time Lees Boutique hotel is at noon, and checkin time Lees Hotel at 3pm, so I should have been 3 hours without any room unless I paid extra for those 3 hours. Understandable, but for a 5star hotel not customer friendly, so I cancelled Lees Hotel (free of charge Agoda) and choose much better hotel The Tree House with perfect customer service staff! Stay in Lees Boutique is sufficient. Avoid Lees Hotel because non-flexibitly towards existing guests

I stayed here for 3 nights. There were 3 old aunties in their late 60s with me. The room is big, comfy, super clean and you can also self-help to free and large variety of drinks, fresh fruits and instant noodles etc at any time of the day. There are also a variety of packed breakfast, bread, milk, soya milk, juices provided each morning that ensure you will never go hungry! We had stayed at luxury hotels before but find Formosa Boulevard MRT Garden B&B far better than those luxury hotels. We feel so at home and the owner and his small team of staff spent lots of efforts in ensuring everything is super clean and comfy for all guests during their stay. They attended to each aspect of the accommodation with >200% care. I strongly recommend this place to anyone who visits Kaohsiung. It offers the best value in all my years of travelling. It is well-worth it even if they charge double or triple the current rental rates. You will not regret it at all if you choose this B&B.

The stay at the hotel was great! The staffs are very helpful in any questions you have, they even taught us the most saving method to get from point to point without delaying our schedule! The only 4/5 star I gave was the location that the hotel is at. On our first day, we had to carry our baggage up the fleet of stairs, the worst point is the weather made everything worst. Would have been great if we had known earlier that the best station to alight is KaoHsiung Main Station. Overall, I would greatly recommend this hotel to anyone going to KaoHsiung if they prefer somewhere in the middle and easy to access.

Had booked a twin room and got room 405. Could not believe this was only a 3* hotel ! What a beautiful, big room ! With 2 double beds, plenty of space to put the luggage on. So many windows. Perfect lighting. Good wifi signal. Small writing desk. Comfortable beds with lots of pillows, very nice, silky bed sheets. Good shower. All usual amenities : shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, bath gel (all from l’Occitane), a comb, a razor, dental floss, a dental kit, shower cap. Also a kettle and 2 bottles of water, coffee and tea. Very agreable breakfast room. Breakfast was quite tasty with enough choices : at least 3 hot items, different sorts of bread, butter and jam, salad, fresh fruit, even ice cream and tarts. Good location : 10 min walk from main station, close to metro and night market. Highly recommendable !

This hotel is located in the Sanduo District area which is a major shopping area. The place was really clean and each guest can have their own cubicle with their own individual locker. However, do note that the lockers are locked using the tumbler numbers type. Would have been better if it was card accessed locked. In addition, i slept in the lower cubicle which didnt have ventilation since there was 1 aircon serving an 8 bed room. (I settled this by allowing the air to flow through my cubicle before drawing the curtains. Recommend that the hotel put the size of their bed on the website. (I am 1.85m. A bit of my feet was sticking out). Overall, a good stay.

The hotel is within 5-mins walking distance from the Formosa Boulevard Station (捷運美麗島站) of Kaoshiung and also a 5-mins walking distance to the Liuhe Night Market (六合夜市). Despite the worn-down exterior of the building, the interior is very spacious and clean. The front-desk staff are very friendly and helpful as well. My Standard Double room is very neat and clean. For those looking to have a tipple or 2, can visit the cocktail, cigar, whiskey jazz bar, Marsalis Bar 馬沙里斯爵士酒館 (800, Taiwan, Kaohsiung City, Qianjin District, Zhongzheng 4th Rd, 73號) which is just around the corner of the same street. Overall, I would recommend and book this hotel if I've the opportunity to visit Kaoshiung again.

Location: it is conveniently located just next to the Central Park MRT station exit 2. Travel in Kaohsiung is pretty convenient by MRT. Also, it is located within walking distance to the famous Liuhe Night Market and the Xin Jue Jiang Business District (you can find the famous Angel chicken chop there). Room: A reminiscence of my old HDB flat with the mosaic floor tiles. Room is very cosy. Comes with full set of toiletries. It also provides a free mobile device for you to navigate your way and plan your schedule in Kaohsiung. It also provides 4 bottles of mineral water. Staff: very professional and warm. Upon entering the room, I found a sweet personalised memo by my house keeper. I did not opt for breakfast in the hotel as I could easily get breakfast outside the hotel. There is a McDonald's near the hotel. On the whole, it was a lovely stay! I will come back to Indigo if I visit Kaohsiung.

Right next to the metro station, you can go anywhere and everywhere fast and cheap. metro goes direct to airport at TWD40, TWD20 can get you a few stations away. Liu He night market is next door but very much over-rated. There is more night markets close to shopping district just 2 metro station away. Zhi Jiang night market was recommended, its a few streets away from the famous 85 storey building.

Stayed in Mirador Hotel for 4 days during March 2012. This hotel is located around 3-5min walk from the train station and have many eateries around. Sinkuchan district with many shopping and roadside stalls are also located very near the hotel. The staff were very friendly, and provided many recommendations on places for traditional breakfast and for sightseeing, and how to get to those places. Interior design of the room was very princess-y and the doors of rooms were locked via passcodes, which is great as you do not have to worry about whether you've brought the room card out, and if you've misplaced it. There is also a rooftop garden, and breakfast is served at the garden, which creates very soothing and elegant ambience. Food served for breakfast is also very tasty! (: There is free WiFi in the hotel as well, and connection is relatively fast. However, sound proofing of rooms in the hotel is not the best and laughter can easily be heard from outside the room. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay in this hotel and would definitely stay in this hotel again if I visit Kaohsiung again.

It is our first time staying in this 3-star hotel. We booked a superior quadruple room for 6 days. As the room only had 1 chair, we requested for an extra. Instead of waiting for the male staff to bring it up, the lady staff Cheng Xin carried the chair up herself. Really appreciate her helpfulness and prompt service. Though the room and toilet is a bit small, but it is very clean and comfy. We never tried the breakfast as it is a bit simple and has a lack of variety. It would be better if there are more choices. There is a free supply of ice cream and beverages 24/7; and supper too, is a plus. The lobby staff provided very good service, which makes you feel like you are in a 5-star hotel. Possible if there is a room safe, it would be much appreciated. We had a great stay and we highly recommend it.

Hotel is located in town walking distance to metro station. Lots of food and 7 Eleven around. We booked the business room ,it is small but liveable. No problem getting a good night sleep and bathroom was recently renovated . Definitely not a 5 star hotel but they offer a very descent stay for the price. We extended our stay for 3 nights . We will go back next time in Kaohsiung. Bicycle are available for guests.

Pros: Near the xinjuejiang shopping district. Decent breakfast selection and provision of night snacks such as buns, tea leaf eggs, porridge and ice cream. Staff is polite. Cons: One of the two rooms I booked has a strong cigarette smell. Resulted in my family having to move to the highest level. However, the lift only reached to the second highest level and we have to lug our luggage up one level. Chose this hotel as it provides washer and dryer facilities but there is only one washer and dryer resulting in a long queue. Dryer also does not dry the clothes well at all. In the end I have to bring all my clothes to a nearby 24hr facility to do it. Overall: there are better alternatives in Kaohsiung.

麻雀虽小，五脏俱全。价性比很高，若不挑剔，非常值得住。 It is a small hotel located just 3mins (walking) away from Formosa Boulevard Station and Liuhe Night Market. You dont have to worry being hungry late night. If you have a lot of luggage or handicapped with you, it is easy to access to the hotel via the metro as well. For this pricing, please dont expect 4-5 stars hotel service though. The staffs are helpful, however, you might face language barrier. The chinese name of this hotel is 中央大饭店，can be seen on a red signboard. I had a pleasant 3 night stay with the hotel, very worthwhile. The only con would be that the noise cancellation between rooms and corridors are minimal. You can hear people if they are speaking loudly. Might require reconsider if you are a very light sleeper.

We drove from Kaohsiung Eda theme park and stayed in this hotel before heading for another city. The hotel is nicely situated, 5-10 minutes from the highway. The small room we stayed in is clean but had a smoke smell and unfortunately, we did not complain with the hotel so that they can move us to another room. The staff are all friendly, especially the ones in the restaurant. The daytime staff at the check-in counter are more friendly, I think. Overall, the hotel gives the impression that it wants to be the best they can. The place is quite clean. In general, all the staff are friendly. Food is great at the restaurant and reasonably priced and they had a promotion of "order four, get one free" if one of the guests has his birthday that same month. I really recommend guests have breakfast or lunch in their restaurant. It's a nice experience. Lastly, the bathroom is very clean, with clean towels and the shower deliver very strong hot water.

This review is, particularly, for Australian travelers. The location of this hotel is excellent if you are planning to visit Liuohe Night Market. Exit no. 11 and Exit no. 10 of the Formosa Boulevard are the nearest exits to reach the hotel, however, none of these exits has a lift or an escalator. So your best bet will be Exit no. 4. As the footpaths are preoccupied and quite uneven, from Exit no. 10, it will be a real sweaty and troublesome affair to pull your luggage on a hot and humid summer day. The hotel facilities are quite good for a budget hotel as it has a restaurant with some variety of breakfasts, a small business centre, and one cloth washing machine and a dryer. I was not sure about the cloth ironing options as I didn't ask for it and it was not in the hotel room. The hotel room doors are kinda weird. You will have two doors, first one is a cover and the next one is the real door. The real one will always open from inside and there is no extra lock to ensure a little peace of mind like the door is really locked. The hotel doesn't offer any wine glasses or wine bottle openers, so you better stick with the beers and you can ask for a bottle opener, however; you need to drink beers in plastic/melamine cups provided in the room. Rooms are pretty old and aged. The best feature of this hotel is its staffs. They are really helpful and super friendly. Although their English are somehow limited, they will try their best to satisfy your needs and giving direction or calling a taxi. The hotel provides free bicycles. The WiFi is fast and smooth. Overall, it's a good budget hotel if you are ready to put up with those little shortcomings.

been there 3 or 4 times and this is my best stay so far. the room is spacious with plenty of space for shopping loot. with a couch(believe it's a sofa bed) and a rather big fridge for hotel standard. comes with a wardrobe, dressing table and a rack where they place the toiletries etc. slippers provided, which is rare for hotel of this price range. there's balcony (not the fancy kind, more like a mini laundry area that's empty) with windows for smokers. the balcony is closed off with a sliding door, so keeps it clean from smoking. stayed here for 8 days, walked to ximen train station everyday and it's probably 7minutes? convenience stores around with 2 lu rou fan store right behind. the only troublesome thing is that they dont provide daily water refills, so you have to manually refill it at the dispenser at the common area, environmentally friendly though.

I arrived at the hotel at about 7pm by MRT from Kaoshiung International Airport. No time was wasted as I could visit the Night Market which was right in front of the hotel. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Without their recommemdation, I would not have visited and covered some tourist spots of Kaoshiung within a few hours the next day. (This is my first trip to Taiwan.) I had less than 24 hours in Kaoshiung. The staff also advised me on the type of train ride I should take to Tainan. They printed the schedule of the train rides to Tainan for me even before I asked. It was just another 10 min walking to Kaoshiung Main Station to catch a 30min train ride to Tainan. I noticed every guest was greeted with a cheerful smile in the morning at breakfast table. Simple breakfast but good enough to make my day. Although there were three of us, all ladies, we stayed in a room for four. It is spacious and very clean. I am glad that I have chosen this hotel which has made my stay a pleasant one in Kaoshiung.

Finding the guest house was a little challenge and if you did not look carefully, you would have missed it. My advise for fellow travelers who are booking this guest house was to follow the street name and look for the guest house 'poster' on the wall. Alternatively if you spotted a 'chiwawa hostel 吉娃娃' signage, you are at the right building. Entering the lift to the 5th floor may make you wonder if you had make the correct choice but once you reach Ahiruyah Guest house, you can forget about those second thoughts... The guest house has a very inviting and homey environment (common area space) I would say. I had booked a double bed room and it was literally 'you get what you see'; no frills; a table, chair and double bed. For a hostel standard it is considered the average but most importantly, the room was clean. It would be good to have an extra set of pillows as the ones in the room were quite flat and therefore difficult to sleep on. This guest house in contrast with many of the hostel or guest house has a bright and open look and feel to it. Many of the hostel or guest house to would use dark colors giving them a dingy and claustrophobic vibe. The dorms were also quite bright and spacious (had the chance to peep when once of the occupants left the dorm room's door slightly ajar. The common space area shared by the guest were ten thumbs up... The vibe, cleanliness and inviting nature of the decoration and set up of the space I guess is the soul of this Ahiruyah guest house. When I stayed there (no doubt only for 1 night as I am in transit) I literally would have choose to sleep on the TV area instead of my room.... The cleanliness is also another ten thumbs up or maybe twenty if I can give. In comparison to many hostel of guest house or even some hotels which I stayed prior, the common toilet was simply maintained at a six star hotel standard which is very important in the aspect of female travelers. This is my lst time to kaohsiung city. & also my lst time to stay in SINGLE INN . Like the room , I wad a room with a single bed. The room was very clean & the bed was good to sleep. Every night I sleep very well. Toilet was very clean too. The best it was the quiet in this hotel .MRT & TRAIN STATION are very near. Just 5 min walk. Food are all beside the hotel too. Night markets are many. Just a few walk only. When want to go look for side seeing, shopping centre. Night markets. All are very ez to find the way. When I'm new in this place stay. I also like the hot bath & this is my lst time to take a hot bath. After the whole day walk. Body r weak , one hot bath can let me fill body less pain & also can had a good sleep too. GS staff r very friendly. They help me to find when to go for good view n good food. N it was 24 hour, they r in lobby to sevse me. Thanks u very much for them .they help me a lot. Thank you Holiday Hotel for being our home away from home when we were in Kaohsiung. It was really a very comfortable stay for my husband and I. Rooms are kept clean every day, breakfast is great, staffs are very welcoming and always with a happy smile. They even made sure to accommodate all our requests. Unlimited drinks (coffee, juice etc) at the reception area. There are water fountains in almost all floors. Free dinner during weekdays during our stay. We will definitely stay again at your hotel when we visit Kaohsiung. Thumbs up Holiday Hotel! All the best!

To be honest this is the best hotel i stay through entire trip. Despite the location is not too close with MTR but distance is acceptable. Around 8min walk to SinYi MTR gate 4. Overall from staff friendliness and hotel cleanliness. The hotel definitely worth more than 3 stars. Spacious room. Room facilities is all brand new. Many TV channel. Bathroom is spacious. Separate toilet and bath area is great. With bath tub and high water pressure. Highly recommended if you are traveling as business trip. Great for those do not carry too many luggage. Appreciate for the front counter agent who help to book yellow cab for airport. Thumbs up.
