Both the Sky cafe and restaurant offers awesome Cakes drinks and Thai food. Swimming pool is clean. No algae or funky smell from the water. Rooms were clean Tv, aircon, fridge all in working condition. Toilet can be improved. Ours choked abit. From Sky Resort to the River Kwai bridge is not easy to walk to. But doable. Bus to Erawan falls is just along the main road opposite of Kanchanaburi Train Station. Bus no. 8170, Approximately 2 hours + ride.
A Great Get Away”
A wonderful retreat away from the main street and close to the river. Spacious, clean rooms. A nice pool to chill out in after a day of exploring. A nice walk to the Bridge Over River Kwai. A short distance from a lot of Thai food and Western food. Definitely check out the sunset from the restaurant or cafe on the river across from Sky Resort.
What else do you need”
Good value newish boutique resort type hotel. No issues with the room. Bathroom and room clean. Water supply good power. Pool. New white goods (TV, Wifi, Aircon etc - though we couldn't get our TV to work, we weren't looking to use it, and it was likely our lack of understanding of the internet TV design they use.). Slightly away from the main track - 3 minutes walk or so, but on the river with a coffee shop and a restaurant area. Breakfast is a weak spot I guess, depending on expectations. Close to food outlets and bars. Very close to the Commonwealth War Grave site and Museum. About 5Km south of the Kwai Bridge itself, and maybe the same north of the main town centre which doesn't really hold much of interest for tourists. Next doors chickens could use an early meeting with Colonel Sanders, as a reward for their early morning wake-up call, but I can't fault the hotel for that.
I love the stay at Sky Ressort. It is more beautiful than I expected.”
The room is large, tidy and bright. Every room has a balcony which face the pool. The color and decoration is great. Location is quite good, very near night market and many restaurants. However, the cost to travel by taxi from the bus station is quite expensive (100bth/2 persons). I recommend using Thai's style (three wheels vehicle run by a motobike) which is as convinient and lower price (60bth/2 persons). We walked to the bridge in 20-30 minutes but the route is interesting, each road named with a country (Australia, England, Singapore, Indonesia and even Vietnnam!). The staff is helpful, the facility is enough for a short stay. Overall, I loved the peaceful asmosphere of the resort and really enjoyed the stay in Kanchanaburi.
Value for money and good location”
Good stay at the Sky Resort. Everything was good. Room was clean and big. Big bed, strong wifi, strong aircon and cold fridge. Suitable for family including young children. Good location, 5 mins walk to the main street with food, massage, tour agencies, supermarkets and etc. Walk a bit further is the night market. My kids like the swimming pool very much. Just note that the security who man the reception area does not know how to speak English (6.30pm to 8am). Only the receptionist (8am to 6.30pm) know how to speak English. We had a faulty room with water dripping from the roof to the false ceiling when it rained, wanted to change room but he didn't understand us. We have to wait till the next morning to change the room with the English speaking receptionist. Just note that the tuktuk taxi from bus terminal to the resort is 60B and songthew is 80B. Do not be conned by the driver.
Clean and welcoming hotel ! Prices are ridiculously low for this kind of place : rooms are huge, towels changed everyday, big and nice swimming pool, and the resort is located really close to the River Kwai. The only setback is that the guy a the reception did not understand one word of English, so you better have no reclamation or special requests (we asked him to order a taxi for the day after, he did not do it). Overall it was one of the best place we stayed at in Thailand, would go again for sure !
Sky Resort over Songkran Holiday”
Sky Resort was a mixed bag of good and bad. The location was excellent, with many restaurants and bars nearby to enjoy in the evening. The river view from the Sky restaurant was very nice and tranquil. The room was in good shape and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for budget accommodation. The housekeeping staff was warm and friendly. There was no keycard slot to keep the electric on, so one could leave the air conditioning on while out for short trips and come back to a comfortable room. This was great, considering the heat index of 117 degrees when we were there. The pool was only half full, but was still nice and swimmable at night when the kids all went to bed. The room had screens on the sliding door and bathroom window, which was nice and virtually unheard of in Thailand. On the downside, the check in process was a complete mess. We had to wait an hour, even though the hotel was not fully booked. “It is not 2:00 yet”. The receptionist did not provide breakfast coupons, nor the password for the wifi. These things should always be managed professionally, and in this establishment, they were overlooked. There were NO electrical outlets in the room, expect for the single one that was meant for the television set. With 3 phones, a tablet and an electric razor to charge daily, this became a real hassle. Terrible planning by the management here. The bathroom was a wet room, but was large enough for a shower divider, which once again shows bad planning. Wet baths are not guest-friendly. The lock and latch on the front door were useless and anyone could open the door with a bit of force. Worst of all, the restaurant was virtually never open, but this might have been because we were there over Songkran. They opened for breakfast and for a couple of hours at dinner 2 nights, but only opened for a short breakfast the third day. Most of the time, the dining facility was closed and locked. For the price, Sky is not bad. Low expectations will he
Our stay was very good, thank you for everything!”
1) It took about 20mins walking distance from the bus station to the property. Relying on Google Map, we crossed a few roads and a roundabout and further walked into the temple/ school area before reaching the property. Please be careful of the stray dogs along the walking adventure. 2) We rented a bike from the property and it was reasonable. Would recommend renting a bike to travel and explore the historical town of Kanchanaburi. 3) There is a restaurant and coffee shop (cafe) opposite the property. We have our caffeine fix together with the amazing river view.
Great Place. Ticks all the right boxes for a budget traveller”
Great Place. Ticks all the right boxes for a budget traveller. 500 meters to war graves and museum. then catch a local songteow or Tuk Tuk's. 700 meters to Kanchanaburi Railway station. right near the river with a cheap restuaunt overlooking the river views.
Great price, good pool and location”
For the price, this was a great hotel! The pool was clean, so was the room, the location great - and Kanchanaburi itself an interesting stop with a lot of history. Go see the Erawan waterfalls, but take the local bus - its easy! And remember the railway museum too.
Clean and comfort”
There is many places nearby to stay for a cheaper price. This resort is new, clean and it wort a little bit higher price (800 baht/double bed room). They have nice restaurant across the street in front of the river. I stayed only one night and recommend this place. Swimming pool is big and you can really enjoy.
Lovely little resort”
Our second time of staying here. A lovely little resort ideally located a short ten minute walk from the railway station. With a coffee shop facing onto the river and lovely scenic views from the rooms. It would be difficult if not impossible to get such great facilities anywhere else in the town at such fantastic prices. Keep up the great work
Value for money is excellent. Friendly staff, very helpful. Good pool and nice rooms with balcony”
Close to town centre Coffee shop and restraint overlooking River Kwai Friendly staff. Very helpful Good pool Shower could be better, but for price could not complain
The place was clean and was only a walking distance to restaurants and markets. The resort also had their own restaurant and cafe with a beautiful river view. The staffs were friendly. They also had their own bike rental so it was pretty convenient. On the down part, the place though looked new, had some cracks and looked like it had been through a lot of rowdy visitors but nothing serious that you cant over look as long as it is clean and well maintained and housekeeping did come in every day to freshen up the room and provide clean towels.
Very clean, modern but a couple problems in our room ”
We stayed here for 3 nights in January 2019. We loved the modern decor in our room, the bed was big and we had a balcony with quite a nice view over the pool and towards the river. The swimming pool was a little dirty with leaves but we swam in it and it was nice. The cafe across the road was fab for breakfast, loved it with a nice river view. We also were very kindly welcomed when we arrived. However we didn’t like a couple of things. The shower head kept falling and coming detached from the pole. In the end we gave up and just used it by hand or super low on the pole. Also the air con...would not turn off! Which made it super cold. Other than this. Location is good, hotel was clean and it has a pool and great coffee! Beer was 50TBH for a Chang
Basic, Comfortable, Clean”
The price for the room and what you get is well worth it. Located right along the river in Kanchanaburi town. The rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Big pool. It a simple hotel but was good for us.
modern, next to river.............pool good but cold...........very clean......good room......best value for money...........agoda was best price.............easy access to restaurant area and bars............jeed jard restaurant(outside pong phen resort) is good value and good food
Good location,modern accomodation”
I have stayed at the Sky resort several times. It is located about 5 minutes from the main museum depicting events of WW2 which happened in the locality and which is also situated across from the main WW2 cemetary. In a different direction it is 3 minutes walk to the bar/restaurant/nightlife area. The hotel itself is very quiet with large rooms and private balconies.
Hidden but excellent value”
It is a little difficult to find in the maze of backstreets, but is a new place and rigth on the bank of the river Kwai. Good swimming pool in the middle and every room looks rigth at the pool. Staff is friendly and helpful and speak English.
Perfect place to chill in Kanchanaburi. Close to the main street but set back away from the noise. Great swimming pool to cool off in at the end of a dusty day. We have stayed many times and while it is still a great little place it is starting to looks bit tired in places.
