Very strategic location and worth for the money. Can be improved on the cleanliness especially in the kitchen during night time. The guests should be more discipline. It was nearly 3 weeks since I left the property but until today, I didn't receive my deposit back. Hope they could respond to my 3rd attempts.
Not worth the money”
This place is designed to make you feel that your belongings are unsafe and forces you to either pay for luggage storage, a service that is charged more than other better hostels, but still claim no liability if gets stolen from their storage facility. So better than pay for an insecure service keep your luggage with you. The en-suite lavatory is very small, is very awkward to use. Will definitely not use again.
Average as you can get”
Hostel was really clean and location was great. However the shared toilet was located within the entrance area of my room so there were people going in and out all night it was rather bad sometimes. WIFI is non-existent in the rooms even though it’s stated that it’s availble property-wide. Beds are really short too if you are a tall person. Great that beds have privacy curtains though.
Good location lots of eat nearby and close to transportation. Bed curtains and plugs are nice. Many “extra” charges you have to pay to use the room locker, breakfast and to store a bag. Also you are given your Linens so you have to make your bed and strip it when you leave. Tiny en-suite can’t change cloths in it.
It is ok for short stay”
Exterior is really nice but the inside is ok. Cabin-like beds with only few restrooms. There are no provisional areas where you can place your stuff, a little crowded. Pantry is really nice here but the fridge is almost full all the time.
Female dorm is in third floor”
Just a heads up for those who wish to be in a female dorm, their female dorm is at the third floor! Imagine to carry the bags. (Though you can keep your bags at the storage room but... hmm..) they used to have a female dorm at ground floor and I don’t know why they changed it. Other than that, all are good!
I stayed at other hostels in London, but they were all dirty, noisy and simply put awful. This one on the other hand was organized, clean and provided free breakfast!! You are within walking distance from major attractions such as Hyde Park. I truly recommend!!!
Dismissive staff, Stolen Food, Sleepless Nights”
If you choose this place for the value for money, but not summer, OK. Simply too hot to sleep, especially during the heat wave hitting London. Dripping sweat from your forehead and uncomfortable your back sweat made you awake. Around 2:30am, I saw few young persons sitting on the staircases. They told me "too hot to sleep". They would rather go to Hyde Park to sleep for free. Some male receptionists are dismissive, although few are ok. Unfortunately all travelers are not in accordance with "Men are always right, where women are wrong". At least I thought I was in London. I never expected to be forced to comply with Arabic Practices. Stop watching football/films at reception and do their jobs instead of being dismissI've. The level of cleanliness is disgusting. I needed to iron the bed mattress to kill bedbugs. Severely bitten! Clean seats do not help, because bedbugs live in the mattress. The food in/outside the fridge was stolen. The location is good. Only that.
Don't Expect Customer Service Here!”
< Receptionists > I understand they need to handle hundreds of people per day. Some receptionists are "what do you want me to do?" approach, whereas others are friendly enough. Seriously how many times I was told this exact same word from them. I asked to a receptionist to stay over at the same room, as I booked more than some weeks. I did not stay here only for two nights. Few receptionists said "No, because you booked at a higher fee room." As I did not mind giving up a higher tariff room for taking a cheaper one, they kept on saying "NO". They can accept a new customer who pays little bit more, as I was willing to take up a cheaper room but with good fellows I met there. Seriously I am hosting a B&B in a different country and using the same booking system. < Cleanliness > Generally it is clean. You can see housemaids hover around and tidy up the kitchen and canteen area, but not on the carpeted area or mattress. Thus, bedbug problems...
Too hot to sleep during the summer”
Beds Here are mostly three storeyed bank beds except few special rooms. Because of no air-conditioners in the room, simply too hot to sleep. Dripping sweat kept me awake during the night and you need to go to work or explore feeling tired and sleepy. The bottom bed could be better. But if you need to sleep on the top bed, take your bed sheets to Hyde Park and sleep there. Some people wandering around corridors, canteen or staircases, because they were also too hot to sleep especially during this hot summer. Staff and Receptionists Mostly they are dismissive youngsters. Unlike Smart Stay Russel Square, staff here are rigid and do not know much about customer service. The majority is from former Soviet Union, Eastern Europeans or Londonners originally from middle Eastern countries, except few Western Europeans. Thus, they do not know how to say things and maybe they have not experienced the customer service training for our inexpensive fee.
You get what you pay for”
The rooms are quite small and cramped with triple bunk beds but they are clean. The price was very low but you have to pay for extras such as lockers under the bed. They also don't have many bathrooms on each floor so you end up having to wait. Overall though it wasn't a bad place to spend a few days
hang on to your stuff”
super-efficient cleaning swept up personal items including expensive medicine. clearly not part of normal left-behind 'garbage' at this place. Yet didn't register with the cleaning personnel. Nor, more disturbing, that bothered the management at reception. I trust stupidity and bad organisation prevailed over bad intentions. Thread lightly and hang on to your valuable stuff. No point trying to reason afterwards.
Close to tube station ”
It is a good place to start or to visit London for a short time...
Place is cheap but one of the best! ”
They will charge from towels to lockers. Great place accessible from Bayswater station. A lot of food around the area. Close to Hyde park and the rest of the tourist spots.
Love this hostel!!”
Everything is great! Very close to the Hyde Park! Staff are so friendly here!
Room too small Bed too small Toilet clean Staff not so friendly
