The hostel is horrible. I lived in a single room for a night at the first floor. The whole hostel is very old as you can find it from the pictures. The ventilation in toilet is quite noisy and the room looks very old. Worst still, renovation was in progress and you could hear the noise in the morning. The breakfast is bad with limited choices. I guess the dom room would be even worse. After all,the location if the hostel is good and the price of is relatively low. So, you cannot expect too much from it. It should be fine if you just have a short stay like 1 to 2 days. If one would like to stay longer, prefer other hostel which will be more comfortable.
Very bad hotel ”
It is very noisy because of this hotel is under renovating, The cleanliness need to be improved but the location is good and the staff very nice and helpful.
Good location and helpful staff”
Thankful to the staff in Smart Stay Hotel for helping me to reach my tourist sites especially to Ms Branka (hope i dont spell wrongly her name). At the city centre which is convenient and many shops, cafes and restaurants around. This hotel located near to the Tourist information and public transportation eg trams, buses and subway in less than 2 mins walk. Good hotel to stay.
Lift wasn't working”
Unfortunately, the lift was out of order, and we had to carry our luggages up 4 floors. Other than that, staff was super friendly and location is great! One thing though is there were not many showers so you might have to queue up.
Hotel needs immediate retrofitting ”
The location is excellent. The bed is clean and soft but the carpets need to be replaced. Yes, they are in the process of renovationg the hotel, but they should scale down the room rates. The bathrooms should be on the same floor youre staying. The.bathrooms are clean. The staff are very nice , the breakfast is good enough but there are cheaper and better hot breakfast just around the hotel.
You get what you pay for”
I stayed in an en suite room. Upsides: clean sheets, clean modern bathroom. Downside: ancient and doubtful carpet. Public areas very worn. Good and helpful staff, great location and felt safe, too, despite the usual around the station atmosphere.
hotel is under renovation
Good location, Overall a pleasant stay”
Hotel was easy to locate, good location, near central station. Good service and staff was polite. Clean room and breakfast was ok. Wifi couldn't connect, bathroom cubicle flood and heater not very functional.
Good location, terrible bathrooms”
+ amazing location, less than 5 mins from main train station, one of the cheapest during Oktoberfest time, quiet and dark comfortable room - showers (not in rooms) are left in a disgusting state, water all over the floor, other people's hair everywhere Perhaps opt for a room with a bathroom included, I think this would greatly improve your stay.
Inner city Hotel/Hostel”
Been there mid Sept. 2017 for trade fair. Munich my home town (now live abroad long time), so I know every corner anyway.Booked 8 months in advance for knowing the price increase at trade fair and shortly before Octoberfest. paid about 45 Euros per night, which is very cheap for the Munich inner city. The day I arrived prices for the same room type were 248 Euro, which is total outrageous and really should be reported to the tourism authorities. Had to wait 6 hours until 2 pm afternoon for checking in, because room not ready.Went shopping. At least they had luggage room. Staff barely spoke German, but therefor fluently a kind of eastern European language . The room went to the street, that meant 4.30 am unbelievable loudness from street cleaners. The night definitely over at that time. At least they give out free ear plugs at the reception.Room very small, but ok, only for sleeping anyway. Shower a floor higher with nice warm water, very functionable. All doors work with cards. The toilets somehow from 1950 or so, but at least on every floor.Safe is a locker on the 3rd floor, not really that safe, I guess...Whole hotel has the charm of the time shortly/ after war, old Munich style from the thirties or so. Has its charm.Loved the breakfast: Cozy little room with very small, but big enough buffet, only 6,90 Euro. Evening also very cozy to sit, have a beer and watch football. Definitely a win for this hostel. The location cannot be more central, but evenings the clientele around in this area a real nightmare and even dangerous. Mainly arab and african refugees. No police at all around there.Felt very unsafe.Always happy to be back in the hotel. All in all, if you book right in time, very cheap and good place to stay for a couple of days. The loudness is a minus, should book a room away from the street.
Great location, dissapointing Wi-Fi”
Makes no mistake, the location is great, very near to the main station but I think this is what makes this hotel survive. The bed is forgivable but the window is not properly sealed or closed and I have to stuff the towel in between the window to block the cold winter wind entering my room. And then I have to make shift the curtain as secondary air cushion as well.
Good budget hotel”
The location is great, Fr. Eriksson is very friendly and helpful and the beds are reasonably comfortable. The shower and toilet facilities aren't great and the decor is shabby. Overall though, it is worth staying.
Old hotel and poor storage room.”
The hotel looks old, though just opposite to the Central Station. The luggage room is in the middle of 2 floors, and yes, you can only move your luggage by stairs for storage! The staff is friendly and helpful though.
Don't recommend it, there are better options available.”
It has a very good location but that is pretty much the only advantage of this place. The hotel is VERY old and you can see, feel and hear it when you are walking. If you stay on the second floor like we did, you won't have showers or lockers on your floor which mean you have to go up each time. If the elevator is working that's good, but what happens when it doesn't?(like it happens often here) I was one guy with a room with 5 girls which was nice, I got lucky. But except that, the breakfast was expensive(around 6 euros if I remember correctly) and I had a free drink(I took apple juice, you can have a vodka shot as well) under my bed, I found things that I wish I didn't find, which means they don't clean it that often. I don't like this place for the first moment I went in, I found another one look up my reviews which gave a better value for money(10 euros cheaper) Enjoy.
This hotel is just location.”
This hotel is just good at location, i.e. in front of Munich HbF. The room is old. No aircond. Need to open window (without grille nor lock). Feel unsafe, i.e. someone may climb the window and get into the room? Internet charge extra and yet signal drops a few time. Shower room is basic. No fridge. No anything. Just a room, a bed, a table, a chair and a in-suite shower room only. Rather dissappointed.
Not a smart choice to stay here despite location”
I went there in Jan 2015. The only advantage is close to the train station, however you can easily find other comparable distance choice with similar price and I do believe without below disadvantage: 1. no wifi at room, and it is CHARGED 2. connection outside the room is bad even it is CHARGED 3. The wood floor at room makes you feel embrassed to move around at night especially when you are sharing the room with others 4. The facilities is quite old
Good location, clean room, anti-service mentality”
Good location and a basic, tired but clean room at a reasonable cost. However, a warning for extending your stay - it really causes trouble! I booked and paid an additional night (a higher room category) just before their 11AM check-out time on March 6, assuming I could simply keep the same room for an extra day. But NoNo, the day staff manager almost aggressively insisted I check out immediatly (forcing me out from the room) and check in again after 2PM. He kindly offerted to store my luggage... When I offered to voluntarily downgrade myself and asked the hotel to assign my nicer room to another customer, just saving me a move, I was told that was unheared of for prepaid rooms...and that I had to check out for 3 hours. So: be aware, be careful!
The location is extremely good. It is just next to the main station and all the sightseeing bus stops, a few minutes to the city centre. I stayed in a room with own bathroom. The room was very clean, though it was a bit small. It was a nice stay in the hotel and it is really a good budget hotel.
not a good hotel at all”
not a good experience at all, hotel have 2 kinds of room with a washroom and another with shared washroom, very old hotel with old carpet, a lot of dust next to the bed and wall, water heater have to be very careful as the hot water can sometime be too hot and very hard to control the temperature. Had a shock of my life as at the night of my last day stay, hotel staff assigned my room to others traveller and at 3 am they walk into my room giving me a good fright. of course they too were shock at the same time. If you have a heavy luggage then you will need to carry it a few step up before the lift. The small lift stop at all floors and shake every time it stop. only book this hotel if you want it cheap and if no other alternative.
Excellent money value”
I had a great time. The hostel is clean and they provide towels and bed sheets for free, the U-bahn (metro) is quite close, ca. five minutes. Therefore, you can reach any part of Berlin easily. Tegel airport is reacheable in ca. 15min.
